- FYI, this is/was a very late Halloween Story of... special. I'm not sure whether or not Outlast characters will become a regular thing in this series, but I will update you if that changes in a future video.
If there's one series that can boast a host of intriguing characters, it's Outlast. Today I am exploring the story of Richard "Rick" Trager, a self-made surgeon and patient at Mount Massive Asylum that was a former executive of the Murkoff Corporation. A man whose cruelty could turn the stomach of one whose is made of iron. A sadistic fellow even before his "treatment" at the hands of Murkoff's scientists apart of the Walrider Project. The Story of... is a lore series where I tell the tales of various video game characters and locations (TBA). So sit back and relax, watch and or listen, and of course enjoy!

I love Trager, even if he’s not the scariest outlast villain to me(that honor goes to The Groom). His humor is one of the best things about these games, in my opinion.

Always found it interesting how Miles is happy the others who try to hurt him die but when Chris dies he feels sympathy for him. He seems to clock on that Chris is another victim even if he doesn't get that Chris wants to kill him to prevent Walrider

I also think he's motivated by selling body parts on the black market. He talks about business and fetching a pretty penny for Miles fingers. He cut off the most valuable fingers (ring and index) and next was gonna be balls and tongue 👀 whether it's real or in his head we don't know but its not a stretch to think that MURKOFF soldbody parts of the variants and Trager was employed under them after all

joker is million times more sadistic and inhumane than trager. Trager still has that ounce of grasp into reality which makes him human.
After playing all the current outlast games i got a sudden urge to go deeper into the story and the lore and my god i became very impressed at how deeper the story goes and how playing the game at a surface level really shows there is more to just running away from bad guys,

Even though he was a POS, it’s still kinda sad knowing that you’re own friend was in the room and watched you undergo the horror that so many others had to endure. I can’t imagine the terror, especially since you know better than most of the other patients what it’s truly capable of, and why. The feeling of betrayal, anger and fear must’ve been unimaginable.
Trager did the same to many people. In the main game, there is a file of a David guy. He complained, and Trager had him commited to the Morphogenic engine. He was a person he knew as well.

So a person must witness lot of horror or it must lose sanity so that the reason is why Billy doesn't try to host us in the beginning but in the end after Miles has been thrown of high places while trying to jump on bridge and yells in pain after that Miles has been thrown like a bag and in the end Billy has thrown Miles from again high place take his body as host and Miles is slowly losing control over his own body I'm not surprised how much he has suffered

Whistleblower stretches from before the main game to after it. By the time you see Trager in the DLC, Miles is underground.

Man... The Outlast lore is about as shallow as the game itself. Trager is maybe the only interesting bit but his background lore is... Disappointing.
