Got the 83" it's awesome, almost wish I went with the 65" it's ridiculous in size, Had to move the couch from center of the room to the back, it's more like a home theater now though.
I've always loved Sony products (except for their pricing), especially their ES series receivers. As I write this I'm looking at my first ES receiver - the STR-GX10es purchased in 1990. I've also had a number of Sony 5-channel es receivers. My biggest purchase was a 55" rear projection tv - 2003. The color fidelity on this was spectacular and it brought me many years of enjoyment. While I'm not currently looking to upgrade my tv (Panasonic TC-P55ST30) if I did it would be the Sony A90J. For the high price of this set one would think that banana connectors would be the absolute way to go rather spring connectors for the center channel. Looking at the back of the set with all its high-tech wizardry and then seeing cheapo speaker connections... c'mon Sony.
This video brought me joy and sadness. Joy because it's such a beautiful TV, but sadness because I have adult responsibilities for my finances and I can't afford it right now.
I've had the 65in for about 2 wks now and I can not stop watching it, any excuse old and new content bc the upscaling is amazing and the sound with atmos makes you want to cry. A90J is a great buy! The brightness can get too bright lol its crazy! Love Guatemala.
It looks absolutely stunning. As you said both a work of art and a feat of engineering. Too many people have forgotten just how good SONY can be when they are on top of their game.
To be fair, the engineering aspects that led to this TV being this good didnt came from Sony (aside from their processors which are always great). The panel comes from LG (which includes the Neo panel this is using) and the heatsink tech is Panasonic’s
@@Estarvia umm...I think you don't understand how engineering works. LG simply provides a display panel. It's what you then do with it that matters. Otherwise a SONY, LG, and Panasonic TV would all be identical right? Sony's image processing, design of the TV, the heat sink (which did not come from Panasonic....no idea where you got that info from), and their audio tech which turns the screen into the speaker (for an example of what S0NY does with the display panel) is the feat of engineering being referred to.
Coming from Germany trips to the US are my favorite. Can‘t wait for your comparison of A90J vs G1 especially regarding game mode performance but the repeated VRR delay on Sony TVs is a bummer. Really hope they can get it released until prices drop around October/November or otherwise the G1 will be without competition for enthusiast gamers. I‘m not buying a TV with a feature promised for the future with several delays already.
Hello from Nigeria. You talk about TVs better than the manufacturer... Excellent! One question: does the Sony have subwoofer pre-out like some of their past 4k TVs do? Thanks.

I’m amazed how you guys got both the Sony A90J and the LG G1. Great review. Now I have to debate what’s more important to me, possibly the best OLED tv ever or my pockets. Any chance of dropping the 2nd LG G1 review today?
Great video as always. My favourite holiday destination is Tatooine. I might get this as the new living room TV. I bought the XH95 last year and it's brilliant. However this may force my hand.

I really don't get the practicle benefits of the new Cognitive XR processing chip Sony is using in it's new 2021 TV lineup.🤔 Dosen't the next gen A.I processing it's implementing on a scene to scene basis by analysing and changing colour, contrast and details for improvements in immersion go against how movies and TV shows are ideally meant to be watched? aka, the Creator's mode that preserves the creator's intent becoming a highlight in the past two years in the TV market. What's even more puzzling is that Sony markets 'Netflix Calibrated Mode' and 'Film maker mode' right next to this new feature. Correct me if I'm wrong but won't the processing turn off when these modes are enabled? It's pretty obvious but still I could be wrong. It's just not Sony either, others like Samsung and LG are bringing this sort of processing tech in some way or the other with newer, powerful and improved chips every year. With all the picture settings we got to manually fiddle around with out of the box to get started with accurate viewing experience this new marketing gimmick just seems to turn everything around, dosen't it?🤷🏻♂️
People don't udnerstand. Alright forget about comparisons or anything else. When this tv is in your living room or bedroom when you watch it something is special about it. It hits your focal points and you notice it. There is a reason why people's reactions when they use it for the first time is so amazing. What truely matters is what tv gives you the best feeling when watching it by itself and this us that tv. You can go back and forth and you realize woe there is just something special about this image lol. It has so much dynamic range for an oled it's truely king. It has tons of pop and impact and it also can get insane color especially if you don't mind using the extra settings. Now you will notice the best thing about this tv especially with settings is the depth snd 3 dimensionality also the bright saturated highlights the placement of specular highlights are just different so amazing.

Im more interested in 83 inch varient, but im more exited about what Sony gonna bring in 8k 120hz 88inch+ oled tvs with google tv that would be outstanding as lg z series is DOING
Love your reviews. Now that this TV has some time behind it, how does it hold up in todays market? I am specifically looking for a new 83” to replace an old Samsung QLED, and have the A80J in another room. Does this still hold the thrown against the later model LG’s?
Great video as always. That Sony is amazing. Thanks for all your reviews. I ended up getting a CX 77” for $2750. I love my tv and the price I paid. Just can’t justify the price one would have to pay for the 83” 😳
My thoughts too. When I heard the LG G1 only hit ~800 nits w/ accurate settings compared to 1300 nits on this I was very annoyed. But if the A90J can only do 1300 nits in vivid mode, which nobody should use, then they're basically the same.
Sony has never, nor will they ever try to be the brightest tv cause they only care about directors intent and matching their consumers tv they sell to their master oled screen used to edit some films. Or as close they can get.
the a90j will still do color toning in hdr mode so what the point of the peak brightness hitting 1300 nits when in cinema mode it’s only doing 760 not the 1000 nits full time we all thought it would do so yeah correct em I missing something here ? Then the lg c1 or b1 once a in-depth review is done I believe would be the most bang for buck IMO and the G1 falls short of expectation a hard pass
I've not watched all this review but for a TV that is supposed to be premium, why did they not include X4 HDMI 2.1 ports and VRR (like the LG CX!) , what a deal breaker
Partly based on your review I just ordered a 77” LG G1 for €4300 including tax, which is about €3500 without tax, or $4200. It is replacing my 65” LG Oled. I would expect the 83” Sony model to cost about double. No matter how nice the tv is it is simply out of my price range. I am going to be very happy with my G1 in any case...
I’m a faithful Sony customer since 1984 that was my first one, 38cm. I just hope they continue to look after the dedication of customers. I currently have a 50” -XR80 and a -40”?hd . Won’t need an new Tele for sometime now.
Has anyone tried to play Blu-rays on Ps5 with this tv? Perhaps in 2023 is not the most updated but I am planning to buy it during Black Friday. Any thoughts?
Great review as always, thank you so much! However, for this price, I would have expected all 4 HDMI slots to be 120Hz and not just 2 and having to sacrifice the HDMI ARC slot as well. Disappointed with Sony not giving us what LG gives us (4 HDMI all 120hz)
My point exactly. At its price it should lack nothing. Sony went in the wrong direction. Instead of putting tech into the screen as a speaker they should have went with 4 hdmi 2.1 inputs.
Don't bother with the CX i have buyers remorse big time and I'm an LG guy. However if i could do it all over again, I would def buy the A90J instead and become a Sony guy, but that wouldn't be possible cause I'm like u, the price is way out of reach for me :(
@@noodlehockey yes C1 def but only because of A90J price. Or if they didn't yank the C9 off the market early this gen like a bunch of criminals, then it would have been C9 for much less $$$, and basically the same TV. That's why they yanked it early. I upgraded from the B8 to CX too and thought i was going to be blown away, not even close. The peak brightness is still trash overall for a TV of this price. not much of a step up in pic quality overall from B8. Many things not working from the start needing firmware and more firmware still pending....this is ridiculous since the C1 is out. only thing im dont remorse over is i'm a gamer/ps5, b8 doesn't do HDMI 2.1 and a taste of COD at 120hz is great, good to have for the future. But once again, u could have got all this w. the C9 for $700 cheaper

@@MetalsForBrunch My 10 year old top of the range plasma probably beats the shit out of this Sony. At least it does that to all 2020 OLEDs for motion reproduction, and for moving images, that's what matters.
I bought a new 43" Sony TV in 2007 and I have wanted to upgrade to a larger TV, but darn it there isn't even a pixel out on the old one. How can I justify buying a new $4,000 TV when the old one is still working perfectly? It even still looks new. And Caleb, favorite vacation spot for me is Barcelona.
Sony has released an unfinished product for the second year in a row. This is ridiculous. It prob is the best tv of 2021 but it’s lacking features that last years models were promised, and still have not received! Get it together Sony. And no I’m not an LG fan boy. I own a A9g and A9f. We as the consumer, should not be supporting the launch of items that are incomplete. I’m not sure why this keeps getting overlooked, or why Sony gets a pass on this.
I have the next Gen of this T.V. Mine is a 75 inch and it cost me only 1800 plus delivery. As for a sound bar, mine didn't come with one, but in everything else, it's cool. The sound quality is great with no distortion. As for the 4k picture. WOW! I have never seen anything like it! The color and clarity is sensational. One thing I like about this T.V. is that I can hook up my computer to this T.V. From this point, I can play any game I have as well as DVD movies. Not only that, I can send my phone picture through my T.V by cromecast and watch anything on the internet. Simply put, I'm glad I bought this T.V.

If you do, my advice is to always search for a balance that works for you over the long run; not so easy that you never make any progress on your goals, not too hard that you burn out and quit. In any case, I wish you good luck.

Looking at the back of the set with all its high-tech wizardry and then seeing cheapo speaker connections... c'mon Sony.

@@Estarvia they didn't borrow anything from Panasonic, plus their audio and processing makes them even better than their panel supplier lg
With all the picture settings we got to manually fiddle around with out of the box to get started with accurate viewing experience this new marketing gimmick just seems to turn everything around, dosen't it?🤷🏻♂️
Sony blew all their competitors minds, that's what! Just took things to another level.

hi , love the vid . I was wondering what quality are the 2 first HDMI ? is it only 1080p ?

Caleb always on point 🔥🔥🔥
So the LG G1 was 830 nits cinema mode, and the A90J is 760 nits in custom mode. Am I missing something here.
Please Mode vivid Ag 90J nits?
My thoughts too. When I heard the LG G1 only hit ~800 nits w/ accurate settings compared to 1300 nits on this I was very annoyed. But if the A90J can only do 1300 nits in vivid mode, which nobody should use, then they're basically the same.
Sony has never, nor will they ever try to be the brightest tv cause they only care about directors intent and matching their consumers tv they sell to their master oled screen used to edit some films. Or as close they can get.
@@camarykaren They appear be brightness now with HDR 10 and Dolby Vision on Master Series A90J.
the a90j will still do color toning in hdr mode so what the point of the peak brightness hitting 1300 nits when in cinema mode it’s only doing 760 not the 1000 nits full time we all thought it would do so yeah correct em I missing something here ? Then the lg c1 or b1 once a in-depth review is done I believe would be the most bang for buck IMO and the G1 falls short of expectation a hard pass
Not having 4 HDMI 2.1 ports and no VRR is a deal breaker for me, especially at $4,000!
Yep, rip off
I've not watched all this review but for a TV that is supposed to be premium, why did they not include X4 HDMI 2.1 ports and VRR (like the LG CX!) , what a deal breaker
