The video of this jam with Bob Reynolds and John Mayer might be my favorite video on RUclips. Didn’t know I needed this today. DRH is a national treasure
That was one of the most tasteful sax solos I've ever heard, especially knowing that Bob is capable of soooo much more in a technical sense. Very classy, very well done.
Thank you so much for taking this back to simple, yet extremely effective videography, without frantic, unnecessary cuts; and for the terrific, clean sound recording where we can hear every part in balance, and of course the fine arrangement and performance(s)!
As a non-musician, I am intrigued and amazed by TIMING. On a funk groove like this, every single musician must have exquisite timing. Like micro-timing. Drums obviously drive timing. But listen to the background horns. Bam-right on the money. Keyboards-bam and bam. Just keep listing them and Bam. Takes such a group-wide mental lock-in, such a flow state. Or whatever musicians do which is alien to me. I just get to listen and for that I’m grateful. 🙇♂️
Your timing doesn't have to be impeccable. If you misplace a note, just do it again and pretend it was on purpose. There are no mistakes in funk/jazz, just interpretations.
@@budtrom don't conflate inflection & behind/on/ahead of the beat with bad timing. Of course one can "recover" but that is still bad time keeping. A sound engineer is going to make you stop and re record as opposed to recovering.
@@leonardofelchnervii7905 I'm saying, a good funk musician can make a mistake and make it sound cool. Live in concert, you can't go back and rerecord. The best musicians aren't the ones who robotically play everything perfectly; the best musicians find inspiration in their errors.
Jeez, if I couldn’t see the video & I listened only and you told me it was Marvin Gaye with The Funk Brothers, I would believe. This is so good . Awesome in every possible way. Thank you. I appreciate the time and effort you all put into this to make it look easy. It’s not.

He got a Marvin + Bill + Lenny vibe, the band is simply amazing and the sound is perfect. Climax!
David Ryan Harris melts butter with that voice!
Agreed. Got a lot of similar qualities to the early Lenny Kravitz.. Great tone.:)
Man the swing is unreal. Love it.
A truly scary pocket

Yes and yes! Also, the Isaiah Sharkey solo late in that vid is life-changing.
@@hypnophonic yep, arguably the best part of the video tbh. Jaw dropped the first time I heard it
link? tried looking it up, didn't find it :(

Sean Hurley is crammed so tight in the pocket. Such a great bass player.

Bob Reynolds gave a sickening solo on the LA show I heard it like 100 times
HORNS!!!
Wow 🔥
Just AWESOME!
If I had a billion dollars, I'd give it up to sing like David Ryan Harris.
Good.

Some of the very best lead breaks I've ever heard, the ones which really hit deep, often seem to be less, rather than more. Right notes, right time.
Love it! I want to move on ...

@@budtrom obviously not a bass player or a drummer. lol

Love seeing Bob Reynolds on these! Get him back for more asap! Would love to see him play on a sting or radiohead cover tbh
strange, this somehow reminds me of Lenny Kravitz
I can see Lenny Kravitz blowing this song up.
I can't belive you are coming to Hungary, Veszprém! Meet ya there🙌😍!!!
Sounds like Kenny Kravitz 🤔🎸
Reminiscent of soul/funk in the 70s... Marvin Gaye/Al Green/Curtis Mayfield vibes for sure.

So yummy! Thank you all!
I did not know that Ryan could do filth like the double-stop from 2:04 😂 - super yummy!
Wow! Awesome!
It sounds like Marvin Gaye and Lenny Kravitz mixed together!
Heart's killer
Meant Lenny Kravitz 🎸
What a pleasant surprise! The first time I heard David was from the Biker Boyz soundtrack. I fell in love with his single "Don't Look Down".
მაგარი კაცი ხარ , great sing and good singer.
This lineup could pull off a gig as a Lenny Kravitz cover band. This song is a great mellow groove.
Nice, listened to this one on his album quite a bit!
Dude i LOVE that jacket!!! nice song though hehe
I would like to see derek trucks grooving this song
ruclips.net/video/A8-xWAQJSK4/видео.html This is pretty close…
Sounds like Lenny Kravitz. 😎
Was he cold?
A 4th excellent version of this killer song on youtube! (Larry panned a hair right is a little odd for the video, but sexy organ settings and touch.)
Это же киркоров
All the homies love Bob Reynolds
UBER SOULFUL!
BOBBY REYNOLDS ON THAT BITCH WHISTLE LETS GOOOOOO
Another David Ryan Harris song, really? I'm about to unsubscribe from this channel, you guys better get your act together.
I'm a little confused by this one. Context?
If I wanted to hear autotune, I’d turn on the radio
Do it
Heads up SP, y'all misspelled saxophone in the description
