For movies the Sony processing and cinematic presentation is top tier. I compared the LG C2 and my A80k extensively and kept coming back to the Sony. It just has better upscaling, processing and shadow detail than the LG products. Sony does give up the extremes of peak brightness but my A80K can still blow your hair back with the correct settings. Recently bought an 77” A80K from Costco and literally amazed how beautiful the image looks, especially compared to my Samsung 8K and LG Oled from 2020. The main thing I noticed about the A80K is the processing of the image , takes a little to get use to but after it’s so hard to go back to anything else. Hi, I like Sony's image processing and picture quality better than LG. Plus the sound for sure. What would you recommend between a80L, LG G2 and LG G3, given that G3 and A80L are priced same here in India at around 1800 usd while G2 is approx 500 usd cheaper compared to them
From what I understand you only got 2 hdmi inputs for 4K resolution and you need one of them for the sound bar. The other 2 are standard non 4K hdmi inputs.
Torn between a 65" X90L (Getting for $930) and a 55" A80L (Getting for ($1155). Planning to wall mount in front of the bed for the next 1.5 years. Any thoughts?
I don't understand how the A80L doesn't have a heatsink or 4 HDMI 2.1 inputs. Same for the C3 but at least it's pushing higher brightness levels. Great review, by the way!
Heat sink is only for their master series as far as I’m aware, and the HDMI’s is simply a limitation of the Mediatek chipset that I’m assuming Sony signed a long term deal with. Until that deal comes to an end and Sony invest in a better brands chip, then 2 HDMI’s is all we’ll get sadly.
@@RobsRemixes I had no idea they had a long term deal with Mediatek. It's really hurting them. The worst part is that I don't understand how a chip can run HDMI 2.1 but be limited to a single or two ports when you never use more than 1 port. Why not route all of them to 4 HDMI 2.1 ports?
@@techsamurai11 pass on that question, my technical limitations come in at understanding that it simply can’t run 4 because if it could then Sony 100% would, but understanding why the chipset isn’t capable is beyond my pay grade 😂
Get the Sony A90J! Great Master Series OLED now going for $2200 US dollars for the 65 inch. Love mine. Its definitely bright enough and the color accuracy is off the charts.
The A90J doesn't have the new XR clear image. Which means the A80L had better upscaling. It also doesnt have the new game menu.. It's the same brightness level as the A80L. Why would you get the A90J over the A80L?
The stands go outward at an angle. So basically, the distance between the stands should be the width of the TV. Am I right? Asking because I am planning to put a Sony A5000 soundbar in front of this TV.
I've seen different configurations of the stand, so I assume they're movable (also seems that way based on the spec sheet). And yes there's at least one configuration where they go outward at an angle, so a soundbar the width of the tv should be no problem

What is more important, brightness, or deep blacks ? You mostly watch in the evening, go for the Sony. You mostly watch during the day or in a well lit room, go for the Samsung.
Can you help out? I'd like to know what the clearance under the TV is because have a Sony Sound bar with the current TV that sits on a TV stand so hopefully I can use that until I get another one for this TV.
What was the purpose of the pool you submited couple of days ago? TV and buying guides were last two positions and here we go with another TV review and upcoming buying guide... Eh.
Soundbar goes into the eArcs port, PS5 goes into the other hdmi 2.1 port. The problem the reviewer was mentioning is that if you have a ps5 and a soundbar you can't easily hook up another hdmi 2.1 device unless you either how to downgrade your soundbar to optical or use the tv's built in speakers. If you get one of the newer high end soundbars though like the Sony HTA7000 it actually has a HDMI 2.1 passthrough port meaning you can plug your ps5 into the soundbar, and then plug the soundbar into the eArcs port on your TV making this problem completely irrelevant.
What are the menus like? Are they easy to navigate? Also ehat is the remote like? I watch OTA channels quite a bit. Does the remote work well for changing channels and going back to a previous channel, or is it clunky? I see remotes are becoming very minimal button wise so i don't know how user friendly it is.
Also, what is the Picture in Picture like? Does it place the pictures side by side and are the sizes adjustable, or does it place on picture inside another picture?
I would currently pay the same or even less for the LG G3 than the Sony a80l so is it better to get the LG G3 than the Sony a80L without thinking twice or not?
Hi ! The Avatar video clips have lots of small stutters during the playback? Is the stuttering common for this TV? Or, perhaps the motion setting was not turned on. I hear OLEDs have problems with this, on slow panning scenes. This "problem" is holding my decision on buying either this TV or Sony XR X90L. Thanks
The big problem with this TV as the reviewer was stating is that the eArcs port is one hdmi 2.1 port in addition to the standard hdmi 2.1 port. So if you plug the soundbar into the eArcs port and the ps5 into the standard HDMI 2.1 port there is nothing left for a 4k blu ray player. You either have to downgrade your soundbar to an optical connection and use the eArcs port for the blu-ray player, or not use a soundbar and use the tv speakers. Good news is if you get one of the newer high end soundbars though like the Sony HTA7000 it actually has a HDMI 2.1 passthrough port meaning you can plug your ps5 into the soundbar, and then plug the soundbar into the eArcs port on your TV making this problem completely irrelevant.
Which port would be the best for watching tv shows and which one to use for the ps5? As there looked to only be 1 4k port and 1 2.1 port just curious 🤔
Old comment, but in case it's still useful: it's supposed to upscale _any_ hdmi input to 4k, including the 360 (and any other 720p media). For the Wii you'd need an adapter (which usually does some of the upscaling by itself, usually up to 720p or 1080p) because almost no modern TVs support the Wii's normal output (composite). Of course, upscaling can only do so much, so don't expect miracles, but Sony is definitely the best for upscaling.

The sound works for the cable channels, but the no sounds thru streaming service (NETFLIX) thru surround sound (the sound work thru TV speakers) My receivers is a Yamaha RX-V863 from 2009.
I really like the 80L, and the discounted 80K is tempting while they last. BUT, I saw the LG G3 using MLA technology side by side. G3 is it! The G3 also has the amazing flush bracket already incorporated whereas SONY's ultra thin bracket costs USD $348! I think Sony has made a mistake by not adopting MLA panels from LG for the 95L. On top of that, the G3 is using a newer chipset as compared to SONY 80L and K.
I disagree about the A95L looking nicer - especially with respect to brightness and clarity of an OLED in a well-lit room. Stop the FOMO agrees with this conclusion as well.
@@joshuabohoslawec6877 I saw them side-by-side at Best Buy on Black Friday. The G3 is the superior picture and overall TV on pretty much every level unless you prefer the Sony OS and/or controller - especially in a room with any natural light or a lot of light, in general (like a Best Buy store). The main difference is price, of course. The 77” LG G3 is $3,499.99. The 77” Sony A80L is $2,699.99 ($800 more) based on current prices (Cyber Monday). The G3 gets the design edge as well.
I had a problem when watching movies or games, the edges of the things appeared to have a jug shine, display on the Sony PS5, and also live display on the TV, whether in dark scenes or other scenes, noting that the movie copies are 4k Blu-ray, this problem appeared in more than 20 movies in addition to other scenes in games, Note that movie scenes were tested on another TV in the Sony showroom and it turned out that the problem does not exist like the one on the TV screen that I have, does anyone have information about this problem?

The problem is probably your room. For example if you sit in the middle of a square room you hear zero bass. I've got such a room 😐. Option 1 try to move your seat closer to a wall. I can't do that as my TV would be too far away, I'd have to put the TV in the middle of the room, so no bass for me. Option 2 get Sony or Bose headhones (or what you like), best option for me they also reduces ambient noise.

Beware of the accoustic centre sync feature. There is a product wide defect on all their 2021 and 2022 models. It causes a crackle/popping from the TV speakers when paired with one of their soundbars (I have the a3000 which also has coil whine from the power source, separate issue 😑) There is no firmware fix for the popping speaker issue. Sony are aware of it too. I was in contact with a Sony for around 5 months trying to get it fixed on my Sony A90K and an engineer had to come twice to try fix it with a new motherboard, which still didn't work. I FINALLY got to return it for the A90J and that model has the same issue too. In short accoustic centre sync is broken, and it's unclear if they've fixed it for 2023. Honestly unforgivable for Sony to market a broken feature for two maybe now three years straight. Buyer beware, we deserve better build quality for our money. Couple all this with the fact that Sony still uses the same mediatek SoC in their TVs which prevents them including 4 HDMI 2.1 ports and it's hard to recommend Sony TVs at all. LG took the time to custom make their own Soc way back on the LG C9 and have been reaping the rewards ever since. HUUUUGE oversight from Sony..
This is not as big of a deal as it appears to be because less than 1% of those that buy that TV ever even use the Acoustic Center Sync function anyways. Most people will hook up a soundbar over HDMI and just be done with it that way because the speakers inside of the soundbar are always going to be far superior at producing sound anyways. You'll always get better results by allowing your soundbar to produce all your sound for you. Easy fix there.
@@artamussumatra6286please Keep it till it lasts or at least 5 years. Every year there is incremental changes like memory from 16 gb to 32 gb, little better processing, internal design may change a bit that's all. I have the A84L and it is certainly not the TV to beat. Its an A80K/A80J. The biggest issue with the is TV is it’s just so dim especially with HDR highlights. The new game menu is nothing short of lazy and pointless too. I feel mugged off by Sony regrading this model. If I could return it, I would. Honestly, if you’re considering a TV with Sony, save your money and buy last years model or eve QOLED.
Am I the only one who is still waiting for his side by side comparison of A80L vs LG C3. Bro please make a comparison video of A80l and C3, it would help us a lot. I am still confusing in between them. Please do the comparison as you promised, your videos are very easy to understand and helps us taking the decision.
Let me just tell you in my opinion. I bought the LG G3 and Sony A80L. I’ve been comparing both. (Shows, movies, sports) A80L stands out on the processor and natural color tones. Shadow detail as well. The G3 is the brightness and the blacks/dark colors look better on the G3. Personally I don’t like my screens super bright. I always have the G3 brightness less than 50. While the Sony stays at max. Which is still plenty bright in a well bright room. G3 wins against glare Sony is good against glare Can’t go wrong with either.
@faultless18 Thanks for the reply, brother. I am looking for an 83-inch only. LG G3 83inch has no MLA. So kind of thinking whether to go with 83" A80L or 77" G3.
I watched this video - then went to Sony Center - then watched this video again - almost certain that I will go with OLED. You did not talk about pixel burning - is that an issue anymore?
I’m switching from LG to Sony this year. LG quit updating my OS system so apps now have problems so had to add Roku. Time to try something else. Had a Samsung years ago total junk.
If anything’s happens please reach out to Sony! They will likely replace your tv if something is wrong. (Replaced ours despite it being out of warranty).
Picked one of these up and was immediately put off with the wavy, dented, uneven reflections. The picture looks fine, but any reflections reveal weird warps in the panel. It’s hard to describe, but it’s super annoying.
Hello there i have a really weird question though. What’s the difference between A80L and A84L ??? I’m trying to find the difference and i thinks i made mistake buying the A84L then A80L … I don’t find Dolby Vision Bright option on my A84L fck me 😢
I don't think there is a difference other than the model number. I believe the additional model exists purely to have a different price with a distributor (to have a unique model number).
I got one of these a few days ago. With normal lighting and daytime shots in HDR or Dolby vision, this TV is exceptional. Anything really dark however looks absolutely appalling and all detail and definition is completely lost. In simple terms, this TV just can't get bright enough to handle very dark scenes. It only has about 650 to 700 nits in brightness for Dolby vision. Which is fine for 80% of the time, but for the other 20% where the TV just can't handle very dark darkness it looks absolutely terrible.
I just bought a 2023 OLED SONY TV + a HT5000 soundbar, SW5 sub and RS5 rears. TV+soundbar combo for the S center function - yes its amazing but the hissing is not fixed in the 2023 lineup - COMEON SONY! soundbar just died the other day - wont turn on - it was 2 weeks old sub is not well calculated and being too light it vibrates and that makes it move - i have to put a weight on it to sit tight rears are sooooo quiet unless you mess with the settings manually but that means to bypass the autocalibration which should give more performance all in all for a 2200 Euros home cinema kit - extremely disappointed. would not recommend. oh almost forgot - soundbar would not connect to mesh wifi for some reason so bye bye apple airplay. VERY bad SONY!
I for one didn’t even consider this when looking at all the Sony models, for me it was between the rather old but still spectacular A90J and the new QD-OLED A95K, ultimately I went for the A95K.
Depends on the room. The A95K is only "better" in terms of brightness. If your putting it in a great room or living room with lots of sunlight then you need the A95K for sure. But if it's gonna be in a basement with very little lighting then the A80L is what you need. I'll be getting the A95K though for a room.

Should I buy 83“ a80l or 83“ a90j?
Was that a dolly zoom at 3:15? ❤
Is it dim?
Around 500-550 peak.
@@MirelRC what about sdr
6:22 what do you mean? So if you got a sound bar you’re limited to another port only so the 2 other fall away?
From what I understand you only got 2 hdmi inputs for 4K resolution and you need one of them for the sound bar.
The other 2 are standard non 4K hdmi inputs.

Torn between a 65" X90L (Getting for $930) and a 55" A80L (Getting for ($1155). Planning to wall mount in front of the bed for the next 1.5 years. Any thoughts?
I have purchased the A84LU model. Is that the same as the A80L?
That’s what i am asking I believe it’s not the same TV , we are screwed !
Its the same
I don't understand how the A80L doesn't have a heatsink or 4 HDMI 2.1 inputs. Same for the C3 but at least it's pushing higher brightness levels. Great review, by the way!
Not sure about the a80l but for the c3 I don’t think it needs it because the mla technology pushes more light/heat out the front screen.
@@truckinlow1 The C3 does not use MLA but it uses the same panel as the Sony A80L but is brighter.
Good offer.
good choice, heatsink and tv led DV, autocal white balance
The A90J doesn't have the new XR clear image. Which means the A80L had better upscaling. It also doesnt have the new game menu.. It's the same brightness level as the A80L. Why would you get the A90J over the A80L?
Heatsink alone is a good enough reason. Spending more for 2023 models is only worth it if you're going for flagship model s(A95L, G3...).
Can’t find it anywhere in Canada. It totally discontinued in this country !!!
how does this compare the the A90J?
I’m interested to know how this tv compares to the A90J, for which I’m returning due to a fault.
This TV is amazing ❤
Better picture between a90k or a80l?
Does anyone know what movie was playing @12:37??
The film playing at 12:37 is Black Adam 😊
The stands go outward at an angle. So basically, the distance between the stands should be the width of the TV. Am I right? Asking because I am planning to put a Sony A5000 soundbar in front of this TV.
I've seen different configurations of the stand, so I assume they're movable (also seems that way based on the spec sheet). And yes there's at least one configuration where they go outward at an angle, so a soundbar the width of the tv should be no problem

Sony A80l OLED 65inch or Samsung S95c QD OLED 65inch which is the best tv please tell me
What is more important, brightness, or deep blacks ?
You mostly watch in the evening, go for the Sony.
You mostly watch during the day or in a well lit room, go for the Samsung.
Can you help out? I'd like to know what the clearance under the TV is because have a Sony Sound bar with the current TV that sits on a TV stand so hopefully I can use that until I get another one for this TV.
how much inch is this one that you have

Wow Super Tv 📺. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Can we switch off the motion interpolation to reduce soap opera effect?
The 55 inch is on sale for 1398 thinking about getting it for my bedroom. What do you think? Is that price fair?
We have the same setup. Do you plug the soundbar or the ps5 into the arc? I wish Sony offered 2 arc HDMI ports
I have a 2015 4k LED Sony tv will this be a 100% upgrade to that?
Nice review keep up the good work
Thanks Marcus, Glad you enjoyed! 😀
Thanks
Dolby Vision Bright over Dark on an OLED?
In which port to connect the ps5, sound bar and 4k bluray player for best results!!!
So, does it looks less bright than a lg c1?
Which port would be the best for watching tv shows and which one to use for the ps5? As there looked to only be 1 4k port and 1 2.1 port just curious 🤔
wot the hdr peak brightness around 800??
Besides the QD-OLED models. Is the 2021 A90J still better overall than the 2022 A80K, A90K and 2023 A80L?
They'll all be very similar, imo.
What about the auto dimming problem that makes your screen much darker, especially for gaming?!
I bought this tv 77 inch model a week ago and so far no dimming on gaming. No dimming from watching sports either.
Question, does this tv upscale the image for older games? Say, the 360 or wii? Will it look like 4K?
Old comment, but in case it's still useful: it's supposed to upscale _any_ hdmi input to 4k, including the 360 (and any other 720p media). For the Wii you'd need an adapter (which usually does some of the upscaling by itself, usually up to 720p or 1080p) because almost no modern TVs support the Wii's normal output (composite). Of course, upscaling can only do so much, so don't expect miracles, but Sony is definitely the best for upscaling.
#Glossy or #SemiGloss ??

PLZ HELP im.confused between A80K ,LG C2 AND A80L..PLZ PLZ SUGGEST AS IM WORRIED OF BRIGHTNESS ISSUE ON A80K ORELSE I WANT TO GO WITH A80K.
A95L qd-oled looks nicer than the G3, same brightness, better colour
And the A95L is way more expensive than the G3 lol
I disagree about the A95L looking nicer - especially with respect to brightness and clarity of an OLED in a well-lit room. Stop the FOMO agrees with this conclusion as well.
Would you pick G3 or A80L, I can't find any stores that have both on display so hard for me to tell which I prefer. Please help!

I bought A80L recently and struggling to have right sound settings with Sony HT-G700 sound bar & subwoofer. I feel BASE is low although I set HDMI3 format to enhanced. I have Apple TV 4k streaming device as well. Please help me to configure right sound settings. Appreciate your help.
Why in the world don't ANY of these T.Vs do live sports and live T.V reviews? Futbol, football , basketball, baseball and any other sports is an everyday thing for most people!!!!?
Ok i just received my OLED tv 65 inch ,A80L unfortunately it had 2 vertical lines red and blue, now i gotta return it 😢

A95K no brainer.. go for it.

Gaming review without mention of input lag ???
I have it paired with a Samsung Sound Bar (A80L) and don’t have these problems, but as stated above just use the sound bar without the tv.
Does this work well as a “dumb” TV if you have, say, a 4K Apple TV, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, all sent through a Yamaha receiver?
That’s how I use my A80J, so unless they’ve changed things drastically, it should do fine.
@@artamussumatra6286please Keep it till it lasts or at least 5 years. Every year there is incremental changes like memory from 16 gb to 32 gb, little better processing, internal design may change a bit that's all. So unless upgrading after 5 years or OLED to QLED of bigger size no necessity to change IMHO
Yea they really screwed us this year. My A8h is brighter, and the c3 is way brighter. Even more than the a90j without a heat sink at that
I own the A80K and it’s extremely bright, you can literally make it almost blinding when watching in a light controlled room
I’m waiting on it too…lagging
Let me just tell you in my opinion. I bought the LG G3 and Sony A80L. I’ve been comparing both. (Shows, movies, sports) A80L stands out on the processor and natural color tones. Shadow detail as well.
The G3 is the brightness and the blacks/dark colors look better on the G3. Personally I don’t like my screens super bright. I always have the G3 brightness less than 50. While the Sony stays at max. Which is still plenty bright in a well bright room.
G3 wins against glare
Sony is good against glare
Can’t go wrong with either.
@faultless18 Thanks for the reply, brother. I am looking for an 83-inch only. LG G3 83inch has no MLA. So kind of thinking whether to go with 83" A80L or 77" G3.
@@yeshu927 G3 comes with 5 year panel warranty from LG. Any size.

We are looking forward to making this Vs as spec doesn't always win.
I would go for Philips OLED if you look at what is going? You can get a better tv than the A80L
How would you compare the picture quality of the X90L vs the X93L?
I watched this video - then went to Sony Center - then watched this video again - almost certain that I will go with OLED.
You did not talk about pixel burning - is that an issue anymore?
I’m switching from LG to Sony this year. LG quit updating my OS system so apps now have problems so had to add Roku. Time to try something else. Had a Samsung years ago total junk.
How's your exprience?
If anything’s happens please reach out to Sony! They will likely replace your tv if something is wrong. (Replaced ours despite it being out of warranty).
Picked one of these up and was immediately put off with the wavy, dented, uneven reflections. The picture looks fine, but any reflections reveal weird warps in the panel. It’s hard to describe, but it’s super annoying.
What did you do?
Hello there i have a really weird question though.
What’s the difference between A80L and A84L ???
I’m trying to find the difference and i thinks i made mistake buying the A84L then A80L …
I don’t find Dolby Vision Bright option on my A84L fck me 😢
I don't think there is a difference other than the model number. I believe the additional model exists purely to have a different price with a distributor (to have a unique model number).
Worth it over a cheaper 65 inch a80k?
It's hard to believe but as I understand it the A80L does not even use the EVO panel.
Hi, do you think the integrated audio of this Sony a83l or two Apple HomePods of 2 generation is better? Thank you so much in advance for your advice!
I just bought a 2023 OLED SONY TV + a HT5000 soundbar, SW5 sub and RS5 rears.
TV+soundbar combo for the S center function - yes its amazing but the hissing is not fixed in the 2023 lineup - COMEON SONY!
soundbar just died the other day - wont turn on - it was 2 weeks old
sub is not well calculated and being too light it vibrates and that makes it move - i have to put a weight on it to sit tight
rears are sooooo quiet unless you mess with the settings manually but that means to bypass the autocalibration which should give more performance
all in all for a 2200 Euros home cinema kit - extremely disappointed. would not recommend. oh almost forgot - soundbar would not connect to mesh wifi for some reason so bye bye apple airplay.
VERY bad SONY!
Everyone loves the Sony product, but not the price. In india taxes are very high for foreign products.
Does it come with the ultimate all-around burn in?😂
Can’t see anybody getting this tv with the QD-Oleds being out and the C3 being as good if not better for less money.
I for one didn’t even consider this when looking at all the Sony models, for me it was between the rather old but still spectacular A90J and the new QD-OLED A95K, ultimately I went for the A95K.
Exactly!
Depends on the room. The A95K is only "better" in terms of brightness. If your putting it in a great room or living room with lots of sunlight then you need the A95K for sure. But if it's gonna be in a basement with very little lighting then the A80L is what you need. I'll be getting the A95K though for a room.
@@TechGuyChris this is just incorrect, the a95k has the qd-pled panel which is MILES better than a w-oled panel, the a95k is the better tv in all aspects there’s just no debate there
That, I think is the key question: how does this TV compare to the QD-OLEDS and the LG C3, and how do the prices compare?
