be sure to check a little more in the dirt where you pulled out the second potato plant. The potatoes can be a bit deeper. You can also feel around the plant (away from the stem) to see if you feel a potato. You can pull a single potato out without disrupting the rest of the plant. I often do this with first potatoes so that I can have some :) You can barely scrub the potatoes and then cut them up leaving the rest of the skin on; that's probably the very best thing about new potatoes!

It's ok if your potato plants leaves are a bit eaten at, as long as they are green(which they are) they are still growing :) You'll know when they have done all their growing when the plant flowers then wilts and looks yellow and dead. So fun!

There may be sediment in your tank in the attic. It probably needs to be cleaned out. You probably move the bits of sediment when you force the water from the hot tap to the cold.
You need to stop the water from the pump filling the tank in the attic and run the bath and sink cold taps and empty the attic tank and clean out.

Hi Aisling well im no plumber but I did go and look some things up, best thing I could see was they said, turn off water valve in Bathroom only. mght be under bath tho ??? anyway, turn off, then turn on all taps and flush loo, then while taps are open turn water valve back on, anything thats blocking it will blow through. ??? be great if that helps, but I would get someone to fix the ballcock in toilet, as even tho its only a bit of a trickle if its doing that all week its a lot 24/7 so could be causing some draining of water. Now SPUDS oh I bet they tasted so good, as fresh and no chemicals, but you will need to check on when to pull them up, as I would hate to have them rot in the ground. Hugs as always to you all. xxx Dede xxx

Hi aisling, the cold water you mention that fills up the toilet, cold tap in bathroom sink and bath comes from the water tank up in your attic...the cold tap in the kitchen comes direct from your well ....that is how my system works in my cottage anyway. That is the reason you dont drink cold water from the batroom etc. because it comes from the attic tank, and that can be fithy up there! 😊 Your gas by the way and your potatoes are fab! 😄

So it’s kinda a tricky one because since the grant came out houses have gone so expensive, but range could by anything from 80k-160k - I was out bid on houses in worse condition that were listed for 80k and went for 160k and higher! So it’s a bid mad, mine was 110k but I got really lucky it had been on the market for a long time and the seller didn’t know about the grant so they just wanted it gone - had they know about the grant I think it would have gone for 150k+
