@@buddhadey167 You are right about Attam. We actually watched Aattam last year in MAMI hence got left out in this discussion. Having said that, one of the finest from Indian Cinema in recent times

@@filmkopathyes its a great movie which many reviewers are missing dont understand why. I think people mistake it for a 2023 movie, where actually it released in india at Jan 2024

Brother, we were just teasing Arup, as there are different fan groups of all the superstars you mentioned and saying one is better than the other might put one in trouble, all in good fun 😊 Thank you for watching 😁

I do not want to comment about with the choice. I have not seen some of them but my personal view is Malayalam films are definitely not reaching the standards they set for themselves. Personally I did not like any of the movies in last double of years other than Kanthal.
My personal favorite this year are all hindi films not in any particular order.
    Marry Christmas
    All india Rank
    Lapatta Ladies
    LSD 2
According to me they are exceptional films.
Sorry I did not like and did not finish any Malayalam film this year.😂

why do you feel Malayalam films are not reaching the standards they had set ?

Kaathal is a good movie, so was lapata ladies. But I personally enjoyed avesham the most. That being said, each of these movies are really different, and comparing them would be just stupid, well that's just what I believe

@@filmkopath There are many reasons. First of all according to me their subjects are becoming repetitive.
I very minutely observed their scripts are having same structure. I almost expect the film to unwind same way. I can give you specific example.
I am not very aware of Malayslam society as such though I have some Malayalam friends who are quite rich and would not say very common but the subjects I felt are going away from common people's subject. And I definitely feel they have started chasing their succes and in micro level and to an extent macro level becoming repetitive.
The kind of film I want to see needs a common people or common incident in the core. There is a very specific reason why I choose All India Rank. When the girl explains the Physics with the dust the film elevates itself to a notch higher.
I have not seen anything like that in Malayalam film lately and basic rawness of common people story what they showed in Great Imdiqn Kitchen has started missing. At least for me.

I would have to differ. How is Goat’s Life having similar structure to Aavesham and any of them having similarity to Manjummel Boys or Aattam or Malaikottai Vaalivan or Premalu. In fact the beauty is in the difference they have.

@@filmkopath in the script level they are using the same style. I have not seen Premalu so I cannot comment but if you watch minutely in the micro level the building boxes are almost identical.
      .
Also none of these are common story of common people. So according to me they are slowly started chasing the success and at a certain point that very theme of something out of the ordinary actually becomes boring.
And slowly this will come to the micro level. You have tell the story of ordinary people. There films you have mentioned (cannot comment on Premalu) are not ordinary stories. But definitely Great Indian Kitchen was.
By the way I think Msnjumal Boys and Goat life are not great films. They have made much better films than those films.
