Having lived in Japan for over 15 years, let me tell you that everything here is either extremely expensive or extremely underpowered and old unless you order it online. Also, i am sure Dawid doesn't read this, but for anyone that does, Japan has extremely strict privacy laws and filming in stores, restaurants, transportation, and people without consent (and blurring people's faces) can actually get your camera confiscated by police and a fine up to ¥100000 (~$1000) over their portrait/privacy laws. Since Dawid is making money from this RUclips video and if he didn't ask for consent, he can get fined by the government and sued by any of the stores and people of they find out.
Ironically Southern California has similar laws about filming in and around bathrooms. A World of Warcraft RUclipsr got fined for doing an interview in men's room (at Blizzcon in Anaheim, California), not knowing the law. SoCal like Japan has had...issues with perverts and so has had to also create legal remedies.

I use this same case for my mini-ITX build. I replaced the feet on the bottom with some taller feet, and it helps with GPU temperatures and was a very cheap modification. I then took the existing feet and used them to screw in the tempered glass panel on the bottom of the motherboard. So now I can use the PC in horizontal mode as well. For day to day usage there is no thermal difference, but when I am using a high GPU workload I get better thermals when I lay the PC on the side. It simply lets more air get to the GPU. It's so interesting to see these hardware stores, like the 90s never really ended in Japan. Very cool. I used to love looking at "computer stores" but of course that's like saying I used to love visiting the cobbler or something, they're all gone and never got a chance to progress into this insanity.
I like the idea of a small compact PC… yet seriously flaws = Future problems. - More storage… - Cooling issues - New components that won’t fit It’s not worth it. Buy a big case.
I would probably have flipped the cpu heatsink fan up the other way so its not fighting with the power supply fan, just to see if it improves temperatures.
Akiba is a shadow of its former self when it comes to PC shops, but you did pretty well. There are still a few smaller ones where you can get deals but you need more time (and patience) to look around. I hope you’ll have a good time elsewhere in Tokyo as well.
There's a ton of shops in Japan that do that(same handles, same green plastic straps). They do it because people ride the trains to get around. There's a machine at the checkout that seals the straps by melting the ends together. Very common for things that don't fit into any bag(I got straps on a full size casio keyboard from a music store, as well as a folding table I bought at a department store) As for the plastic wrapping, the employees are taught "the proper way" to do it. It's a cultural thing that if you get wrapping on a purchase, it has to be the stores way and is probably WTF awesome. It goes back to the cloth wraps they used to use. Apparently they often hire a consultant to come in and "teach" wrapping techiques. If you ever go to Japan, feel free to ask for it to be wrapped(gift wrapped, travel wrapped, etc) and they'll probably do it in an exquisite manner. If you think it's weird, they also have a very specific way to count money that is the same everywhere and they all do it EXACTLY the same every time(they force people to practice doing it just so, with the same precise motions and a very exact angle of folding)
@@Grimmwoldds I thought it was an awesome little touch. I don't really see myself as a travel enjoyer, but Japan seems like it would be a great place to visit. Thanks for sharing your experience by the way.

Custom builds are fun! We have a giant tech market called Nehru place in Delhi, one of the only logitech dealer and a great friend there and knows where to source what, he tells us what all shops to grab components from after understanding our requirements and we assemble the entire rig in his shop and fire it up before bringing the build back home. So we avoid these potential red flags by assembling builds before taking them home!
In situations like that with the CPU fan, I have had some success reversing the direction of the CPU fan to pull air up. Still isn't ideal, but it pushes the hot air into the psu and out of the case. With the 2 fans working together, the psu stays cool enough as well.
I laughed when Dawid pointed to the limited edition red Hyte Y60 pc case and called it,(a case with a bunch of anime crap on it),that's Vtuber "Hakos Baelz" from Hololive.

Jonsbo also makes a T8 Plus model chassis that is SO much easier to build in for only about 5$ more on average that I’ve seen. It’s only about 1.5L or so bigger in volume and you can get a couple extra fans on the bottom and one on the back. Plus that carry handle 👌
So glad you find those ram slots annoying, my b550 tomahawk had them & I wasn't expecting it, nor had I ever experienced them before, 'twas my first full build since 1997.👌✌👍🙏

19:02 confirmed, next build should be in an ITX case for portability in hotel rooms, RV/camper TV's on a stick, and/or the beheaded laptop 15.6 inch screen. Naturally with SFX power supply, dual fan graphics card (but not too big now) and accessory itasha decals. Waifu wrist rest optional. Tanoshimi-desu!
4:17 A Jonsbo T8 I have this case. It's not bad if you can get a SFX PSU that you can get ultra short cables made, but the choices for GPUs are limited to ITX models at 180mm max (they even state that on their site.) For best air flow though It's best to use a 35W~65W, a RTX A2000 6GB GPU, and a HDFlex 200W Pico PSU w/ a 180W - 200W Dell laptop adapter (just needed a metal plate to put in the DC plug into.) Oh depending on the GPU the GPU fan works for drawing the air in, but your choices on Heatsinks & GPU are not the wisest of choices on airflow, but at least it wasn't thermal throttling.
That low pro cooler is amazing in spite of its deceiving size. Super quiet too. Used it for years in my fractal node 202/i5 4430/1070 build. Loved that setup.
5:05 ..... ...BULL S#!T! I was LITERALLY there LAST MONTH! IN THE SAME SHOP! and I didn't see those 11th Gen CPUs(I was hoping to get parts to side-upgrade my current PC. Currently using a 11500) God, I have the WORST LUCK!
What a lot of people don't know is that Japan is often one of the most expensive places to purchase things. I can remember back in the day looking for a Canon video camera (mid to higher end pro-sumer) and in Japan, it was nearly twice the price of a visit to the quality shops of New York City... which was sort of disconcerting. Japan is a very cool place but it's not the discount it once was.
I used to watch your videos all the time but this is the first one to come up in my feed for months, and it's 4 months old. Hmm. Probably because I was looking at videos about Japan.
Re: the ram clips, I like them because you know it’s fully seated. And I don’t recall ever seeing a mobo that didn’t have them. At least not in the last 10 years.
Your build is basically 50% of my new SFF daily driver that's smaller than 5L. CPU, check. Motherboard, check. Cooler, check(minus swapped fan for a Chromax), RAM and that's where the similarities cut off. I'm using a 256GB 980Pro M.2 and a Inland Pro 1TB(ew but it was all I had on hand), a HDPlex GaN 250W and the piece la resistance, the RTX A2000 6GB, inside a Stratos case. Not a bad little build.
much like in Shenzhen China, Japan has quite the storefronts that are actually storefronts and being able to view and touch almost everything unlike in the US where its all enclosed in glass.
I really kinda wanna build a mini-pc like this. Pretty sure I was one on another channel once and it seems compact and fun. But also, I need like 8 of those stickers stuck on the side panel because that art was sick.
Flip the CPU cooler fan have it suck the air through the fins instead of blowing through them, will also make it so the cooler isn't fighting against the PSU's fan.
This was a truly fun video. I built almost this exact same build for my wife last Christmas. Unfortunately, she's not a pink loving Anime girl, she's a black and silver Goth girl, so I built it in the black Hyte Revolt 3 case. The I5-12400 is very much an underrated gaming processor.
I found a K39 mini itx case and GPU flex extender cable with 300w power supply randomly at the local thrift store awhile back and remarkably I had some parts itx parts laying around for a different project and decided to put em to work, 10th Gen Intel i3, MSI H5101 Pro and 16gb DDR4 2666mhz ram, Noctua low profile CPU cooler. I was looking for a decent itx size GPU I was going to get the 1660ti but I happen to stumble on a Intel Arc A380 and boy I am glad I did, the most recent driver updates made the a380 a very awesome bang for the buck budget GPU that supports Raytracing and with resizable bar the performance just keeps getting better and better. This sucker is super tiny, smallest pc I have seen with a dedicated GPU and not a APU, plus it runs all current games very well and the core i3 and the A380 are a perfect match zero bottleneck. The anime case they found for those wobder, the character is a Vtuber (streamer who uses an anime character on screen) Hakos Baelz from thw company Hololive. They did an official collab with Hyte for mutiple versions of the Y60 with characters fron their company. Most are pretty good streamers tbh.
You actually found Bae's collab case. Nice.
6:42 WHAT they already have the Dan C4-SFX for sale??? The price is roughly $240 USD too which is actually really reasonable. I would've bought it on the spot if I were there.
All electronics in japan are more expensive than usual
When I lived in japan (2000-2002), PCs were expensive but cell phones were so cheap compared to the US.
Is there are explanation for the expensive prices?
@@uremybae8788 import, exchange rate, and the "made in Japan" branding
@@Daxiongmao87wasn't that timeframe era the sort of glory years of feature phones in Japan? (Maybe a couple years too early)
Before the era of smartphones, but you'd find phones with color screens (before we got them in the US), basic apps, and phones that even had TV tuners in them?
@@volvo09 it was the era of polyphonic ringtones! And as a teen I was obsessed with them lol. Mine had a color screen, but the polyphonic sounds were awesome. But yeah no smartphones yet, mainstream consumer cellphones was still a pretty young concept.
It's so interesting to see these hardware stores, like the 90s never really ended in Japan. Very cool.
I used to love looking at "computer stores" but of course that's like saying I used to love visiting the cobbler or something, they're all gone and never got a chance to progress into this insanity.
god damn i got jealous seeing all those gundam kits in stock
Edit: seeing you take that thing outside hurt
Out of all the things you might have to censor in a Japan video I was not expecting the thermal paste application. Well done.
love your videos. Especially loving the tech vlogs. keep it up
I love this build. I actually love the color of the case as well. That orange-ish/copper color is super appealing.
"I think we may be in the wrong shop" 😅 😂
That last shot with the hello kitty headphones absolute🔥🔥🔥
Now we know why Japan prefers console.
I like the idea of a small compact PC… yet seriously flaws = Future problems.
- More storage…
- Cooling issues
- New components that won’t fit
It’s not worth it. Buy a big case.
I would probably have flipped the cpu heatsink fan up the other way so its not fighting with the power supply fan, just to see if it improves temperatures.
I have a similar layout case, flipping the fan helps a lot
I'd guess he would have tried it, but the video was starting to be a bit on the longer side for one of his videos. They are usually around 10-14 mins.
Akiba is a shadow of its former self when it comes to PC shops, but you did pretty well. There are still a few smaller ones where you can get deals but you need more time (and patience) to look around. I hope you’ll have a good time elsewhere in Tokyo as well.
Man his video's just keep getting better. This one is great!
I love how the Japanese put so much effort into their packaging and stuff like that
By far my favorite video so far. I was making the same sounds when that GPU was being installed.
This build is unironically really sick looking and very practical. Used may have been cheaper but less fun :D
That japanese plastic man sure puts wish's yellow tape man to shame. I desperately want to see a yellow tape handle next time.
The collab we never knew we needed
There's a ton of shops in Japan that do that(same handles, same green plastic straps). They do it because people ride the trains to get around. There's a machine at the checkout that seals the straps by melting the ends together. Very common for things that don't fit into any bag(I got straps on a full size casio keyboard from a music store, as well as a folding table I bought at a department store)
As for the plastic wrapping, the employees are taught "the proper way" to do it.
Cute pc. Love the sticker. Dang sure wouldn’t build in that case though.
How nice is it to go into a shop, see keyboards displayed......WITH ALL KEYCAPS ATTACHED lol. Great vid as usual
Are people stealing them as spare parts for themselves? I noticed a lot of missing keycaps when I went to buy a new mouse recently.
@@herrakaarme I certainly think so, lol i saw switches & keycaps missing from a display the other day. Sooner or later we are going to go into a store with everything being behind a locked display case. Gonna have to wait for a store associate to unlock things we wanna buy smh.
Yeah now you know why can't try out headphones there either...
So we avoid these potential red flags by assembling builds before taking them home!
that sticker really made the whole build, looks great! (as long as you dont open it up)
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS VIDEO! It's a prefect mixture of PC building, reviews, travel vlog, and Japan! I think it just made my day lol
Love your video, I am interested in the sticker you ordered for this ITX case, looks lovely
In situations like that with the CPU fan, I have had some success reversing the direction of the CPU fan to pull air up. Still isn't ideal, but it pushes the hot air into the psu and out of the case. With the 2 fans working together, the psu stays cool enough as well.
Was looking for this comment. I think the same, finding the best airflow is sometimes just trial and error, seeing what works best.
I laughed when Dawid pointed to the limited edition red Hyte Y60 pc case and called it,(a case with a bunch of anime crap on it),that's Vtuber "Hakos Baelz" from Hololive.
I just bought the hakos baelz case recently lol.
@@sogaich. It is a really nice case.
@@SgtReaper22 I was going to buy the kronii case but it was out of stock💀💀.
Loved the tension to get the GPU in. But it was mind blowing to get the front panel power connected to the USB connector. Nice small build.
in Australia it’s very common for tech stores to showcase their headphones & speakers so you can listen to them before purchasing
oh and I know that Biccamera! That's where I got my Switch and TOTK. There was actually some guys set up in front with a booth that had voice translators, it was such a cool experience.
He could have called it a "Kawaii" or "Chibi" Gaming PC.
and painted it pink, and added a cute bow to the handle!
@pauljefferies5837 Yes, Exactly.
Maybe he will see this and change the title hah
No, that's cringe

I am jealous about the whole experience. Outside of the language barrier and complete lack of money, I would love to travel and spend a lot of time in Japan.
Thank you for sharing!
"A spunk-proof keyboard" 😂
Dawid knows his audience
Finally!!!!! I have been itching for my doze of Dawid vd jokes and gaming PC reviews!!!
Jonsbo also makes a T8 Plus model chassis that is SO much easier to build in for only about 5$ more on average that I’ve seen. It’s only about 1.5L or so bigger in volume and you can get a couple extra fans on the bottom and one on the back. Plus that carry handle 👌
You don't have to cut the straps you just find the seam that their heat glued together at and peel it apart very easily.
The ending of this is such a payoff. FOR FREE?!
So glad you find those ram slots annoying, my b550 tomahawk had them & I wasn't expecting it, nor had I ever experienced them before, 'twas my first full build since 1997.👌✌👍🙏
Awesome video! The PC looked awesome in the end, just too bad about the heat! But you looked super fashionable in those Hello Kitty headphones Dawid my man!
Actually, that tiny case looks great for lan parties or being an entertainment centre pc!
I'm SO glad it was that decal you ended up using
That low pro cooler is amazing in spite of its deceiving size. Super quiet too. Used it for years in my fractal node 202/i5 4430/1070 build. Loved that setup.
1:39 those prices seem pretty normal by Australian standards.

...BULL S#!T! I was LITERALLY there LAST MONTH! IN THE SAME SHOP! and I didn't see those 11th Gen CPUs(I was hoping to get parts to side-upgrade my current PC. Currently using a 11500)
God, I have the WORST LUCK!
Lol you looked like you loved making this video. Bravo Sir. Those Hello Kitty prereferral make me all jealous!
I used to watch your videos all the time but this is the first one to come up in my feed for months, and it's 4 months old. Hmm. Probably because I was looking at videos about Japan.
17:41 me too, Gamer Bow Guy, me too
Re: the ram clips, I like them because you know it’s fully seated.
I really hope you are going to do a collaboration with Tech Yes City while you are in Toyko! 🤞
Two of my favourite tech tubers in one place.
I admire your courage for buying an ITX custom build PC on the fly. And you can't get enough of Japanese PRO wrapping enough, indeed.
We need more of those small pc builds keep it up bro.👍👍👍
Respect for the side sticker. Looks truly nice. :)

There's a razor gaming store in the basement
Where it belongs 😂
10:17 What every man over 40 dreads hearing at his checkup.
I really kinda wanna build a mini-pc like this. Pretty sure I was one on another channel once and it seems compact and fun.
But also, I need like 8 of those stickers stuck on the side panel because that art was sick.
I imagine Dawid with two empty suitcases and the clothes on his back. “Yep, ready for a two-week international trip!”. 😂
In Japan the best option for ANYTHING games or gaming related is small shops dedicated to these type of things.
7:22 Nah, physics can handle a bit more, look at Hitomi Tanaka
Flip the CPU cooler fan have it suck the air through the fins instead of blowing through them, will also make it so the cooler isn't fighting against the PSU's fan.
FYI, Tsukumo is one of the better shops for PC parts. Prices tend to be cheaper than other places.
Love me some tiny builds, love the content and your videos!
/build on!
Thank you for puting the link to buy the sticker in the description. I was looking for the exact same thing.
