I was pleasantly surprised with this game as someone that has played 4 farcry games and only finished 2 of them . This game is amazing. As a fan of Ubisoft and the Avatar IP, I finished a 100% run. However, I had an unusual amount of times where I was contemplation about just deleting it and to never look back again. The repetition, the lackluster story, the low pace of essentially all developments and airborne mobility - it was quite frankly tedious and in many occasions frustrating. The only reason I did a 100% run is because of the wonderful world of Pandora, the beautiful visual and audio effects and the true alienlike sense you get after booting up the game. You practically mentioned all my keynotes in your review and if Ubisoft were to evaluate their product, they should take some time to watch your video too!

At the closest point in its orbit, ACA is about 2,300 times as bright as Earth's full moon; at its furthest point, it is still one hundred and seventy times as bright. During the other half of the year when ACA is in the daytime sky, many Pandoran nights are illuminated by both Polyphemus's huge disk and the reflected light from other nearby moons. Truly dark nights are uncommon. Polyphemus occasionally eclipses ACA at night for about one hundred minutes, but the light reflected by the planet still keeps the night from being dark."

As someone who plays games so casually that I dont consider stats to begin with unless it increases my level, I hardly have a problem with the cooking, hunting OR loot system. I don't mind it.
I spend hours just walking through the forest, hunting, flying, and picking off areas of interest one by one to level up slowly but surely. In my opinion, thats another strength of the game. If you're struggling on a main storyline or just bored of having to do one, you'll occasionally find little units of RDA mechs and soldiers in the forest, an animal with exquisite quality ingredients, or one of the labs. Theres always SOMETHING to do as much as it is repetitive. Then again, I enjoy repetitive.
I like games that switch things up, and I like games that are repetitive. It depends on the setting.

So recently. In the past 4 months or so I have finished Far Cry 3 up to New Dawn, I own 6 but it’s hard for me to get interested or into the game. Point being is tho. Avatar has some Far Cry like things, but at the same time with its own spin. Far Cry I could run up in an Outpost and kill everything within seconds, just a bow, sniper, or a silenced pistol, with the occasional throwing knife. But in Avatar I have to plan how I’m going to do an outpost, what I’m going to take out first wether it be an AMP or a normal Soldier, then there’s the collecting things, personally I upgrade all of my things first chance I get, my holsters, quivers, armour etc. anything that uses animal furs. So having to collect stuff to craft or to cook in avatar makes me entertained. I can play a bad ass hunting simulator whenever I feel the want. Then the Ikran is just a plane. But u can interact with it more so that feels even better. Solid 9 outta 10 game for me

I did wish there was more to uncover and honestly I almost never cared about the story. A lot of the humans were obnoxious to listen to and I found myself skipping a lot of dialogue too. My biggest gripe was honestly the whole "one man army" thing, when apparently I'm building a resistance. Like.. I know the final "battle" was going on outside, but I hated that every major event like that was me crawling around in AC vents while the cool fun stuff went on outside. HOWEVER, I did, more often than not, find myself getting lost in Pandora, searching for materials to get new gear and just flying around taking in the scenery which was enough to keep me really enjoying the game, much more than other ubisoft games.

OMG FINALLY A PERSON WHO IS NOT UNHINGED!? Like all the review videos have only been bashing it nonsensically with no substance, just that people say “it’s boring,” or “I don’t get it,” or “it’s Ubisoft.” And I get that not everyone will like it, but come on? Do they truly hate the visuals? The stunning wildlife? The diversity? Flying on your ikran??!? The powerful feeling of hitting a small human? Jumping high above the trees and large roots with ease?
Like there were no flaws from what I could see, so it’s been confusing trying to find reasons.
Reasons other than the obvious hate for it, including the “lore” behind Ubisoft games? That part I’m still trying to get, because I guess Ubisoft’s been holding people hostage? (Jk! But if we’re being honest, this game does nothing but hold your eyes hostage, because it is truly a stunner, and a dreamy spectacle to the imagination).
On the other-hand, I’m still wondering though what type of game people wanted from the beginning, because it seems like people want it not to be boring? Or in 3rd person view? But I still haven’t found any suggestions of what could’ve been changed.
If anybody does have suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it! Would be nice to know how to make a masterpiece, since this game I guess is not one of them.

I have hundreds of hours in AC/FC/WD and took a Ubisoft+ month just for this (AC Mirage was more than a month ago). Played Avatar only about 1/3 of that month's days (and only for 1-2 hour sessions) because it was so dull, boring and way too hard. Spent most of the month on Ghost Recon Wildlands (2017) and got that to about 80% of the whole map icon plethora.
I'd consider continuing Avatar (even with the dull/boring story and dialog; voice acting was decent) If there was an actual easy/story mode - without eating and cooking, with working stealth, less gear crafting, much larger inventory and most importantly: with HUD markers that show me (from miles away, through plants/mountains/buildings) exactly where to go until I'm literally at that spot. Just like you can enable in other recent Ubisoft titles.

I just completed the game on ps5 along with 7.9 percent of players. The world is well realised. However the characters and story are dull as dishwater. I always complete a game if I start it. I clocked in over 60 hrs with side quests. The problem with the game is the amount of times you are asked to repeat quests. Ubisoft seems to insist on putting things on the map and have you doing them on repeat until your spirit is crushed. Most quest go from fun to FFS not again. Its not all bad, but for me that was the main issue. The last few quests drag and are quite irritating. I just feel relieved the game is over. All the fetching for crafting was a chore at times. I would give the game 6 out of 10.
For anyone who does play it, my biggest tip is once you get your Ikran, fly around the map to uncover the fog. It will take some time but it will save you a world of headaches, and looking things up, as the location's will be clearly displayed that relate to location clues. It will make things much easier to find. If you don't uncover the map, it is near impossible to find where you need to go. Use the hunting guide for everything and when you pin items they show in yellow.

I encountered some glitches during side quests and some while free roaming but that didn’t sway me from this game. Visually almost like the movie, gameplay could have been better. The loot system and favor system was more fun to me than taking down an RDA installation. Ikran flying felt more like Horizon Forbidden West but controls were different. It definitely was a great experience for a mediocre storyline. Hopefully the DLCs will make the quality of life in game better. Liking this so far.

I love Avatar movies and Pandora.
    And I love this game.
But this is not an "open world".
They made a new better version of the previous avatar game.
I was expecting something bigger honestly.
I thought I could literally explore all the planet with visiting all different clans and landscapes.
I enjoyed it, and I was attracted by both the exploration and the story.
But the story has a good core but lacks in development.
And the exploration, well, once you travelled all the main areas... What do you do?
And I still have places to visit, but I just don't feel like...
I enjoyed it but yes, some mechanics are literally too repetitive (both inside the game then in general Ubisoft games) and it the end they tend to ruin the good part of it.
I loved it, but it left me with a sense of "end" that is no end.
The RDA is still roaming around (I want to see Pandora free so that I can enjoy it all).
And hey, where are the Navi's?
They all speak English, with maybe a 30% of Navi speaking. Maybe.
And honestly, I found them "Navi" only in the esthetics (that are cool), but for the rest they looked like earth natives.
So the problem in general (not in the game but in general) is that there is a lack of both imagination and identification in this game.
    Let me explain it better:
If there is an extreme fantastic opera in the visuals, it lacks a lot in the real content.
The clans are in the end "humanised" Navi's (human dinamics put in Navi's, and this is a problem of humanity. It's difficult for them to imagine something "different". Really different). And the movie shows it all.
We could have being discovering more about the sarentu clan and maybe even recreate the clan.
I mean, there are so many options that were not implemented or considered.
The only thing I'm thinking is that maybe they want to release them as Expansions.
    We'll see.
But there are so many undeveloped possibilities...
Less Ubisoft and Humans, and more Pandora, Avatar and Navi's please!

In the opening you are watching Mercer be sort of mean to the kids.... but your character isn't there. Then when you escape you spend a lot of time listening to the eco nut go on about the environment in such a heavy handed way.... to the point she might actually be insane.
What's even more jarring is the pollution... you see in the movies that sure the humans can do a lot of environmental damage... especially when they land, but after that everything is clean, they are just gathering up resources.... in this game look out of big coal!
I also hate the crafting system... trying to upgrade gear by looking for specific quality stuff is a pain in the ass..... especially when you don't get the quality bonus for say Rain when it's raining.

Sounds like someone who just wanted an easy game you could complete in a days time. It’s far more than that

I disagree. I found only two good things in this game are the graphics and the music. I hate Farcry I refuse to play it. I don't like the game mechanics I don't like the way it works. This is a copy of that. I was extremely disappointed and I would only personally give this game a four out of ten. The graphics and music give it a four.
Let's be honest we play a game in order to play. If the play part is bad, then the game is bad no matter how visually stunning it is. This is a bad game. I am extremely disappointed in Ubisoft. The last two titles this one and assassins creed mirage both felt like cash grabs. This game feels incomplete it feels like it has the potential for so much more.
Maybe they will do like they did with the assassin's creed. Titles and add more content that will make the game feel complete. I was waiting for that in assassin's creed mirage and nothing yet. We will see maybe a year to from now. It will be a good game but right now it is hot garbage.
And I don't know how your title can be "A beautiful mess". And then you say it's a good game...... The word mess would imply that there is a lot wrong with it, which would keep it from being a good game. Just another reviewer that gets free stuff from the company for saying good things about them.......

100%. Amazing world. Easily the most engaging and beautiful open world map ever created. But the story you’d have to be an avatar fan to like it a lot. Personally I love the story and the way it leads up to discovering new clans from different parts of the map

Far to much micro management in the loot system, temporary buffs and gear stats. Playing on kb+m i was not a fan of the combat.
Ill go back and play FC primal again for a great mix of combat and exploration.

I started on kb&m but had to switch to controller. Definitely helped with the combat feeling more fluent, surprisingly.

Why u went in hoping that ubisoft wouldn't add a premium shop with microtransactions, is just sad. 🙄
U should know how predictable ubisoft are by now. I like the game and forgave some of the faults cause i love the universe James Cameron created, but i went in fully expecting it to be typical ubisoft formula but more refined. That is a guilty pleasure of mine though but got the game only cause of the avatar world etc.

How’s it sad when you aren’t forced to buy anything?? You can play the game without spending a dime🤣🤣 other than buying it ofc
