An absolute masterpiece. The more you watch it, the more you will like... Every character is etched with great detail. The movie is blessed with the most alluring BGM ever.....probably rivalling only Namukku Parrkan Munthiri Thoppukal (NPMT). Clara, Johnson Master & Padmarajan Sir live for ever... A movie nonpareil.
In the past I have watched movies where the girl who is a sex worker is either shown as pitiable or a sort of over romanticized, where the guy pines for and loses himself due to the love he feels for her. When my friends introduced this as romantic.... I just couldn't see the romance aspect of it and wondered how is it romantic. After seeing this essay on the movie, I feel you have incredibly given voice to what I felt, while I watched . Thanks for reintroduced me to this gem.

Sad that in spite of making numerous cult movies, Padmarajan didn’t receive the deserved accolades then! Great work bro. Try to watch other Padmarajan movies - Namukku parkan munthirithoppukal, innale , koodevide, moonnam pakkam, kallan pavitran, to name a few that might be of interest!
