Hello I'm sorry for the some mispronounced words some mistakes in this video
Like i- i said the story revolves around the Ramayana for the first film "Raja harishchandra "but it's actually inspired from Markandeya Purana not ramayana which I'm sorry I also mispronounced some words, like 'Pather Panchali', which i already put a disclaimer in the beginning but still sorry and used incorrect titles like 'Main Hoon Joker' instead of 'Mera Naam Joker', and 'Momento' instead of 'Memento'. Additionally, I referred to Rohit Shetty's 'Spy Universe' as 'Cop Universe'.
I apologize for these errors, which were due to a tight deadline. I had only one week to read and research, one week to script, and one week to edit. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to double-check my mistakes.
I promise to correct them in my next video. Thank you for watching, and I apologize again for any mistakes in this video if I missed.

You tried to tackle too many issues which made the video a mess {acc. to me} & there are certain arcs which need a more nuanced discussions but i agree with many of the issues though with my own spin.

P.S. - I have watched Iranian, French & other nationalities movies, International masala & art movies etc. I have read intellectual takes abt. them and never felt satisfied with any of them {found most of them to be too pretentious} though they helped me learn abt. noting nuances which i missed when i watched movied without any info.
Also Indian movies used to have political ideological propaganda esp. since 60's {notice which political parties were overtly shown or which ideoological position movie portrayed as good}, 80's were high mark of 'Parallel cinema' & all this in 90's got replaced by romance, thriller-suspence etc. I don't see copying movies or art as wrong / bad as well but the issues of homogenity & stories becoming too formulayic are real but not limited to Indian cinema alone.

just liek kids need to be told what is good food, audience need to be told whats good cinema...left alone everyone will consume adult films and slapstick comedies...problem stvarted when the mafia and underworld started getting dominannt in indian cinema and economic turmoil made quick profits more enticing than real art...also the whole filmfare, IIFA circus, basically created cartels and a feudal system that most big industry suffers from...Indian audience initially was backward...now it is being intentionally kept so...

They were modelled after Nautankis (Indian dramas) which were famous among Indian public before the advent of movies. Nautankis had songs, dance along with drama. They were known with different names in different places in India. For example they were known as Jatra in Bengal. Mumbai film industry was heavily influenced by Parsi Theatres centred in Mumbai. Sir Satyajit Ray's statement was so true because Indian cinema particularly Bollywood has no identity of its own, we can barely produce timeless pieces of cinema, we refuse to authentically connect with our true culture and past and it is sadly reflective of the mindset the masses possess, absolutely no will for introspection, no tolerance for criticism of the colonization induced morals we still uphold and seemingly no will to improve . Bollywood seriously needs to understand that the same cycle of mundane thrown in and out ideas won't cut it anymore especially now that more people have access to more foreign cinema. True creativity is never nurtured through trends

The apt question should be "What happened to Indian Audiance". Family audiance had completely ditched the theaters for other affordable forms of entertainment.
70% of theater audiance these days are teenagers and young adults mostly mens, they prefer action, hero elevation, item songs, stunts, boom baam like a circus. The rest are young females accompanying the males. Since the Target audiance Today is under 30 age men's, the product (cinema) has also changed.
This same stuff is seen in USA aswell, these days only superhero or remakes of old franchises get funded in USA, everything else fails to work, Like satyajit said theater audiance are turning unsophisticated(again). Audience also plays a part in this . Like for the most part even in the US , most people who watch movies in theatres are big families or teenagers who mostly go to theaters to have a good time and enjoy any flashy movie that has a huge poster or advertisement behind it, these flashy movies who have spend a lot of time in marketing gain a huge amount of profit from it too. People who enjoy watching creative and artistic movies are the same people who go to theatres just to enjoy watching movies , they don't care about marketing or flashing posters and ads , nor they care about having occasional fun with their families and friends , they are simply there to watch the movies and enjoy the experience. The latter kind of people are the main audience of creative and artistic movies

It is the filmmaker's motive that truly counts. In India, the majority of people who make famous films do so primarily for financial gain; they are oblivious to the artistic realm of cinema and lack knowledge of the language of cinema. Only a few genuine, artistically and socially conscious filmmakers, like Satyajit Ray, have been born in this country.A culture that is neither artistic nor intellectually stimulating is created and shaped by the popular Indian movies. People get only a huge dopamine and adrenaline surge from this kind of entertainment. These days Pushpa aand Bahubali receiving national prizes is terribly regrettable😢

I liked them all even through they were commercial. Comedian Jagdeep used to say that the cinema was the biggest classroom where fiction was used to embellish the fact and values were used to inspire virtue. Starting with the hollowness of the Garibi Hatao movement and its subsequent avatars of the Nav Nirman movement, the youth became self-indulgent and addicted to the quick fix of violence. So, the medium moved into the escapist domain of fantasy, where all problems were not resolved by the force of conviction of the character, but dissipation of a Dionysean orgy. The hero stopped being an epitome of virtue like Dharmendra, and instead became an embodiment of self-indulgence like Bachchan. O tempora, o mores ! The hero is not an embodiment of Apollo, but is an expression of Dionysius.

For developing a "good" taste we have turn our heads and look for the classics, The legendary canons. Only after that we can classify which should be consumed and then only the very rare but deserving artists who are losing motivation will arise and a significant change in the whole artistic industries may be seen.

You plz watch what K. vishwanath of telugu cinema did movies like sagarasangamam, swarnakamalam, shankarabharanam, swathi muthyam, swayam krushi ... and also, Many movies of Senior NTR who played krishna and Rama.. It was just something else.. The dialogue delivery and every character actor was extremely good even if it is a small role.. Some movies are MAYABAZAAR.. this movie has all veteran legendary stars of telugu industry and true legends. Krishna pandeveeyam, krisharjuna yudham, shri krishna tulabharam and many more. Rama in lava kusa, shri ramanjaneya yudham.
Watch also movies such as Bala bharatham which is the childhood version of mahabharatham where rivalry between pandavas and kauravas is shown. This movie has Sri devi as a child artist.
I am disappointed that you didnt include any south movie which is legendary but you put a poster of all south heros and satyajith ray as ultimate... There were others too..

An artist's biggest accomplishment is when he/she successfully hides his work in the illusion of "Original" by making it's work that nobody ever knows from where this is copied or inspired from

It's Haunting how Mr Ray's statement really aged well.Their are few projects of Raj Kapoor that I really appreciate..one of them being Shree 420. But tbh, the authentic and real version of Indian Cinema died with movie directors Like Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Bimal Roy, Shakti Samanth,Basu Chatterjee, Vijay Aanand and My personal favorite- Gurudutt Sahab...these were the people who created the idea of Indian cinema. Sad to see that I am living in dumb era full of dumb Mfs who will never understand what Indian cinema really was..

The world needs more people like you who are open on exploring the 'almost lost' side of indian cinematography... I've been watching Gurudutt's movie since 7/8 because my grandparents made me fall in love with cinema from those era who were themselves a big fan of Gurudutt and Mr Ray respectively.so much so, that my grandma Travelled all the way to Bombay for the first time to attend the premiere of his movie 'Chaudhavi ka Chand'...I also suggest you to also watch Kaagaz ke Phool which is also a complete masterpiece, it's sad for me that he never got his recognition in his lifetime.Trust me, you'll fall in love with his work!.@@princesolanki5914

One thing I like to mention is that Swades movie is inspired by the 2003 Kannada film Chigurida Kanasu. Another point is every movie in history is inspired from some other movie or novels at differing extents, that itself is not an issue as long as they bring something new to their audience.
