    Mr Blair, first off - we really enjoy your videos. Always informative and entertaining. Just wanted to let you know that you CAN get just the intake "J " tube from K&N to replace the OEM rubber "accordian" style tube. I called K&N and gave them these part #s:
    (1) INTAKE TUBE - #087276
    (2) HOSE CLAMPS # 72 - #08671
    (1) HOSE; 4-1/2" ID X 3"L HUMP - #08695
    You can verify these part #s and see the parts diagram shown in the "Installation instructions" for the full intake kit: #63-1568 on K&N's website. Basically you are ordering the complete intake kit MINUS the filter. (I prefer to run the OEM MOPAR filters myself). I believe the total cost shipped was just a hair over $100 for those 3 parts. Simple 20-30 min installation with no modifications required. Haven't had one issue over the last 3 years on our 2017 3500. Exhaust brake and turbo whistle are a tiny bit more noticeable due to removing that OEM foam wrapped center baffle insert. Would love to see you do a video of a before and after install using your Banks diagnostic tool to see if there are any noticeable improvements. Take care.

    Have you noticed any difference with the foam out of the intake? I still have my foam in my 2013 and is still in good condition. What are your thoughts on deleting the CCV filter? I drive my truck less then you I only have 34,000 miles on mine. I do have problems with my front brake calibers dragging from lack of use.

    • @MarionBlair
      @MarionBlair  4 года назад

      No performance difference. The only difference is, you can hear the turbo a little better (very little) but not objectionable. If the foam is in good shape, probably just leave it in. Don't know how old the trucks were or the conditions they were in that had the foam deteriorate, probably pretty old. If I ever delete my truck, I might delete the CCV and put a little vent or just run it all the way to the ground like old school vents. IMO, I don't see much advantage to deleting the CCV right now.

    • @MarionBlair
      @MarionBlair  4 года назад

      Yes, if I still drove a lot, I would. Now I only put a couple thousand on my truck in 6 months so it's not worth the extra cost. Also, I have been hesitant to use a 5w40 synthetic (except in the north) but Shell has the 15w40 full synthetic now and I really like that. Prefer the Mobil products and hopefully Mobil and Chevron will go to that also. They do have a blend. But yes, synthetic is superior, especially in high heat, towing heavy etc... Also better for cold starts but we don't have much of that hear in La. shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/shell-rotella-t6-15w-40-full-synthetic-heavy-duty-diesel-engine-oil-1-gallon-550050467/12043805-p?product_channel=local&store=8836&adtype=pla&product_channel=local&store_code=8836&gclid=CjwKCAjw2a32BRBXEiwAUcugiFr4bC73p-wP0dBnTjDmCB9Rjb7AFAp4w28pfDyjkoAvFbXbbh9AfBoCYJAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

    Get the Banks cold air intake. If you don't want to spend $400.00 on an intake, you could also get the straight tube that'll work with the OEM intake by AIR Raid. That'll replace the baffle entirely. I installed the Banks intake in mine and it provides better throttle response.

For some reason, it's not CA legal, which makes no sense like most things in CA. Anyway, the Banks kit will for sure delete the baffle and the rest of your stock intake for that matter. Cleaning the egr is quite easy. Did it on my old 2008 6.7 many times. I recommend getting the egr cleaning solvent from Dodge as it works well and the two gaskets that go below the valve. Some times they can be salvaged when removing but not always and probably not on higher mileage vehicles. There is also a temp sensor I believe In the egr tube which gets a lot of soot on it and can throw codes certainly on early 6.7’s. Removing it to check and clean is a pain without the proper tool or home made tool ( which from memory I think is a very deep 1 1/4” socket which I had turned down on the inside to compensate for the electrical connector on top of the sensor).

    I have a 2014 and just turned 55k. Like you, I try and do all I can myself. My truck is stock except for level kit, new Fox pro shocks on all corners and 35’s. Also did the KN air box and tube. I’m doing my crank case filter as soon as part comes. And oil change and fuel filters also. I appreciate your videos as they are great and very informative. They have saved me time and agony. Safe safe and healthy.
