Amazing work Justin, really impressive repair kit and the finished repair looks better then factory. Nice job
This gives me hope i can save my tj, the jeep is in great condition until you see all the rust underneath
Great video man. You’re giving me hope for my TJ lasting once it gets this bad!
Very professional and detailed walk through on how to repair a rotted Jeep Wrangler Frame. I also liked the information on pricing for the repair. It was quite helpful especially when you are looking for a repair shop to get the job done for you.
Wow! Thank you for this excellent educational video. The Jeep with the Rubicon package got me excited until I heard it was an automatic transmission. The auto transmission is a negative not a positive. The owners of Jeeps in the "Rust Belt states" have my respect for what they have to deal with in the winter up there. I am envious of your excellent shop! That is some beautiful welds on that frame repair. Job well done, Carry On Sir.
I was thinking real hard about buying a Jeep but after researching all the rust issues they are a HARD pass for me. Thank God for RUclips and for you posting this.
Original owner of a spec-ordered 1997 TJ Sport (yep, still own it and drive it almost daily). Roughly 9 years ago, I paid to have Endangered Species Jeep (Holyoke MA) to “rebuild” my Jeep’s frame…they used Safe T Cap, manufactured in Rhode Island (I think). Jeep has 150+ on the clock….and that frame repair “saved her life”! Now I’m retired….and seriously considering a complete TJ restoration (all my kids learned to drive stick in her….I don’t have the heart to get rid of it - although I’ve had some remarkably insane offers to buy her!!) . My frame repair is still going strong! I’m a fan of Endangered Species….but you guys have a great reputation as well. Anyone considering this repair? Short of a complete frame replacement, I can’t imagine a better solution. Highly recommend it! Great video, amigo…..I enjoyed seeing how this was done!
Great work Justin 👍
That's a awesome repair. Would of never thought of doing it that way
Very Nice Work! Now I know where to go if my TJ finally succumbs to the Northeast.
That's pretty neat that the company makes those parts all bent up and ready to be put in. Nice job Justin keep up the good work very well done
Big money for fabrication shops selling those.Because they are high demand and not many people make them, they kinda have a niche market.
Excellent work on rust remediation. Also nice to see an LJ Rubihara.
Nice job !! a young kid did the jeep i bought i will do it again !! thanks very informative !!
Looking forward to getting the 56 in
Great job, lots of information. You guys know your stuff.
Jeep should have a done a recall for this. Seriously blows my mind that there are thousands of wranglers from the early 00s with this issue.
I have caught myself watching every single one of these frame repair videos, and I have to say, I am impressed with your quality of work, what you include in the videos, and just finding it satisfying that these vehicles, which would normally be on their Deathbed, are given a new lease on life.
I understand why you find this kind of work satisfying and why you share it, keep up the good work man!
Went and checked my frame after watching. Rust through frame makes a grown man cry.
My 02 4.0 in AZ IS SO PERFECT. What I'm seeing on your channel is something I've never seen.
So disturbing!
Great doc.
Thank you! And I appreciate you talking about cost. I know situations vary...but it is good to hear a base amount for us non-car-fixer-upper people. My 2006 Wrangle has a rusty frame I need to have fixed...maybe there is a little hope for it.
Artist level work Sir, well done!
Thank you!
nice work man
Amazing vid !
That’s really amazing what you did with that Jeep blessing will have to soon bring you my Jeep thank you
I’m from Connecticut will be contact your soon 🤝
I drilled holes in my patch parts before installation and welded through to the frame...much easier than welding along the top of the frame..
You the man !!
Just lost my 04 to this, I could cut it out, but I can't weld, not like that, lol. Came out beautiful !!
Great video very detailed
Those repair kits are sweet.
I have been looking at used wranglers for quite some time. Every one I have looked at has a rusted frame. I mean everyone. The seller sometimes does not even know it till I point it out. Best way is to put your finger in the oval hole near the control arm mount in the front and you can feel the flakes of rust. Worse in Ct. with the liquid rot the state uses.
Fantastic video and amazing work! I am looking at a few different LJ's and now I know where to look for potential issues.
Great video, dude! And i don’t even own a Jeep. But will keep you in mind if I get one that needs framework.
Wow this brings back memories! I had the same job done but we took the body off...Then we found more gremlins! I actually picked up my SafeTCap from the factory in RI. Really great team of fabricators I even got a shop tour.
stephen hunter that’s awesome!
stephen hunter How much did the repair cost you?
@@Cheesin31 Great question....It was a while back and I'm over seas now I don't have the records on hand. I needed a clutch. My family mechanic freaked out when the frame turned to dust. The jeep sat for months while i researched and found SafeTCaps. I was just south of Boston so they referred me to O'handley Auto in Taunton, MA. Great guy! When he explained the tub off procedure I got the repair kit and loaded my truck with all the replacement parts I had been collecting. I had frame, body mounts, torque box, ball joints, RC lift, stabilizer, tires, and a few other things done.
If the tubs are taken off not only is the repair easier, but customers who are strapped for time will elect to have other needed repairs done increasing your business. Look up and call Mike O'handley. His team has it down to a science. Takes a little more than 1 hour to have the whole tub off from grille to spare up in the air.
Great video!!
We've had 3 Wranglers with this issue. Couldn't save the '95, the '98 we're going to get the Safe T Caps for and the 99 has already been done. If you own a Wrangler in the northeast and drive it in winter you absolutely have to get that frame blown out and washed out every spring and get the inside oiled. Do the rest of the underside too and all the panels you can reach. Salt is a bear. Meanwhile, my '58 and '59 CJs are still solid and earning their keep!
Your work is amazing. 01 sequoia in Michigan
Hi, I live in Vermont with real tough Inspection. Well it pass with the frame repair. Thanks
I have had 3 pass NY state inspection so I imagine VT shouldn't be a problem.
Evo mirage mashup seems awesome
Keep the good work
great video.. I just figured out that my body mounts/floor support are is rusting out on my 04 Wrangler and I am researching how to get it fixed.. after watching this, I will be looking at the frame tomorrow as well and see if there is rust there. to bad I live in Montana or I would bring my jeep by your shop
Great job!!!! Please, show more clips of the finished product. I’d like to see how the entire undercarriage looks after it’s done. Can fuel tank on a Jeep JK be painted black?
I just done this to my jeep. I chose to remove the tub so to weld easier.
Amazing job!! 👍🏾💪🏾✊🏾👌🏾
Thank you 😊you guys are awesome!! where are you located hopefully close to philly...great job!! You give hope to all jeep lovers you know how we love our jeeps thanks again!!😊👍
Central ct so not that far
thank you very much , so helpfull video, good luck with your business
I just had my tj done it it was eleven hundred i just have to shoot EASTWOOD INTERNAL FRAME COATING 14 OZ AEROSOL inside to prevent internal rust
Whatever you're paid. It looks well worth it!
Great instruction on how to replace the rails. Question, how do you get the tub rails out? I have drilled out the spot welds, have the body raised up, but can't get it to come loose. Any suggestions?
Thats some quality structural frame rot from jeep
awesome job! we have a 2001 TJ that needs this done. trying to find local person in DE, will look on website
Great Videos, but I have a question, How are you welding the top of the rear trail arm,on the inside of the frame? Do we have to lift the body for access?
I have a 2 door cherokee with a small rust hole in the floor and the body shop wants almost as much as you said you charged for the frame repair in tommys video
Really good video and you're obviously one of the good guys. If you are tensioning a chassis do you allow for springback after welding on the new steel? Also, would drain holes in the bottom webs of the new steel help?
Man your brave having that thing up like that with a frame that bad 😂. Stay safe.
I'm hooked on your channel I heard all the crunching I knew it was rust from the jeep my jeep has some holes like that on the bottom but the rest is like hard rust but I need to dive deeper in mine. I had been told mine could be fix by a welder who loves jeeps he saves a lot of jeeps but now he broke his arm so now I'm looking for local welder to fix mine thanks for letting me know your location
LOL it's well wroth the money up until you mentioned automatic transmission I agreed with you LOL
Looking at that frame it seems obvious that the owner applied Fluid Film to the outside and didn't spray inside (there's a 360° tube style spray cap attachment designed specifically for this) the tube frame. Proper application is everything. Jeep frames typically are rotted worse inside than outside because the outside can dry and the inside traps moisture.
I see you are in " Better yet Connecticut" too LMAO. I didn't know frames rotted in CT. I'm a liar too. Great video and option for the Jeeps. I will keep in mind if I buy a rotted frame.
Repair looked really good. Damn de-icing crap they put on the road. Didn't see too many drain holes in the repair tho. Around here, the trucks just pour the de-icing crap on the road and I haven't seen any sand. Windshield hasn't had any dings tho from the lack of sand tho. Your prices for the repair was reasonable for the work involved which not every shop can do.
Hey great work, do you have any idea where can I get some of those plates but for a 07 Chevy trailblazer
Never knew those had frame issues. Must be real bad here in Michigan. Maybe I'll start a jeep frame repair. Lol
Chrysler should be sued for their crappy design and materials that were used in the TJs and LJs...Toyota frame settlement comes to mind...
For people's laziness to maintain a box frame?
Great job loved it looking to buy a jeep if I find a surprise I no we’re to go thanks
Your brave for putting that on the lift
Did you support the vehicle any other way other than the jacks under where the body mounts? Is it safe to cut out parts of the bottom of the frame if the top of the frame is clean like yours? Thanks for the video!
Thank you for this kick ass video..! You just saved my Jeep TJ..!
Justin, do you have a video specific to the replacement/reinforcement of the "body mounts". I have an '02 TJ in desperate need, thanks. Jozane.
how did you coat the inside? what did you use to paint the frame? I saw primer above the passenger rear Lca, but what did you use over top? thanks
i had a 99 sahara in hunter green
Mines next!
Wonder If I can find clean frames here in Middle Ga and post them up lol , Great Work Justin!, always Enjoy your Explaining and teaching !!
You can find it there but who will replace it? It is massive job that would cost thousands.
Zeljko Situm no kidding captain- did you not notice the lol - was a joke - please find a life other than comments....
I’m looking for something I can work on in my garage to learn on. Would you recommend a wrangler and if so any particular years/models?
Do you prime-and paint the inside of the frame and new cap before you wild them in otherwise the new cap will rust from the inside.
Great video will be a avid viewer!!!
Where are you guys, looks like good work.
Central CT
At what point do you think a new frame would be needed rather than a safe t cap? Also would a Yj be same price as a Tj?
Did jeep correct that issue with the newer models or are they all the same?
Hi I had a question I live in pa . I just recently had this done to my tj . I had both center sections done and both front and rear trailing arms also. I noticed the front and rear tailing section had a drain hole but my center skid sections didn't. would you recommend drilling holes in them just incase water would get in them. please get back to me I know your very good at what you do and would love your opinion . thanks
I moved to Fl and got away from rust. The vehicles here are extremely rust free unless you got salt water on them from unloading boats from trailers then it is worse than up north, so always be careful and inspect vehicle before buying no matter where you buy it.
@morfabnindustries work, all said and done, do you reccomend POR 15 for Jeeps? did it help or hurt?
What did you coat the inside of the frame rails with?
I'm in Wolcott CT and bumbed into this video. I have an 07 wrangler JK sahara unlimited with rust issues badly.I. Need work done.
Shoot me an email jpmorfius@gmail.com
MUst be a pain in ass trying to paint it proper with everything around it??, how were the bottom of the roll bar /torx box behind each seat??.
A legit wesit for Jeep and many other's even JDM trucks
I love your videos man, great info. I’m doing the center and front control arm sections on a TJ in my garage. It’s a kewl job to do buts it’s definitely labor intensive. Gonna chop the upper control mounts today. Did you say you coat the inside of the frame too? What do you use for that, like a weld through primer?
Weld through primer and then fluid film once the job is done.
Quick question...did that price you gave include the caps?
What do you undercoat with?
I have a 2004 lj I've had it since it's been new and it spent 10 years in the south so no rust. I'm now back in the north but drive it very little 3k per year so I hope the frame holds up.
Why you just hope. Spray inside and outside with some wax/oil.
@@zell863 actually I wire brushed the frame completely clean and painted it with three coats of rust prohibited paint then I bought a fluid film gun and fluid filmed it inside and out.
@@rodneyavery3537 I'm not expert neither pro about painting and waxing/oiling. From my experience paint is just at way of Cosmoline or Lanolin (fluid film). So far that I see spraying Cos or FF directly at rust is right way. I experimented a lot with Cold galvanizing spray and it work somewhat. www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1595021-ten-year-of-using-cold-galvanizing-compound.html . Problem with it is need clean metal for work, is not water protective and it is soft. I found so far best is to spray Cosmoline directly at rust. Of course for cavities simply fill in as who know where is rust exactly.
I fixing my jeep TJ but i see the differential is moved to one side and don't know why. can you give me some ideas what happened.
Thanks for actually tossing the base price in there.
Hate that I just moved to FL from over by CT. My TJ is looking nasty after a few years of plowing.
I'm actually looking at buying a Jeep just like that (Khaki LJ Rubicon Sahara). I hope it's not that rusty!
It turns out it's pretty bad. Had at least one hole in the frame that's minimum 6-8 inches.
So you know MorFab most people want a price so they can plan ahead, Estimate is good too gives us an idea of what to expect, or the should I keep this jeep or just junk it. if it costs thousands not worth while to repair on just a cheap jeep but might be on a more expensive jeep or one you put a lot of money into
Ok first off that’s a crazy fair price! I need to send you some pictures of my TJ and possibly bring it to you. I like how you explained everything. I have one question though...my TJ has some bad body rust is that something you guys can fix as well? The rust is mainly around the floorboards and under the doors as well as the body mounts near the skid plate.
I don't usually do body work but I'll gladly take a look
Where are you guys located.. And how much would it cost to redo a frame for an 2003 TJ
great job, my 2002 is in need of some help, where are you located? thanks..
can you do a chevy s10 with rusty frame?
amazing what would a job like that cost
God bless your heart for fixing this car. I personally would want nothing to do with the liability a job like this brings with it.
Also i dont think that this car is worth as much as you think with a repaired frame. At least in wisconsin you have to disclose frame repairs when you sell a car ( at least dealers have to) and as soon as you have frame repair done your value drops by 50-70%
To retain value as far as it being collectible you would have had to replace the entire frame.
Also, i didnt see you drill drain holes in the aftermarket pieces you installed and i have not seen you spray the repaired frame with a rust preservative from the inside.
I guess towards the end you mentioned you are “ coating everything inside and out” but it really would have been nice to show some of it.
The videos get real long if i show it all. The inside is coated with a self etching primer and then a corrosion resistant frame paint. The same is done on the outside. And here on the east coast, people are aware of the frame rot issues and value them accordingly. They will bring more money once they disclose that the frame has been repaired. I can buy rotted tj's all day for 3k,fix the frame, and sell them for 5-7500. It also helps that I am an authorized repair facility for these very projects. I have had 2 pass state inspection with the frame repair done where they failed prior to being repaired.
@@MorFabIndustries I think overall from what I can tell in the video you did a good job! I am not picking on it at all - I have been in the welding business for 22 years myself the last 11 self-employed and there are certain jobs that can be done but I personally choose not to do - this here would be one of them. I may consider doing this to my own vehicle but not to a customers vehicle. But that is just me. the idea is good! whenever I do stuff on cars (like rockers) where a cavity is created I have a special wax rust proofing stuff I spray in that cavity with a special hose (that is my "anti-rust treatment of choice" ) that is why I asked about yours - sometimes you can learn a new trick watching someone else do things that they do for a living.
So here's my secret haha. I do all the painting in and out and then after the paint fully cures, I have the customer come back in and I blast the entire inside of the frame with fluid film 😉 I use a hose I got from Eastwood that has a multi directional nozzle on the end. It works awesome!
Very fan of your work 👍🏽👍🏽 wish you the luck and lots of work at the new shop👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 but just wondering what is your availability during these times? Im ordering some suspension parts and even tho im a tech myself I know i have to get this repair done and I will definitely trust you to do it. Im in NY so the drive ain’t a problem.
Shoot me an email jpmorfius@gmail.com and we can talk about it.
Nice work! Were are you guys located? ? ?
