Same. I don't have the exact time in hours because I originally played it on Gamepass before getting it for free on Epic, but I know I have close to 150 hours on the Epic version along. Gotta be close to 400 hours now total. Can't stop playing it. What's also crazy is that I'm usually a gamer that'll play a game on medium and be done with it but with this game I can't stop trying to improve my playing so I can play it on harder and harder difficulties. The only things I really have trouble with now are hard/extreme on Endless Endurance mode. It's BRUTAL.
the storm hit my city, my generator breaking down from the overdrive usage. so i have to send little timmy crawling inside the generator and fix it. awesome
This game is awesome, it's just a shame that once you "figure out" how to win, it becomes a bit too mundane. Wish the story had more random elements thrown in it instead of the scripted events that happen every playthrough at the same time.
That's why you have to create your own challenges; do pure "morals" run, where you outlaw child labor, save limbs instead of amputate, basically try to cling to the old world as hard as possible. Or be a ruthless asshole lol
@@Stovetopcookie Agreed. You can still have fun with the game afterwards, but nothing feels as good as your first time building your city. Frostpunk might be the only strategy game that hooked me for that long.
The alternate scenarios, aside from the seedlings one, are insanely difficult. For example, in On The Edge, you don’t get the late game upgrades that remove hope.
I wait until 9pm before I turn it back on, between midnight and 1am if I really want to stretch it out. People start to get mad but they’re satiated once it’s on and I still don’t end up with sick people. But I always run the risk of forgetting to turn it on in time when I do that, since it takes a bit to heat up 😅
why not use gathering posts at the start? they're far more efficient for workers than using the small gathering nodes separately, and you can scrap them afterwards. coal thumper is also an infinite source of coal too that you can use before you get far enough out to be using the mines. i find putting 2 coal thumpers and anywhere from 1-4 gatherers in the same area is enough to get you through the first few storms. just raise the number of gatherers as you need coal faster, as the thumpers each create 2-3 piles of coal for gathering.
I once used a Coal Mine and Automoton (I haven't made it far in the game, but have made it past the Steel Bridge, hence the automoton.) and ended up getting enough coal to fill all of my reserves, so the generator would never go down. Also put a steam hub near the mine so the automoton would refuel and instantly go back to work.
We need more games like this. We need a Ashpunk setting near a volcano hot molted lava rivers flowing around my city. And I need to cool my people down otherwise they become overly fatigue, Dizzy or burned up. Would love the opposite of this game and also I need to get frostpunk too.
Proud to say that i managed to clear A New Home without requiring child labour. Glad to try some attempts in endless mode to see how long i can keep the children from mines.

From how I have been playing with the last 2 100 days in frostpunk I think that could be pretty easily done honestly. It would require a little planning at the beginning but it wouldn't be the most difficult
But it’s hard because people overreact to the problems the game throws at you they panic because hope is going down or coal is running out and they overcompensate, one thing leads to another and then the city is ruled by a all seeing dictator, I love watching people who are new to the game flail around and overcompensate.
It depends on what start you do. If you play Endurance Mode you will have less resources over all and much harsher weather. The late game storms last two days and are -100C and -120C cold. You are required to use overdrive mode if you do not want to freeze to death. In Serenity Mode you have more starting resources, unlocked all basic tech or gathering resources as well as milder weather. The late game storms only reach -90C cold. In order to get cores and more workers, you need to get a scouting party ASAP. In endless survivors and cores are pretty much always as far away as possible. So getting scouting speed and more scouts is important.
