    I have a 99 TJ and it has gotten me all the way through college and I know it’s going to need frame repairs soon. I’ll pay for the repairs not because it’s worth it but because it now has so much sentimental value engrained it. It’s just like you said and yes thank you for fixing them when a lot of others won’t touch ones this bad with a ten foot pole

      I got mine in 2017 from a family friend for 4800, 4.0 Liter Inline 6, 2000 with the yellow which is a rare color for that year, manual 5 speed. It took me through college as well, had a bad frame that we knew we’d have to totally replace at some point, we had it patched up multiple times in the interim but this year it had to get redone entirely. Got a perfect condition frame off a 2.5 Liter, welded the engine mounts for the 4.0 on and painted it, currently replacing my floor pans on the passenger side (both front and rear) and patching any minor rotted parts, wire wheeling and painting whatever was just surface. I just couldn’t let my college car go too for sentimental AND logistical reasons. Making sure to drill drain holes in the new frame and check it CONSTANTLY!

    Preach brother! Have spent the last four years restoring my son's 2000 TJ. Lots of surprises, lots of cursing, lots of problem solving. Replaced the frame rails from the front to the back. Replaced the body side mounts as well as the body mounts. Would not trade a single moment of working with my son on this Jeep. She's not perfect, but she's ours. And she's getting better every day. :-)
    Keep up the great work.

    gotta rinse the frame rails out every month or so and cover everything underneath in fluid film and spray it inside the frame

    These videos are amazing and I cannot thank you enough for posting them. Please do not stop. My first experience with Jeeps was as a small child going to work with my grandfather in his old CJ as a well tender for an oil and gas Company. My first jeep was a 1957 CJ and only wish I still had that one. I’ve owned Jeep’s for several years the last few have been grand Cherokee’s and I just traded my most recent one for a non-jeep. I considered one of the new wranglers but that just didn’t feel right. Your videos have taught me so much about the TJ‘s and now I want to go out and find one because I miss my jeeps. Now I know what to look for and where to go if I find one that needs work. I live several states away but I cannot imagine having anyone work on one of these vehicles but you due to your passion and your obvious knowledge of how to put these vehicles back together. Again thank you for all the knowledge you have chosen to share.

    Man, you just made me excited about a 97 TJ Sport with 4.0 that I got for $3500. I also got about $3,000 in parts given to me with it. It's my first jeep and I got the "bug." Its got a lift and a lot of customization. It does need some frame n tub work, but I love this jeep! Thanks for making these videos.

  • @Wannaridebikes

    Yes we are in the rust belt to say. And my friend is a mechanic. He’s the type that thinks my Jeep is junk. But to a Jeep guy it’s “ that can be fixed”. And I’m one of them. My Jeep has frame issue. I searched for a frame cost 500 now add price of swapping it. To my Jeep. Is like buying a whole new Jeep. Now welding a frame is easier. I paid 1250 for my 2000 Jeep Wrangler even got parts for the frame. So ya think I’m ahead of the game ....no I still need to do the frame work. However my opinion is buying frame to replace or weld it is two way different prices. And yes I’m using my Jeep to learn everything. I knew what I bought I looked at mine for a week. Before the purchase.

    I'd source a rust-free vehicle at any reasonable (extra) cost fro a Southern area before a patch job like this. I retired from N. Indiana to Florida and It's unbelievable how older cars age gracefully down here, as in TX and AZ (etc) also. Rust belt? They're all shot.

    • @migellwedderburn5706
      @migellwedderburn5706 3 года назад

      I am kind of late to the Jeep party. But I got lucky and bought a pristine frame from Yuma Arizona and had it shipped to Pennellville, NY. I couldn't believe it was only a measly $700 for the frame. The only regret was that I didn't find an honest and reputable shop like MorFab Industries to swap install it. Plus in hindsight I should have had it sandblasted and U-Pol raptored. That Raptor is the best thing since slice bread. I Raptor the front grille, side mirrors, tub interior, and fender wells/flares and drove it all year. Rust and dings are a thing of the past.

    This all wouldn't be necessary if people took preventative maintenance and took care of their frames. But a good thing for you is that most don't. What do you use for a paint on the outside of the frames after you're done repairing them?

    LOL you can disregard my comment on the last video I commented on about why you are fixing these rotted jeeps. a rotted jeep like the last one you showed after cleaning the rubberized undercoat off it would be a $2500 here or parted out. I love jeeps and agree with you everyone should be saved or repurposed not thrown away. we sold our 2013 for 18 with 50k miles never off road it was my wife's. different area demands different price i guess. anyways sorry for falling into that same group of people asking you why.

    Anyone that tells me to junk my Jeep I'll tell him or her to eat dog 🐕 litter. I have always had a Wrangler and until the day I die I will have one. I Spey fish the Salmon River and north country and I wouldn't trust any other vehicle to get me to the fishing grounds in the dead of winter with 5 feet of snow.
