Calculations while designing aircraft? Who needs calculations? We don’t need no calculations!!! Oh yeah, paint it sky blue. Perfect color for an aircraft that you need to see while flying! I love you guys!!!
a little darker would be better, should have drawn lines for the fenders and doors with a sharpie real quick too. battery directly under motor might be a good spot so the motor and some of the battery are as far forward as possible. little carbon fiber X brace at the front adds tiny amount of weight where it'd help, and add a little rigidity, spray paint some fiberglass window screen mesh and put the hood right on the hood line (it'll breathe but help push nose down a little too + appearance). use white foam board for the top, re-draw the line so the rear of the car top is 1/8" lower, to help the rear lift up flatter..... these just things I'd look at messing with to make it happen better. little longer skewer directly into the body up front especially for its "axles"
Nehh... just take the hood off, and see if it flies better... yep that's the ticket! :D Oh and don't forget the Michelin tires for a smoother flight. ;D
Ideas: Delorion, The flubber car, General Lee, The train from back to the future, Doms' charger, Magic school bus, Knight Rider, Snowmobile, Tank, oh wait, already did that, Dr Claws' flying caddy from the old inspector gadget cartoons,
Mad Props Alex, If it were not for the thumbnail, I would have never thought this would work. This is by far the most out of the box ideas building a flying vehicle with no traditional aerodynamic properties to speak of. I am very impressed great job.
Absolutely hilarious. We just binge watched the Potter movies during the covid lock down . You not only captured the look of the car but the fact that it appears to be flying due to pure magic vs any form of aerodynamic principles. 🤣 Almost sprayed my laptop with rum and coke when the midair drone strike occurred.
Just when you think your day could not possibly get any better, you guys went and did it! Thank you so much that was the Best Ever flying car build and flight. Thanks for sharing and as always Keep Building👍
At first when Josh and Josh ran the channel I loved it. But once more people joined in I started to enjoy the videos less and less up to the point where I simply didn't watch them anymore and I unsubscribed. Recently I was talking about RC planes with someone, and I looked up a video of yours. In the suggestions I saw some cool things which I clicked on. And I must say, I never expected this group to become this amazing. You are all really enthusiastic in your own ways and you're doing crazy projects. I'm a little bit sad that there aren't many new modular builds anymore though. But I'm still really glad that I had that one conversation which brought me back to the channel :D
hey flitetest this has been one of my favorite hobbys to do at home or at the park i just wanted to say thanks for what you guys have been doing your videos have helped me by making me more confident in my flying abilitys i am now trying to get into 3D helicopters and i just wanted to say thank you very much
Adding the hood moved the center of lift of the entire aircraft forward, so for pitch stability you need to move the CG forward too. Think of a canard or tandem wing airplane. The more lifting surface you have up front the more you need to move the CG forward. Or just hang on the prop all day :)
All I gotta say is. These guy are blessed I thought that car would never get off the ground I was thinking we’re are the wings wait the car is the wing. Great job. This guys make anything fly.
Hey guys. Love the flying car,, battleship and all the other odd-ball stuff you've flown. Have you ever considered making a locomotive fly? Think Back to the Future Pt. 3. Just thinking out loud.
I'm so glad you guys posted a new video today, I'm doing my first scratch build today and really needed that motivation. Loving the channel, you guys are a great inspiration!
Awesome Anglia there! My mum had one she called Cuthbert, it burned nearly as much oil as gas, didn’t fly either. The knife-edge tree (RIP) could have been your whumping willow.
Alex, couple of points: with the bonnet (sorry) - hood - where it is, it is acting like a cannard control surface being so far fwd! if you look at the real Anglia, the bonnet slopes down slightly between the two headlamp tunnels (like a Porsche but not as exaggerated)! you could do this with a slightly steeper angle and the result would be to bring the front/nose/motor end down. Same with the boot (sorry again) - trunk - that angles down slightly towards the rear on the real thing also! If you combine the effects of the bonnet(hood) and the boot(trunk) you shouldn't need too much drastic angle on either! With the rudder, I would mount a servo upside down on the underside of the boot(trunk) with a tee horn on and use the rear portion of the side plates cut so as not to interfere with the elevons then you should have much better rudder control! Don't know if these points are worth considering or are after the stable door is shut but might be useful on further projects!?!
@Alex.... down and right thrust angle on the motor might help with the tendency of the car to go up with the hood on. Just like a nutball.... 5 degrees down, 3 degrees right. Worth a shot if you're going to do anything more with this ;-).
Hey guys. Love your stuff. A few random project ideas: more vtol projects, Molded spray foam plane (using something like Great Stuff and maybe 2 liter bottles for fusalage molds), some kind of swept wing plane, "if I had a flying car, it would look like this", could you generate enough power from a single nitro engine to power a quad?.... like I said, random :)
I think the Lamborghini huracan would fly good because it’s sharp and aerodynamic so the air flow would not be stopped by the windshield and it would be a nice plane/car and the plane/car would be easy to fly. (my idea for next vid)
My take on this design is that it could be enhanced by moving/adding elevators on the roof of what is the boot. That way you could keep the hood but thrust vector the air down with elevators after it’s travelled through the prop/ hood/ middle of car then hit the elevator and been forced down to counter the pitch up? It should add wing surface area too which may improve glidelope once a level pitch has been established?
I thought you were crazy for not making it a quad, but your car flew much more like the car in the movies. The "nutball" type flight was VERY Harry Potter.
I love the video-watching the car fly was really fun. I was wondering if you still have the final sketch for this project. I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and my boyfriend is a pilot; we want to try to build one for ourselves. Thanks in advance :)
Nice video. Here's a suggestion if you decide to re-visit this in the future. I didn't see anyone mention it, or maybe I just missed it. Many designs have the plank wing going from the front and top of the hood down to the bottom of the trunk. Some are straight and some have an S shape. Great work, guys!
As I told earlier... watever the things might be if it comes in the hands of Flite test guys it will soon leave the ground. So dont ever get in the hands of these people they will make u fly...😍😘 love these people .. just want to join their flute test family... 🤣
Would a flat wing with a rough (felt, a comb of threads, or corrogated) bottom and smooth top be able to influence air flow enough to generate lift? What about fuzzy tube wings, like paint rollers with motors attached to spin them in reverse so that they slow the air underneath and propel it across the top?
If you attached a flat board under the curved roof wouldn't be a bit more wing-like and create some lift and maybe some stability? It would be an easy mod to try out
Make the delorean from “back to the future” put the motores in the tires👍🏻 this could be a Nice experiment ( please Do this) Hello from Denmark🇩🇰
I would love to see this done with precision and care... then watch it get destroyed by these loons! Haha!
@@SirFlopoges ya make it a quad on 4 wheels. i pledge this comment!
A "Back To The Future" Delorean quadcopter would look awesome! Please consider doing this Flite Test!
Hey i was thinking of doing that
Seriously
Calculations while designing aircraft? Who needs calculations? We don’t need no calculations!!!
Oh yeah, paint it sky blue. Perfect color for an aircraft that you need to see while flying!
I love you guys!!!
he was keeping it true to the real one! if it hadn't been sky blue then we should get concerned :-)
a little darker would be better, should have drawn lines for the fenders and doors with a sharpie real quick too. battery directly under motor might be a good spot so the motor and some of the battery are as far forward as possible. little carbon fiber X brace at the front adds tiny amount of weight where it'd help, and add a little rigidity, spray paint some fiberglass window screen mesh and put the hood right on the hood line (it'll breathe but help push nose down a little too + appearance). use white foam board for the top, re-draw the line so the rear of the car top is 1/8" lower, to help the rear lift up flatter.....

this reminds me about that legendary flying lawnmower
They should make that
Omg kerbal space program!
T r a i l m a k e r s ? :[)
thay should make that
In the UK there used to be a team who did formation flying with a set of flying lawnmowers.
I like that you can identify a Ford Anglia, but you call the movie "Harry Potter Two". lol
Ikr
Lol! At least Jeremy knew about the whomping willow!
ahahahahh
Harry Potter = Books written by a pompous SJW with the misguided belief that she has political influence.
Ford Anglia = Actual Classic
I think she’s been forced into SJWhood, she didn’t used to be how she is now.
I'd like to see Snoopy on his dog house flying.
Dan Koehler omg yes
Dan Koehler that honestly would work
flying cars, flying tanks, flying chairs, what's next, flying airplanes?
There was a flying toilet
What about flying floors
How about flying carpet?
Maybe flying doors and houses? xD
Flying taxidermy
1980's : We will have flying cars in future.
2019: We have them!
Ideas:
Delorion,
The flubber car,
General Lee,
The train from back to the future,
Doms' charger,
Magic school bus,
Knight Rider,
Snowmobile,
Tank, oh wait, already did that,
Dr Claws' flying caddy from the old inspector gadget cartoons,
Submarine?
how about the FIRST movie flying car..Chitty chitty bang bang?
Mad Props Alex, If it were not for the thumbnail, I would have never thought this would work. This is by far the most out of the box ideas building a flying vehicle with no traditional aerodynamic properties to speak of. I am very impressed great job.
Another awesome vid from my fav RUclips channel!!

Thank you so much that was the Best Ever flying car build and flight.
Thanks for sharing and as always Keep Building👍
so a cut in the side to make sure the hood is straight, and a little more room in the elevons so the rudder can work still. INCREDIBLE build!!!!
That ending 😂
the drone pilot was cold i bet and wanted to get inside faster xD
you make it fly without digital effect like on the movie
good job
You guys should do the chitty chitty bang bang car with wings that fold out
They never come up short with good ideas
I had to stop playing world of warships for this
I had to stop playing world of RC-planes for this
I had to stop playing World of Tanks for this
I had to stop playing *insert generic app store game here*
I had to stop playing War Thunder for this
I had to stop playing with myself for this
You guys should make a replica of the Avro Arrow, it was an amazing plane think you guys would have a lot of fun with it!
Yh but we're would they hide the than???
Dang! Nice job right off the table! The flight characteristics seem a little weasley (yeah, I went there), but all in all, a proper success.
I'm Merry Poppins y'all

You should make a compilation of all the times a chase quad crashes into a plane
Quad Qurash, the Motion Picture......
It would max out the hard drive. ;D
100% should be a kit on the flite test store!!!
The steering idea was genius, this is amazing, you guys are amazing
What was that f4u/a-10 hybrid behind you?
It looked really cool
Awesome Video....little bit of strain on the servos for the Elevons. Need to adjust your throws on the radio
You're a wizard Harry!
One of my favorite episodes of all time, fantastic!
Lol that last split second was the absolute best way to end the video.....I laughed so hard.....guess you used up all the magic holding it together
If you rig up a basic steering rack you can then connect it to the rudder servo for more realistic steering.
Awesome job! Stefan’s laugh is partly why I watch these videos.😂
This flys exactly like the movie car
The flying foamboard Ford Anglia :) Really nice
One of my favorite builds y’all have done 🤙🏻
Y’all should make a speed build kit for this
Please put this in the store!!!! Really cool build!!!
as great as a magical flying rustbucket is those last couple seconds were by far the best part of the video.
Adding the hood moved the center of lift of the entire aircraft forward, so for pitch stability you need to move the CG forward too. Think of a canard or tandem wing airplane. The more lifting surface you have up front the more you need to move the CG forward. Or just hang on the prop all day :)
Love the work that is uploaded. I can see the love for this hobby in everything you do!
The Potter themed music really made this epic! Great work!
All I gotta say is. These guy are blessed I thought that car would never get off the ground I was thinking we’re are the wings wait the car is the wing. Great job. This guys make anything fly.
I'm dying guys. Great episode!
Air demolition derby? now there's a plan bro!!
Hey guys. Love the flying car,, battleship and all the other odd-ball stuff you've flown. Have you ever considered making a locomotive fly? Think Back to the Future Pt. 3. Just thinking out loud.
Dear Alex,
Every day that Flitetest releases a new video is a special day. Also, it’s a great day. We need more great days. (Aka more videos)
Of course simplisafe! Completely relates to the video and a sponsorship was totally needed to make this video!
Alex, couple of points: with the bonnet (sorry) - hood - where it is, it is acting like a cannard control surface being so far fwd! if you look at the real Anglia, the bonnet slopes down slightly between the two headlamp tunnels (like a Porsche but not as exaggerated)! you could do this with a slightly steeper angle and the result would be to bring the front/nose/motor end down. that was absolutely cool and funny as hell especially the crash at the end lol and the falling apart at the very end
I’m in tears, oh my word, that was awesome Alex, well done!
I think two props would help a lot, cancel the torque and put stronger airflow directly onto each elevon instead of in the middle.
Where is part two? I want to see part two!this was one of the best videos yet
The future is here! Flying cars!
@Alex.... down and right thrust angle on the motor might help with the tendency of the car to go up with the hood on. Just like a nutball.... 5 degrees down, 3 degrees right. Worth a shot if you're going to do anything more with this ;-).
LOL “is that what you think?!” Love it. Al. From a namesake
What a blast!! 😂 🤣 👍 But you just HAVE to add a photo silhouette of Daniel Radcliffe panicking...
*car goes inverted and drops*
*stefan's scream gets cut off mid-way by an ad*
We'll be right back
Gotta be the best build so far, I like this one more than the tank which was epic btw!
that´s awesome, i wasnt expect such a great performance
Flite test, can you make a foam board 747 in honor of it's retirement?
awesome quadcopter camera skills as usual ! Jedi level !
British expat here. It's "Ang" as in "angle" "lee" "ah".
You said it right the first time!
Gotta love Stefan....You didn't need that!! PRICELESS
Love these crazy builds
Epic video, you guys gotta release this as a kit!
It’s worth watching these to hear the laughter!
Hobby hangar did a flying lawnmower. I love that place.
That landing though
I think the Lamborghini huracan would fly good because it’s sharp and aerodynamic so the air flow would not be stopped by the windshield and it would be a nice plane/car and the plane/car would be easy to fly. (my idea for next vid)
18:16
Bro watch yo jet WATCH YO JET
Minecraft DEATH sound : OOF
Awesome chase footage
You guys need to build a real-life chitty chitty bang bang
My take on this design is that it could be enhanced by moving/adding elevators on the roof of what is the boot. It should add wing surface area too which may improve glidelope once a level pitch has been established?
U should make 2 rc tanks that fly and fight in the air
Awesome video. Idea to execution presented in one go, with grins the whole way.
A little downthrust maybe? Great to see an iconic Ford Anglia take to the sky.
That was awesome for a 1st flight!
the little steering wheel is a very clever idea!!!
I thought you were crazy for not making it a quad, but your car flew much more like the car in the movies. The "nutball" type flight was VERY Harry Potter.
This is epic, half way through the video i was just like FLYING CARS!! I GET IT!!!
One of the best things I've ever seen so far.
I also want to see a back to the future car... That sounds epic
I love the video-watching the car fly was really fun. I was wondering if you still have the final sketch for this project. I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and my boyfriend is a pilot; we want to try to build one for ourselves. Thanks in advance :)

I love how much fun you have. I need a job like that.
As I told earlier... watever the things might be if it comes in the hands of Flite test guys it will soon leave the ground. So dont ever get in the hands of these people they will make u fly...😍😘 love these people .. just want to join their flute test family... 🤣
4:49 It’s like a mixture between the A350 and 787😂
Had it right the first time Ford Anglia 105e deluxe saloon 2 door sedan artic blue with a white top standard transmission
When things get really Harry, you just have to wing it. Cheers!
OMG That was great!!!
Hello, is there a parts list for this build? Specifically motor, battery, receiver, etc? Thank you!
If you attached a flat board under the curved roof wouldn't be a bit more wing-like and create some lift and maybe some stability? It would be an easy mod to try out
You are amazing you have inspired me to build a plane myself haven’t tried it yet though
Anyone else feel like Alex was channelling the spirit of Dave form RCPowers from 13mins on... 😂
