Am disgusted with the police response, they can chase someone for miles for 10 grams of marijuana , but when something like this occurs they stay outside. They really need to reform their training, attitude and priorities, because they just ain't doing their job.

(A) SCOTUS ruled back in June of 2005 that "Police *Do Not* Have a Constitutional Duty to Protect Someone", with the case of 'Castle Rock v. Gonzales'. Seriously. No joke. The Legislature and SCOTUS could reverse this position, along with reeling in the vastly broadened use of "Qualified Immunity". Just a thought as the US has far more guns than people, which has unfortunately been the case for a long while now. And (B) Wow, what a SUPER Coincidence that the shooter just happened to go directly to an exterior door out of sight left open extremely recently timewise.
Americans For Effective Law Enforcement (AELE) has a (dot - Org) site listing the Multitude of court precedents currently in place to protect Police from a Wild Variety of Egregious acts and inactions... in case anyone is curious and would like to see for themselves.
Some members of law enforcement just want to collect a taxpayer funded paycheck until they can collect a taxpayer funded pension without ever stepping into the line of fire with their taxpayer funded helmets, body armor, rifles, and sidearms. Taxpayers really ought to be demanding money back.

@@charlye5697 The operative word here is PROTECT. There is a difference between PROTECTING and DISARMING A SHOOTER. The TEACHERS PROTECTED the children as best they could. ESLA AVILA is even said to have done so by one of her students who saw her take a bullet while PROTECTING them. ELSA had no taxpayer-funded helmet, no taxpayer-funded body armor, no taxpayer-funded rifle, and no taxpayer-funded side arm. Yet she managed to save many lives that day. I sincerely hope she is able to fully recover from her injuries and gets the recognition she deserves. Whereas law enforcement failed the children in classroom 12 miserably. Children in the classroom were on the phone with 911 for nearly an hour before law enforcement officers engaged the shooter. LE keeps telling the public they thought the shooter was alone. LE never tells us how they arrived at that conclusion. It is fair to assume NOBODY was able to account for every student and every school employee, since NOBODY could do that even after the shooter was disarmed. It took a few days to identify the dead because that is how long it took to account for everyone. So what is SCOTUS’ position on LE’s responsibility to disarm an active shooter when students are telling 911 that they are trapped in a room with the shooter?
LE should not expect to walk away from this smelling like roses, so they need to STOP RATIONALIZING THEIR INACTION . Teachers and children died because of their inaction. Nobody cares what the commander off site thought or did not know. What the public is seriously starting to wonder is why blue lives matter more than their lives? Do we really need riots to get LE to end the idiotic black out flag culture and just do their jobs? The attitude in LE these days is SICKENING. Since when do we let self-serving cowards and idiots lead the brave and intelligent? Something decrepit exists inside the ranks of many LE departments and there really needs to be regular testing/review of those promoted to lead so we can be sure the cowards and the idiots haven’t manipulated their way into ranks they have no balls or brains for.
And get rid of the LE slogan ’TO PROTECT AND SERVE’ if it is meaningless.
In an interview with one of the kids, the kid, who was hiding under a table, heard a cop call out “yell if you need help”. The cop did this while the shooter was still active. The kid said a little girl cried out “help me” in response the shooter, “shot her in the face.” She died. Guns don’t protect people, people with courage protect people.

It’s more than just a 10-minute lesson to be able to shoot an assailant who is not only moving but armed with assault rifles and protective gear - that’s where security/police are trained and responsible.

One student played dead by smearing blood on herself from a student that was laying dead next to her. These stories are usually war time stories, but this student was only 10 or 11 years old.

So, in this situation, in this town, the police are worthless. Time and again this happens and the police are not properly trained for this type of situation. Someone in the police department is criminally negligent.
The police Captain, the mayor, city council? ... All of them.

If Congress is not going to change gun laws they need to make sure this situation is the number one priority of all policemen's job and not the job of trying to calm parents out in the parking lot while they can hear the screams of their children as the gun shot are going off at a methodical pace. "Tactical" is another word for training. If they do not want to do their job then let them get a job they do want to do.

It's this new generation. Something needs to be fixed. Not saying what but back when I went to school you didn't have this happening. There were incidents like Columbine that were massive deals. We never had to have metal detectors or lock our doors. Now there's multiple mass shootings every year. Something needs to change. Avoiding debate but I think it can be agreed things aren't right with our youth.
