This video shows a panoramic view of the sacred Isle of Iona as seen from the top of Dun-I by the Holy Well of Eternal Youth.
The spoken poem was written in 1895 by William Sharp - Fiona Macleod. William Sharp (1855-1905) was a poet, novelist, and biographer. Under the name of Fiona Macleod, William Sharp wrote some very popular, beautiful, and enchanting poetry and prose about Iona and the ancient Celtic world. Fiona Macleod wrote as if seeing ‘beyond the veil’ to the Otherworld of Celtic fairies, spirits, nature beings, and prophecy. Love of Iona is abiding and paramount:
“Do you, too, not hold Iona, motherland of all my dreams, as something rare and apart, one who has her own lovely solitude and her own solitary loveliness that is like no other loveliness? In your heart, as in mine, it lies an island of revelation and peace.” (The Winged Destiny’, Fiona Macleod.)
I posted this video because I wanted to share the beauty and peace of Iona. I have been blessed to be able to visit Iona several times, and my experiences with the elemental realms and the ancient calling of the Spirit of Iona have been spiritually transformative.
