So saw Eddie live in Detroit, decent show but he was boo'd off the stage. His error. He was opening for The Who. Sandwiched in the middle was The Clashed and they sucked live. I think they were either too drunk or just not very good. At the Pontiac Silverdome, in front of 60k people.

Well I guess you have to to "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes soon. The song is from 1963. Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys was obsessed with this song due the the production values of Phil Spector. He would play it over and over again. Wilson use some of Phil Spector's production techniques on the Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" album (1966). Ronnie Spector was an awesome singer. The live versions of "Be My Baby" are the best.

I saw him in concert once and he was introducing the next song (sorry, I don't remember which one it was right now). 2019 I had the privilege of getting to photograph Eddie Money and his beautiful daughter Jessica when they performed in The Villages, Florida. During the meet and greet, he was extremely cordial to all of his fans. He really liked his fans. He patiently listened to them about their experiences with him, etc. Throughout the concert, he had so many wonderful stories to tell about songs, people he had traveled with, his parents, his family... he was truly one of the good guys. I am so thankful I got to photograph this beautiful soul. RIP Eddie.

My friend you haven't reached back in time far enough yet.
That woman was the one, the only, RONNIE SPECTRE.
Ronnie of Ronnie and the Ronetts. One of the very first walkin wet dreams that came out of Motown.
When this first came out I about freaked out. 20 years of hearing little or nothing then BOOM, here she is.

Eddie was a New York police officer before becoming a singer. As others have said- that's Ronnie Spector- lead singer of the Ronettes. They had a song Be My Baby, which they are playing off of with her lyrics. Two Tickets to Paradise, Shakin, Baby Hold On, Think I'm in Love

80s videos often border on cheesy, as seen today, but videos were a very new medium, and everyone was exploring and pushing boundaries. Many had that 80s postmodern feel. The video makers and artists just felt total freedom to create while also referencing past imagery from films. A great time to watch MTV 24 hours a day, as we did!

“Just like Ronnie said…” The legendary Ronnie Spector of the 60’s group, The Ronettes”. Her biggest hit was a song called “Be My Baby”. A lot of 80’s artists did songs that featured their musical influences and heroes. A good example (and one to react to) is “What Have I Done to Deserve This” by the Pet Shop Boys featuring Dusty Springfield.

That was the legendary Ronnie Spector of The Ronettes. The line in the song, "just like Ronnie sang, be my little baby "Was a reference to The Ronettes hit 'Be My Baby" produced by Ronnie spector's husband, the legendary producer Phil Spector (who recently passed..) It was one of the things that made this particular song so special, that she was actually singing that line That was referring to her.
Quik personal story. When this song came out, the major rock station in New York was wnew-fm . Eddie Money was the featured performer at the annual New Year's Eve concert . I had tickets. I remember Saying to my wife as we drove there, "I wonder if Ronnie Spector is going to show up?". Because she was a friend of that station , and that hit was airing On the radio at that time And don't you know ? She absolutely did! And it was freaking awesome!.
BTW, Eddie's first album was one of the first records I ever bought.

There's a small casino in the city I live in with a small indoor concert venue that showcases free concerts every week. I saw Eddie Money there about a year before he passed away. He was an incredible performer and super cool. Even in his old age he was dancing around and having a great time. He played the sax on a couple songs and his voice still sounded amazing. He stuck around after the show for at least an hour signing autographs, taking pictures, and engaging with his fans. He was selling his merchandise with all the proceeds going to his charity for police officers. He was cool, humble, and just an all around great guy. RIP 🙏

At his next concert before he sang one of his songs, he said, "This is for all the people I've met at 7-11". I almost fainted. He was a really nice guy and he died too soon. Eddie Money was often referred to as the working man’s rocker. He came up in the early 70s in the Bay Area, San Fransisco, at the same time Santana, Kenny Loggins etc. This was about the time the LA scene included Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles and Jackson Brown. I recall him spending time in Myrtle Beach, playing local clubs. Many of my friends hung out with Eddie. Like some rockers, that long time smoking and drinking habit ages you quickly. He passed in 2019, at 70. Thanks for the iconic songs that made my generation stand up and sing along! RIP Eddie!!!
Cheesy? Hold on now! Music is an evolution. Without the 80s, today’s music would lack the luster.

Poor Ronnie had to sneak out of their home with no shoes and just the dress she was wearing to escape his controlling nature. He fired guns in his recording studio (John Lennon said Shoot me, Phil, but watch my ears!) And then there's the murder of Lana Clarkson.

Way back in the late 80’s I went to see Eddie Money in concert and I have to say it was one heck of a show. My best friend and I had our tickets and couldn’t wait till the day came for the concert. We both came down with pneumonia, sick as we could be, but we were going to make it to that concert.
