I used to work for Ameritech, and the first thing I would do after getting my truck at work was to go park down by the river, roll up the Wool-o, and get all schmoked up.

As a fellow brother of CWA, I'm shocked. Here in California, we worked our BUTTS off for 8, 9, 10, 12+ hours some days. Sometimes, being centrally dispatched, we had some slack time and enjoyed it when we could but that was the rare pearl. I truly hope these 'slackers' get what they deserve ... a job application for McDonalds instead of a highly professional union job that I was proud of, and worked hard for.

Dirk Geens we have one of those at my company, can see current speed, location with in 3 feet, and we get alerted whenever they accelerate or brake harshly or get into an accident and there's a dash cam (only facing out because we're not dicks)... they thought they could be smart and unplug it... our phones and computers act like a bomb is about to go off when they do that... to be honest we don't use it a whole lot, mostly for directions so they can call and we can just tell them "go left, pass that street, turn right" etc... though we do sometimes to bust balls
      "Where you at?"
"In my way to the job"

I was an independent contractor for a few telephone companies for about 5 years. We were told to do no more than 4 jobs per day because that's all the union required of the company techs and they didn't want us effecting their current requirements...

    • @andypullen8616
      @andypullen8616 5 лет назад +2

And you sir, are COMPLETELY FULL OF SHIT.
Unions have ABSOLUTELY NO SAY (or interest) in
how many jobs a company get's done in a given amount of time. Additionally, EVEN IF THEY DID, they would have absolutely ZERO FUCKS to give about the production of some sub-contractor to their represented prime contractor, or (in this case) Utility Co.
Oh and I'm a card card carrying Journeyman of two Local Trade Unions, Iron Workers 751, and IBEW 1547,and I'll tell you this.
That shit-bag "Bill" is the kind of miserable scum-fuck that creates a reputation we work EVERY DAY to live down. Our motto up here in the IBEW is "8 for 8, & ten for ten", a fair days work for a fair day's pay.
Also, those "DUES"... Ooohhh this dues, ooohhh!!!!! SHIT...
To the people referencing union dues on here, you clearly have no idea what they are or what they go towards. Most likely also think that I "work for my union". Not the case at all. They work for me.
The only union peoplw who work FOR THE UNION are the union's on payroll employees who answer the phones, mop the floors, and work at the counter in their offices, etc.. All other union members have their union WORKING FOR THEM.
My IBEW dues are... Ready for this?
When not working they're about $40/Month, and when working it's just 3% of my gross wages. Thats it, nothing more or less. No smoke and mirrors, no black magic, or guys names Guido coming to my house to collect, or getting "put on the bench" from my job while someone else takes it, etc...
I ISSUE THIS OPEN CHALLENGE TO ALL WORKING TRADESMEN OUT THERE. You go try to negotiate yourself a job position and wage/benefit package that equals the one I pay to have negotiated for me by my union, then also keep your conditions enforced, wages collected, grievances handled, etc..as I do through the use of my union dues.
Then let me know how you do? Got to warn you though I make mid-$40's/HR on the check, + pensions (x2) annuity, medical insurance (full family coverage), death benefit, legal defense fund to pay for lawyers if needed, and more.
If you can go negotiate that or better for yourself, by yourself, for about $150-200/month I'll tear up my Journeyman Card.
But my guess is, you'll spend that much on gas driving around in circles and wind up working for some rat contractor with SHIT tools and conditions whos checks barely clear, for about .70 cents on the dollar, with NO BENEFITS at all.
Last thing, I'm a conservative, and Fuck Bill...

@@andypullen8616 CWA Local 9588, San Bernardino Calif.
Not bullshit, we had in our contract 3.7 jobs per day. But yea, the benefits were a smoking deal for an hour wage per pay period. I was topped at 33 and that was 2006. Most of us busted our asses and GPS was monitored by a non-union company man. Shit, if 3 of us took lunch at 10am we'd get a call from the manager asking what was up. There was one sick that would defiantly eat his breakfast at the yard, it took almost a year for them to get the union on board to fire his fat ass.
Edit: Contractors have zero effect on labor contracts.

Fuck em, I’m a teamster, I’m waiting to have one of these fuck sticks come harass me while I’m sleeping in the truck, I get paid to get the truck to and from the job, that’s my job, if it takes 30 minutes or 10 hours for the crew or machines to load or unload, that’s not my problem. Most union haters have shit ass jobs with no benefits, no pension, no annuity, no vacation check, no Cadillac medical, no death or dismemberment benefits, etc. they paid for a liberal arts degree they can wipe their ass with and work at Walmart and collect ebt and call themselves tax payers. From the looks of the trucks and dress of it's drivers, customer service was not on the company's list of concerns. Old ragged trucks, no uniforms, of course no trackers, that costs money. And the field guys have been there long enough to know how it works and how to milk the clock. Citizens definitely need another choice and accountability. In Florida the state has the authority to pull a company's license for such crap. And don't think there aren't other companies out there who can't step in right away and take over. There is competition. Sounds like corrupt city...oh, Detroit. Of course.

The auto worker's would take turns skipping work clocking each other in, an engineer was using a company credit card for fueling a company truck to go across state to pick up the siding and other building materials for his house. This is exactly why this country is going down the tubes. I know a guy that his Dad spent 30 years working for Ford in Ohio. The Dad had so much seniority with Ford that on most days his day consisted of coming in to clock in, then he would l leave and come back after his shift to clock out and go home. And because of his seniority no one said a word. Most days he would spend his days in a bar or out fishing in Lake Erie, oh and all this at $40+ per hour. The son was almost bragging about his Dad doing so. I told him, that's nothing to brag about and that's exactly why Ford is steadily replacing it's workers through automation because of people like his Dad. Big as SHIT, Ford closed up that assembly plant within 2 years and shipped all those jobs elsewhere. It's guys like that overpaid goldbrick that are killing off all those solid middle class jobs in the auto and steel industry. Forcing their sons and grandsons to work 2 jobs at minimum wage to make half what they once made at Ford or US Steel that they squandered away by their activity. So next time you want to blame the auto companies remember this post. Put the blame on the losers that worked there.

In the rare occasion you have trouble, your talking to a person in 2 minutes and 95% of the time the problem is resolved in less than 20. For the difficult problems they dispatch a truck, next day at the latest. EPB is one of many things that makes Chattanooga a great place to live!

I'm just wondering is there a seat belt law in the state of Michigan because when that bill guy took off in his truck with the cameras on him he didn't put a seatbelt on and he drove away.

I've had many positions in different companies & GOV. facilities. I was amazed by how so many can retire after 40+ years doing nothing and getting away with it. If you are employed your time is their time. Time is money and I consider this a theft to the worst degree. You may steal an office pen, when you waste their time it takes away from costumers and the people. Not to say every hard working employee of that company or government agency!

First of all dismiss the managers for not knowing where their workers are and what they doing, then dismiss the workers who are not working. It starts from the top, people will get with whatever they are allowed to, shape up or ship out.

Ameritech is a private company and not funded with tax payers dollars = not our problem. City workers doing this would be our problem.

What about the follow up? Is Bill still on the payroll while his truck is parked? Do is a device that can disguise a tracking signal. They are an electronic expert. What about the hard-working employees that needed naps? Are they still on the clock taking another nap? Ameritech is going under. There's service and their reputation is going to be brought up buy another hopefully better Corporation.

Took Windstream over 3 weeks to repair a pedestal at my neighbors place which they had located in a cow pasture. Yup cows love phone pedestal massages apparently. It took two engineers, a repair chief and seven different (union defined) workers to put a bigger post in to hold it up. Fact is they could have moved it to the other side of the fence 10 feet away much easier
