Also: y’all should watch Ronnie sing Be My Baby with the Ronettes. It’s why she’s in this song.
Do a live version
Yes!!! That would be great!
I watch “seven hunnid” on RUclips everyday😂😩, his RUclips videos are addicting
Yes!!!!
I never knew that. I looked it up and realized I knew this song her voice has not changed at all
He's saying: "...just like Ronnie says..." That's Ronnie Spector singing - a classic voice from the Motown era. What a talent she is.
The Ronettes were never on Motown.
Never officially signed to the Motown record label, but definitely a Motown like sound from the height of Motown’s popularity in the ‘60s.
They was talking about doing mowtown Ronnie and the Rondetts
Way before Motown...
She was earlier from the Phil Spector ( whom she was married to for awhile) Wall of Sound era. Mostly Girl groups like the Crystals and Ronettes.
RIP Ronnie Spector. One of the greatest female leads ever, who survived massive physical and emotional abuse. For Eddie to step up and help get her back out there after she finally left her husband huge kudos. I am surprised Amber's mother did not tell her about the Ronette's. Have to do that one, hope you did
How fantastic did she look strutting her stuff and swishing her hips?
@@bjg8860 Eddie had massive balls, taking on the Monolithic power of Phil Spector at that time. Damn, when he broke into the chorus the first time with the "Just like Ronnie said", and then her "Be My Little Baby", after so many years. I was floored, and then a massive smile came over my face. I was doing a music column at the time, and knew more then most the horribleness Ronnie fought through and here she was, a glorious survivor.
For us GenXers, this song was like the melding of our music (Eddie Money) with that of our parents (Ronnie Spector). Two artists from two different times came together and made this amazing song. Bonus, it got Ronnie back out there.
100% Love songs that call back a couple of decades earlier and pay homage ... '80s casting back to the '60s ftw!
Eddie used to be a cop before he started rocking. Two Tickets to Paradice is another classic. RIP Eddie...
yes hit that next
He was also a DJ at the Detroit metro classic rock station for a while.
Left side of face is paralyzed..
shakin'
PARADISE is the song Eddie will always be identified with! He had many great to good songs but this was the Bell Cow, no doubt.
It was so exciting to hear Ronnie Spector's voice when this came out. She'd been missing from the music scene for a while. Love that Eddie Money showed her respect with this hit song. Just like Ronnie said because of her song Be My Baby. Agree.. great suggestion! And love the 80s too
Yes 100%!!
@@vivawood6526 Good for her! She's a survivor.
Be my little baby!!!
Ronnie specter was his best friend
"Just like Ronnie said "
R.I.P Eddie Money & Ronnie Spector...both underrated, both legendary 🙏🏾🕊
We lost Eddie in 2019 and Ronnie passed this week. They're both jamming up there together.
😔
This Song still gives me goosebumps🕯👍🤘🎷
They were just going to sample the old song "Be My Baby" but someone got the idea to actually ask Ronnie to SING it, and OMG, she said "YES"!!! It was quite a thing at the time.
it's a lot like Carly Simon completely rerecording You're So Vain for Janet Jackson's Son of a Gun ft Missie Elliot
Check out the Glam Rock band the SWEET ,, Their song FOX ON THE RUN ,,, FROM 1974 ,, Talk a bout a FANTASTIC Song, J N A If you dont your missing out on a song thats Cool as ALASKA ,, From the 70s Baby
Ronnie! I miss those old songs so much! be My little Baby! So great!
Eddie has a pretty good catalog of hits. “Two Tickets to Paradise”, “Baby Hold On”, “I Think I’m in Love”, “No Control”, “Shakin”, “I wanna go Back”, “Gimmie some Water”, “Trinidad”, “Walk on Water” to name a few
Shakin is one of my favorites.
Shakin. Shakin. Shakin. Is the best after this one of course. And baby hold on to me.
Think I'm in Love is great!
I love Eddie Money! He has a lot of great songs. One of my favorite is ( I wanna go back) He played the Saxophone in it .. I think y’all will love it!!!
"Trinidad" is one of my favorite songs ever!
RIP Eddie Money and Ronnie Spector 🕊🙏🏼✝️
Ronnie’s voice is unique and awesome
Eddie is just too cool 😎
Ronnie was the lead singer of a 60s girl group called "The Ronettes" and a big hit for them was "Be My Baby". I love this song, and love that he pulled Ronnie Spector (Phil Spector's wife for a while) into this song. Not just a sample, but had her in the studio to sing. Much respect.
I was vaguely familiar with the Ronettes and "Be My Baby," but never made the connection. So cool that he brought her in to actually sing!
Ronnie Spector with The Ronnettes doing ‘Be My Baby’ would be a great one for #FemaleFriday 👏👏👏
I second that!
yes! yes! yes!
Yes!
YESSSSS! Ronnie Spector and the ronnette would be perfect for female Friday. One of the huge hits of the '60s
Yes! One of my faves from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack…
Eddie has done a lot for music. Some really good ones are 'Shakin'., and my favorite, 'Two Tickets to Paradise',
Also his song Think I’m in Love…I love that song!

Love the way they got a 60's star to sing parts of her 60's hit song within an 80's song; a classic within a classic.
Ed Mahoney was an NYPD Cop who wanted to be a rocker and he lived his dream when he became Eddie Money. He had some great hits that we still tap our toes and sing along to today.
Ronnie Specter really enhanced the song and video.
They really should react to the Ronettes Be My Baby.

Now you need to watch her singing "Be My Baby" with the Ronettes - definite homage to that song.
That'd be a great one for female Friday.
I love that song!
I can't even count the number of times I've heard this song over the years, but every single time I get chills when Ronnie Spector comes in with her beautiful and characteristic voice.
Eddie Money represents the best time in the history of live music back in the 80's -what a performer and unique voice. There will never be anyone like him again.
Be My Baby is a song from the 60’s recorded by the Ronettes, with lead vocalist being Ronnie Spector. That is why Eddie is singing, “ Just like Ronnie sang!” And then sings , “Be my little baby!” From her song, so this is an 80’s song with a 60’s song embedded!
Yes, please do the Ronettes song as well

Ronnie Specter is a living legend, The lead singer of the 60’s girl group the Ronnettes! Check out their song, Be My Baby!
Rip Ronnie spector age 78 after her battle with cancer. She had such an amazing voice who was the lead singer of the ronnettes and had a few hits in the 60s. I grew up north of detroit Michigan (motown) so i heard her voice alot growing up . So her and eddie can do this song for the big guy upstairs now.
The version of this Eddie and Ronnie did on David Letterman-with David Sanborn-is EPIC!
Ronnie slides up out of the mist, tight dress and fits just right and it’s magical.
More EM songs: "Baby Hold On" "I Think I'm in Love" "Shakin'" "Gimme Some Water" "Everybody Rock and Roll the Place" "Nobody"
2 tickets to paradise
Walk on water was great too!
Give Me Some Water...I double that.
Those are ALL the best ones ..
She Takes My Breath Away
Ronnie Spector from The Ronettes. Be My Baby was one of their songs.
This song started a come back for Ronnie.
Maybe they should consider them for female Friday.

Ronnie Spector passed away today, incredible talent. A true groundbreaker. 😢
I'm sure ya'll may know this by now, but that is Ronnie 'MF' Spector who was lead vocalist of The Ronettes. Please react to the actual song they did, titled "Be My Baby". It is a timeless hit of their and they were, not too long ago, inducted into to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Ronnie's voice is so uniquely incredible that every guy wanted to write songs for her, from her ex husband Phil to Bruce Springsteen to Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys and so on.
I SECOND THAT! If ya'll haven't already, can you react to the Ronette's "Be my baby" ?? - THEN you'll understand the significance of this song.
The Ronettes, "Be My Baby". It's amazing.

His song “Shakin’” has what is arguably the best drum solo intro of any song in history. Hear it once and you’ll never forget it.
Whenever I hear Shakin now, I think of the King Of Queens episode Eddie appeared in and sang it
The girl in the car with him is Madona before she made her own videos..!
My favorite Eddie Money song!!!
Yes!!! One of the most memorable Eddie Money song. RIP.
Oh they will love Shakin
Rest in Peace dear Ronnie. Her performance knocked it out the park.
My Dad played sax, clarinet, violin and flute, and he was excellent on all of them. He started at the age of 8 and played in the "BIG BANDS" of the late '40s and early '50s and toured with them in the winter months down south, taking 3 and 4 year old me and mom on tour with them. He continued to play in various bands and local symphonies (the violin) and gigs on his own until he was 98 years old. He passed away in October 2020 at the age of 102. MISS you Dad and miss hearing you play from the moment I opened my eyes.
Wow! Thanks for sharing this wonderful story and a full life well lived.
Eddie is one of those rare artists who qualified as "classic rock" without having to wait for his music to get old. Timeless classics.
Eddie was still performing until shortly before his death.
He was married with 5 kids,
3 of his kids (sons Dezmond and Julian, and daughter Jessica) were in his band.
Two Tickets to Paradise is another of his hits.
The part she is singing is her song from the early 60’s. She went home to our Lord today. You could find the original if you look under The Ronette’s or Ronnie Spector( that’s her name)
Now do Be My Baby by The Ronettes. RIP Ronnie Spector who passed away last week. This song made me aware of who she was. Tomorrow's Friday!
I love this song R.I.P. Ronnie and Eddie 🙏🏽🕊❤️
Ultimate 80’s vibe…Ronnie is Ronnie Spector, former lead singer of the Ronnettes, an early 60’s girl group.
The Ronnettes and The Chiffon’s would be good for your female Friday lineup…
By a 70s rocker. Strange. Huh.
Absolutely!
"Just like Ronnie sang" Is a reference to Ronnie Spector. From the 50s - 60s girl group "The Ronnettes" (motown) . He brought her back for this song. Eddie was the best. If you doubt how much he was loved watch the video of who showed up to perform at his memorial concert.
She’s NOT Motown. She never was; she sang with the Ronettes and they were part of Phil Spector’s canon of girl groups from the early 60s. Yes she’s black and yes she’s from the 60s but that doesn’t automatically make her part of the Motown sound. There were PLENTY of black artists who didn’t sing for Motown.
@@tvgator1 my bad. I knew that
@@tvgator1 All the corporate BS was the same for artists who were taken advantage of by the CEOs. Motown and Wall of Sound were still music factories. Calm down.
@@catserver8577 That’s not what we were talking about Cat. Go back and re-read it for yourself. Ronnie Spector never sang for Motown. That’s it; anything else is your problem.
I never caught that before, he says “just like Ronnie says” then she says “be my baby”
Jay and Amber, I truly enjoy your reaction videos and the wide range of music genres it covers. I grew up in the 80s and at one point there was several songs from the 60s and 70s that were re-done. Take me home tonight was special because it incorporated the “be my little baby” phrase from a very famous song of 1963, “Be my Baby” from the Ronettes. What made “Take me home tonight” stand out, was not only that it incorporated a line from the 1963 song, but that Eddie Money actually brought Ronnie Spector, the Ronettes lead singer, to reprise the line. The “misterious woman”, as Jay puts it, of the video, is actually Ronnie Spector!
EDDIE was a great 70s performer and he eventually traveled into the wretched 80s to rescue them.
Many hits in then70’s and 80’s and even into the 90’s. He toured up till near the end RIP (d. Sept 13, 2019) with both his kids. Down to Earth guy that truly appreciated his fans. Your next two should be “Shakin” and “Two Tickets To Paradise”.
Ronnie in there is Ronnie Specter from the Ronnettes, a great 60’s act you also need to check out.
I saw him in 1978 at the Cotton bowl in Dallas with many other bands from a young van halen to carlos santana and Ted Nugent and many others

Ronnie Spector has one of the most sensationally distinctive voices in music of all time. This song introduced me to her music when I was a kid in the 80s and I became a devotee of Ms. Spector immediately.

And the 70s produced almost all the music you enjoyed at that time. We had a MASSIVE over flow of outrageous talent which was used to revive the 80s which were little more than ca-rap and knock-offs of 70s music.
If you like Eddie Money and that saxophone, there's a great one called "I Wanna Go Back". Great nostalgic tune and pretty much sums up how I feel as an 80s kid.
I feel the same way for the 70s As a 70s Brat ,, And the 70s WAS SEX DRUGS AND ROCK AND ROLL AS WELL ,,, ROB SQUAD
I sing “I wanna go back” in my head on a daily basis! Born in the 70s, raised in the 80s and a true 90s grunge girl… definitely wanna go back!
Me too brother. I wish I could go back...life was so good in every regard.

Eddie was one of the greats ,a very real dude and super nice to his fans ! He got a lot of great songs.
Eddie passed away a couple years ago but not a lot of people know that he was a real family man. Often he took his children on tour with him and his son played in his band later on. Great guy.
Two Tickets to Paradise is his signature, but Take Me Home Tonight is, in my opinion, his finest song. Perfect power anthem.
Agreed
Two tickets, Take me home and I think I'm in love ate his magnum opus.
this is probably his most popular

He never actually was a full-fledged cop. He was a trainee who resigned before graduating the police academy. He did come from a cop family (real name Mahoney). His older brother Dan was an NYPD Captain.
He started singing young, not later in life. Was an NYPD police trainee only for a couple of years before going to CA to pursue his music career. He was signed at the age of 27
RIP Ronnie Spector, age 78.
"I Wanna Go Back" is a great look back at one's younger life wanting to do it all over. Who does not feel that way? Great Song.
80's was Freedom.
The woman is Rock and Roll hall of fame member Ronnie Spector. She was a founder of the Ronettes which was one of the best selling groups of the 60's. The line she sings in this song is from their mega hit " Be my baby" which is a must hear. The story of her turbulent life and marriage to super star producer and convicted murderer Phil Spector is incredible and well worth researching.
For Female Friday, you should give some love to other decades. Try Peggy Lee’s “Fever” from 1958 and the Andrews Sisters’ “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” from 1941.
Peggy Lee's "Is That All There Is?" is good too.
Or try a double-bill, two versions of the same song. Re "Fever", Peggy Lee did the cover in 1958 of "Fever" recorded by Little Willie John in 1956. She even lifted the entire arrangement and sound of the song from the original. It was common then for white artists to record covers of R&B songs, which at the time only R&B stations would play. .
Oh yeah! Peggy Lee!
Yes PLEASE react to Boogie Boogie Bugle Boy!!!😃✌

Eddie Money put out some great music back in the day. I really think the two of you would love "Two Tickets to Paradise." I also agree with Ryan Delgado's suggestion of "I Wanna Go Back," which is a great song all around but Amber would especially appreciate the sax!
You really need to check out "Shakin'" and " Two tickets to paradise" by Eddie Money

Point being ive met alot of people and heard alot of saying from all over and i think i was 30 when i heard that term myself lol. I had someone try to make fun of one of my comments because they said i was making up a saying that i heard all the time growing up. @@kenperk9854 Actually every genre of music in the 80’s exploded, 80’s just embraced music in general as what music is, UNIVERSAL…Many older artists simply wanted to be involved, inspire, and felt more creative freedoms in the 80’s….

There’s a reason why the 80s is referred to as “The Decade Of Decadence”. We were wild as hell. 😂😂
Great to see you react to Eddie Money. He was at the peak of his creative powers at this time. But have to mention the guest vocals of Ronnie Spector on this song. One of the ORIGINAL women of Pop/Rock/Soul. This song refers to her hit with The Ronettes "Be My Baby" (1963).
She was the lead singer of the Ronettes. You should do their song, “Be My Baby.”
May Ronnie Rest In Heaven
R.I.P RONNIE AND EDDIE!!!
Saw Eddie live about six months before his death. Rock-n-Roll legend!
Saw the thumbnail and immediately clicked. This is one of those songs we all loved. They used to say that Mtv was bad for music because the bands/singers who got popular on it did so because of their image instead of their music. But there were so many regular looking guys who had massive hits in those days to prove that wrong. This video was on ALL THE TIME. I love it. Will always drop everything to sing along.
I recently heard Eddie Money in an interview from shortly before he died in which he related getting Ronnie Spector to do this song. He said when he got a good phone number for her and called her up, she told him she was remarried after the horror of her Phil Spector years, living in Connecticut, and raising her kids. He said it took some coaxing to get her to agree to do the song.
I rarely comment, but thank you so much for doing this song! I watched Eddies tv series called “Real Money” with his family. He was a class act. Ronnie was still as beautiful as ever in that video, despite her extremely abusive marriage to a record producer(story for another time). Anyways I would like to request “Shakin”, my other Eddie Money favorite! The video co star is Appolonia from Purple Rain. It’s a really entertaining video. Also at the time it was quite controversial and couldn’t be played on the radio. Eddie thought it would be funny to name her body part that was shaking in the song without his record producers approval :p
God I love this song! These reactions are everything.
Haven't heard that song in years. The 80's was a great era for music
Shakin' is my favorite Eddie Money song.
I could list a 1000 songs from the 70s That sound great with the sax and horns as well
The song she is singing is from the 60s called "Be my Baby" and it was in the movie Dirty Dancing. You should do a reaction to that song!😉 It's just a great song💜💜🎶🎵

Still the best musical era. We were so fortunate to live it in the moment
Well said. We will never hear this kind of music vibe again… the 80s rocked.
" I'll get by " his most underrated love ballad of his career.
This video has a special place in my heart. They filmed it here in Reno, NV. The building was brand new and it was built for UNR (University of Reno.) It's called Lawlor Event Center, and they used to have all the major concerts there and of course UNR basketball. When they filmed this it hadn't been open to the public yet. Glad you enjoyed. RIP Eddie Money
For FF: Shakespears Sister--"Stay". Watch the video and you'll be saying "I'm Shook!" at least 3 times LOL
My favorite duet of all time. It was brilliant the way Eddie Money incorporated Ronnie Spector and her 60's hit into his 80's jam.
Yes, 60s Ronnie was a bigger name than most of the 80s mess. Of course Eddie was in the first wave of rockers letting that Ever Lovin' light shine on Me and the Legendary Midnight Special in 1978!
I never realized this was her! OMG! 😃😍
That song still rocks over 25 years later. In addition to the repetitive "Be My Baby" line taken from The Ronettes song from the 60's, it is featured in the movie "Dirty Dancing" from 1987. Both the movie and soundtrack are great and worth checking out.
The older I get, the more I appreciate and identify with his song, "I Wanna Go Back." It's such a great song. And it features the sax too.
Oh snap - forgot Eddie Money, it been years since I heard any of his music - Take me home Tonight & Two tickets To Paradise are great tunes
Great pick, and now the window is opened for you to review "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes on an upcoming Female Friday. The Ronnie that Edie is referring to when he says "just like Ronnie sang" is Ronnie Spector, lead singer of the Ronnettes who were a hugely popular female pop trio in the early 60's. "Be My Baby" was arguably their biggest hit. Ronnie had kind of fallen off the public radar when Edie invited her to sing on this single and appear in the video. She showed that even in her early 40's, she still had the all the swag and sex appeal....and, more importantly, the VOICE, of her youth.
RIP Eddie Money. I'm a 42 yr old man, and when I was young, my grandfather said some younger guy was his drinking buddy who said he was famous. My grandfather had no idea who this guy was in his professional life, but, later told me before he passed away that it was Eddie Money. I was floored. He had no clue who he was. Just Eddie. Funny how life works.
Baby Hold On has to be his biggest hits; it is my favorite Eddy Money tune!
I think i'm in love. By Eddie money is another great song
Eddie Money is one of my favorite artists of all time ❤️
Oh I love Eddie and Ronnie with back vocals, love them...Love their sound together...Awesome song...Thanks so much guys, Blessings
Roy Orbison ‘A Love So Beautiful’, such a powerful emotional voice. His ‘Walk On’ just shows the range of his great voice.
His song "Two Tickets to Paradise" is probably his signature tune.
Dude had hits in both the 70s and 80s...I like "Gimme Some Water"
Another very good one.
Hi J. And Amber! My wife and I love your channel. Now you have to feature Ronnie Spector's group, on female Friday, singing "Be My Baby" to piece it all together. Ronnie is a legend in her own right and one of the most unique voices in Rock 'n Roll.
80's music is so amazing to me. I love 60's/70's/90's/00's music but hands down the best music was made in the 80's.
