This is such a therapy to get inside the minds of these brilliant people. Maari stood out for me for keeping it real without any sugarcoating. How painful to think from his perspective even for writing a story or staging a scene . We as a society still got a long way to go and we need more such people to bring out their stories. Thank you BR and Galatta Plus for this. I guess we are at a inflecting point in Tamil cinema where Directors are sitting at the helm and rightly so.

Insights like these are gold. What an interview this was. Thank you Galatta Plus and Mr. BR. The program never felt rigid as a conventional interview format. Great fluidity. Brilliant brilliant work.

I would've paid good money to hear them talk for a few more hours it was that good. Although it was close to 2 hours, it felt more like only half an hour had passed. BR is an excellent interviewer. Handled the convo in a way only he could. The only disappointment for me is i couldn't get to hear maniratnam speak more, Mari kept on interrupting but that's him trying to pick MRs brain and trying to understand what MR thinks about various problems he is facing. On the whole, I enjoyed it a lot more than last year's one.
Understood why Mani Ratnam is a genius director with 40 years of successful career.... He advocates and follows - i have 2.5 hours to use my voice. If it's misinterpreted, it's my fault. Wow! That's something all the creators should aim to practice!
Good to see directors supporting each other and accepting their suggestions. Like Vetri changed climax scene after Ameer advise. And Maari taking care of dubbing for Asuran on behalf of Vetri. It's Great to see Mani sir cracking timing jokes. ❤
We can see...mari is still gathering thing to give a real cinema for us...appreciating his involvement in the making.. Better than making movies with black smoke or periodic clipps film😊
Mari is such a gem to tamil cinema, tbh his movies always have such a personal connection and it’s so refreshing to hear him speak. The entire discussion about the censor issues and the censor officer telling him that the names of his characters have to be removed cus HE is doing the film just shows the volume that his movies speak ❤
The smiles of these top directors at 18:00 subtly reveal a known but often unspoken industry truth: even movies with little story can be highly profitable if they feature a top hero. This highlights how star power, not just story depth, can drive a film's success.
It seems the so called ‘numbers’ , ‘social media reviews’ is affecting the makers especially Mr.Mari Selvaraj In my opinion this pressure should not be transferred to writers which will affect the fraternity And Mr.Mari and Others please continue to do what you wish to do Here we audience are there to appreciate & question you only for your works and not for numbers. Finally thanks Mr.Bardwaj Rangan for excellent session was expecting Mr.Karthick Subbaraj but it’s ok Came here after the loss of India in Finals this gives me peace❤
Hello BR, I watched this interview and was really disappointed. I want to share my opinion about this round table interview especially concerning the direction of the discussions. In many round table interviews, including this one, the focus tends to lean heavily on film logistics, box-office collections, actors' markets, and budget. Personally, I find it disheartening that there is limited exploration of the craft of filmmaking. I believe it would be more beneficial to aspiring filmmakers and cinephiles if the discussions delved into the filmmaker's voice, unique making styles, and storytelling nuances. I'm eager to hear about the filmmaker's voice, making style, and storytelling rather than delving into useless logistics and box office discussions. As an interviewer, BR, you should provide room for conversations about filmmaking, craft, and writing. I hope this interview, watched by budding filmmakers and cinephiles, will offer valuable insights into the creative process. What will they take away from production logistics questions? I find the first 30 minutes of the video tiresome, akin to some useless Kodambakkam terrace chat. I don't blame the filmmakers gathered here; I'm suggesting they didn't receive good questions that could have sparked meaningful discussions about storytelling and filmmaking. Questions about inspirations, idea generation, writing techniques, favourite films and directors, interesting anecdotes from film production, overcoming writer's block, and narrative choices would contribute more to the audience's understanding and appreciation of the filmmaking journey. In particular, I noticed Vinoth's presence in the group, and his work which leans towards parallel cinema, he deserves separate conversations that touch on parallel cinema filmmaking, film festivals, and the broader spectrum of cinema that could be considered. As your interviews are widely watched and followed, I believe there is a responsibility to provide content that is both engaging and valuable. I trust that with a slight adjustment in the types of questions asked, future interviews can foster more inspirational and enlightening conversations. Thank you.
Exactly. This is a shitty interview. Filmmakers talking about the box office and censor. Of course what can be expected from these mediocre dimwits who have no clue about storytelling through the visual medium.
BR is the one of the Finest Interviewer kollywood ever have.. 🔥🔥🔥 ilaina.. Silla loosunga thalaya pudikuma thalapathy'a pudikumane interview'va ootiruvanga..
These guys are meeting together once in a while. They invite MR, Shankar etc and honour them. It's more of a gathering for these directors. MR has been appreciative of this bunch for a while now. MR always talks high of the new crop of directors in Tamil cinema in his interviews. Yes, all this is happening only in the last 3-4 years. Earlier he never did that... He seems to have great affinity towards these directors.
I think we should have some one from audience end in the round table... Sometimes I feel directors understand audience incorrectly and blame them for their flaws... Still they all are extremely talented directors❤

@@raghav_rvpvera ennatha kekurade bro😂that's their business
28:04 🔥 wat an explanation Mari sir 🔥
I have not seen Mani Ratnam so excited and expressive in the years that I’ve know him 🎉🎉🎉
1:39:53 Mani's Rection was priceless 🤣
Mari selvaraj your speech ❤நிஜத்தின் வார்த்தைகள்
1:23:52 very emotional even cinema allows them been equally some hierarchy we’re controlling everywhere we should have agree that.. it may hurts suffer so much to mariselvaraj sir
Mari Selvaraj So Passionate makes me Passionate,
he does Baddy's job Better
Great on point! Questions👏❤🔥
Moodra potta
He could have done it before or after interview... He seems to be fixated on few points and resisting to talk other points
The best director in tamil Cinema of Ranjith,Vetrimaraan, Mariselvaraj,Venkatprabhu, karthisubraj,Keganavel,,, .
Madrone Ashwin is an excellent director. His movies are for society.
Maniratnam is master of story teller, legend of India cinema. Waiting for Thug life.
Only 100 lettes 😢
I love a roundtable with Nalan, Karthik subburaj, vetri, manikandan, ram and vinoth
We can see...mari is still gathering thing to give a real cinema for us...appreciating his involvement in the making..
Better than making movies with black smoke or periodic clipps film😊
After long time I am seeing Mani sir is in very light mood and fun along with hitting the points straight (as usual) 😊
Loved the end gesture by vetrimaaran 😂🖤
Mari is such a gem to tamil cinema, tbh his movies always have such a personal connection and it’s so refreshing to hear him speak. The entire discussion about the censor issues and the censor officer telling him that the names of his characters have to be removed cus HE is doing the film just shows the volume that his movies speak ❤
The smiles of these top directors at 18:00 subtly reveal a known but often unspoken industry truth: even movies with little story can be highly profitable if they feature a top hero. This highlights how star power, not just story depth, can drive a film's success.
It seems the so called ‘numbers’ , ‘social media reviews’ is affecting the makers especially Mr.Mari Selvaraj
In my opinion this pressure should not be transferred to writers which will affect the fraternity
And Mr.Mari and Others please continue to do what you wish to do
Here we audience are there to appreciate & question you only for your works and not for numbers.
Finally thanks Mr.Bardwaj Rangan for excellent session was expecting Mr.Karthick Subbaraj
but it’s ok
Came here after the loss of India in Finals this gives me peace❤
Hello BR,
I watched this interview and was really disappointed.
Thank you.
Thambi go do some real work 😂😂.
Small boy, atleast do some work.🤣
Exactly. This is a shitty interview. Filmmakers talking about the box office and censor. Of course what can be expected from these mediocre dimwits who have no clue about storytelling through the visual medium.
Good suggestions there, buddy 👍
There is a need to document these brilliant minds, only BR can do it.
Worst thing about this discussion is that it ends
BR is the one of the Finest Interviewer kollywood ever have.. 🔥🔥🔥 ilaina.. Silla loosunga thalaya pudikuma thalapathy'a pudikumane interview'va ootiruvanga..
Indha video na paathathuku reason ah Mari Selvaraj vijay ah pathi pesuna naalatha

Indha videola kuda vijay Ajith ah pathi neria pesi irukaanga
I always that Maniratnam was aloof and doesn't mingle with "local" directors.... but this time watching his interactions are warm.
25:30 Mariselvaraj - says the truth, why second half was a blunder.
Mani sir Class. 👍 1:30:21
The whole discussion was so Wholesome❤. Thank you, Galatta Plus, Baradwaj Rangan, and team, for continuing to make these.
Wow! I just loved the edit when Manirathnam said" Vetri..!" and everyone's reaction was covered in a single frame.
Vetrimaran,maniratnam,mari selvaraj❤❤️🔥
Wanted to watch the first 30 minutes of the interview and ended up watching the entire thing till 2 am. Neat stuff.
I think we should have some one from audience end in the round table... Sometimes I feel directors understand audience incorrectly and blame them for their flaws... Still they all are extremely talented directors❤
1:14:00 When Mani Ratnam says Koozhangal is the best ever in the longest time if not forever - wow!!! I could feel the tears inside me rolling down for the director PS Vinothraj
He can never get a bigger compliment 🎉
