Had to go back and find this Video. Going to do the same repair but pass side on mine. After I get done replacing the transmission Skid plate Nutserts when they get in. Rebuild my front driveshaft, replaced the transmission mount. New fluids in the trans and transfer case. Not looking forward to doing this job. But will for sure have my face shield on.
Wow Pete, you sure are gonna be busy! Yes don't do like me. Please make sure to wear a face shield. I had safety glasses on and it wasn't enough. Good luck!!!
Great video, Steve. End product looks really nice! Glad the eye wasn’t too bad off; hope it’s fully recovered now m. Great safety tip/reminder for everyone. Amazing how that stuff finds its way around safety glasses.
Great video,I just bought 30.00 membership at harbor freight.I’m going to buy the same welder and do the same exact thing to my 2000 TJ. I already have everything but a welder. Thanx for a great video
I really like that welder. I purchase a $30 membership 2 days ago. This welder is $159 with membership. I bought it on sale for $179 lol a while back. Thanks for watching!
This is really helpful. I've had the same replacement part sitting in my garage - but I was not too sure if I could do it with a grinding wheel. Next weekend is going to be a bunch of fun!
Thanks Man good video. Working on my jeep now. I'm doing the same thing but I got to replace all three on both sides. When I tried to loosen the bolts for the rear bushings they both broke off. So I'm gonna have to do something with those.
@@ForceBuilt You inspired me! You are a million times better than me! I'm so glad your eye is okay! I've wanted a jeep since 1997 and I just got my first. It's a 2002 tj.... it's in the rust belt of mn and it shows! Thanks for posting the nice videos and I will follow your lead! Best wishes, stay safe, and keep us posted on what you are up to!
@@richardalvarado4334 Still undecided about the spare. My tire isn't a matching tire or wheel so I don't really want to spend the money on those. Tire cover???? I have seen the MOR-Ryde hinges. They look great. I replace one hinge pin in my OEM ones and seem to be doing great. I have some things coming up for JJ Yes. I am actively looking for another jeep build. My brother just purchased a 2015 mustang that I will have to help him build. I know it's not a jeep but he asked me to document it for him. So I will put the videos here. Thanks Richard!
Wire welding is easy. I just got some scraps of metal and put them together. Try it out. You can get it figured out. A grinder does wonders to make rough welds look better also. Good luck
Thanks for making this video! I'm looking at replacing two of the middle body mounts on my TJ. How much clearance were you able to get between the body and the frame by removing and loosening the body mount bolts that you did? I'm just wondering about how far I can go without causing problems somewhere (not sure where, maybe the transmission shifter). Thanks again, this is really informative.
I got a piece of rust stuck deep in my eye when I was grinding. They had to dig it out with a needle. Terrifying to see them coming at your eye with a needle. Anyway, nice TJ. Mine is must rustier then yours. Have a lot of patching to do this summer. That whole corner is rotting away
Great video Steve! Can I do this repair without removing the 3 body bolts on the other side of the Jeep? Those three are stuck. I can get all the rest out.
Thanks Kevin! Honestly I don't know. I think that might work though. I didn't try to do it without loosening those bolts. I would think you should be able to flex the mounts enough to get in there. I would suggest trying that before you purchase a repair patch. Good luck and let me know how it goes. That will be helpful info here for someone else. Thanks!
I don't remember. I actually measured the piece that I was welding and set the welder according to that. There are instructions on the inside of the lid of the welder. As for the wire, I used the stuff that came with it. When I run out, I will be buying Lincoln wire. Thanks!
POR 15 is the product that prevents rust. You will brush it on. Then I sprayed a bed liner coating from an aerosol can. Here is the POR 15 amzn.to/3BqsUSl. Here is the spray bed liner amzn.to/3Htk5va. Hope this helps!
Wish they had made them for CJ's... Can you tell me please how wide the TJs are where the mounts are, the part these will go over? Maybe I can make these work for me... Just saw your link pay for them so I revised...
Ok, I just check and I think the site is down for some reason. I think it will come back up hopefully. I will reach out to the owner of the site and see what's going on.
Great work as usual! Kinda off this topic but what suspension are you running with the 32” tires? I looked back and only could find where you took the body lift off. I see some front spacers in random shots too but didn’t see any suspension videos. Thanks and keep up the great content!
Well everything is stock as far as I know. I put 3/4" spacers on top of the coils in the front only. I wondered if someone had changed the springs out. I have seen some TJ's that are way shorter than mine and that got me thinking that someone could have changed the springs. Another thing it could be is that it is only a 4cyl with a soft top. So less weight pressing on the springs. What are you thoughts on JJ's Height?
@@ForceBuilt I really like the way it sits but it does look higher than stock. Probably does have different springs. Mine is a 2.5L 5spd with 4:10 gears. I think 32” tires would be just right for me. Not too big to affect the power. Are those fender flares also bigger?
Thanks Jim! These bolts were pretty new. If you watch my body mount removal video, you will see the fight lol. It was messed up to say the least. I don't think I made that video look easy haha. Thanks for watching!

hi , can you give the info of what setting did you use on your welder and what flux did you used .?

did you have to repaint the interior floor after welding this piece in ?
No, I didn't. I have bed liner sprayed in and it held up. It lifted a little from the heat but it is a non traffic area. Thanks for watching!

Yes, the fender flares are bigger. Not sure what brand. I thought about putting stock ones back on.
Guys use full face shields, saftey glasses don't work at all kinds of different angles.
You are correct! I found out the hard way. I mention this at the end of the video also. Thanks for the input!
Can't find the web sight to order the patches can you help me out
I have links in the description and also pinned in the top comment. Those are the only ones I have.
Could you have torched off the rust area?
I don't think so. Afraid it would get the inside too hot. If you were real careful I guess it would be possible. A plasma cutter would do a good job.
Come on now, can't at least break one bolt, if I got two bolts to do diffently breaking one. Ya make it look to easy as I said before
