Hats off to you with the mobile auto repair. I did it for only a year. One year because it blasted my body to where I couldn't not be sore, and then got enough saved to rent an old gas station for my business. That was 24 years ago. Anywho, I see this happen all the time and I'm sure you have too. If you would have disconnected the compressor sensor the harness is completely out of the way. I make it a practice and have my two techs taught to evaluate your task and/or setting and then pull away and disconnect anything that will get in the way. Within reason, of course.
@@genemaverick5705he said it just gives you more room bro ❤️ and is easier if you have a weirder set of tools. Some people have Frankenstein boxes of half sets 🤣
use long wrench 17 mm for easy to remove the belt , disconnect the compressor wire to prevent it could be broken when you trying remove the alternator out young man😃
great video, love the detail in what you did, it woulda have been nice to see you actually do it as you described it. when u explain taking the belt off the alternator and releasing the tension of the band, seeing that done would be or would have been a lot more of an aid than the audible explanation on its own. 💙
I can understand not being able to without something to hold the camera for you while you do so. therefore great video ith working with what you have. Even without the visual aid the explanation was thorough enough to understand (Y)
Changed mine 42 minutes that’s out with the old one in with the new bottom 12 mm bolt on the for the pully I used a 1/4 ratchet with a 3/8 adapter with a short 12mm socket when I get that bolt tightened I switched out the short socket for a 12 mm deep socket still using the 3/8 adapter then finished it off it saves so much time. Just a tip. I heard many people having problems with that lower pully bolt.
You can pull the bottom alternator bolt without removing the tensioner just hold it like you are taking the belt of and it will expose the bottom bolt for removal.
No you can’t ,, you have to take off the tensioner to get bottom alternator bolt out , i know I just did this on my daughters car , I didn’t need any of these videos to do it .
2 questions, 1. I looked up the alternator and some say it doesn’t have charge, was that purchased by the person whose car you were fixing or by you ? 2. I have 2016 Honda accord sport, manual transmission, it says it’s compatible but it’s for automatic transmission, will it still work? Thank you
You prob figured it out by now, but: - 14 mm socket and wrench - 12 mm socket and wrench - 10 mm socket and wrench - 8 mm socket and wrench - 8 mm Allen head socket - Phillips head screwdriver - Prybar/crowbar - Needle nose pliers - 3/8 or 1/2 breaker bar - 3/8 or 1/2” socket extension Let me know if I forgot anything…..
What symptom was the owner of that car having when the alternator got replaced? I have gone through three batteries in five years in my 2017 Honda Accord. I’m starting to wonder if the alternator is just not charging the battery sufficiently
@cm1133 Same situation as you with new batteries going dead. Check the alternator voltage using a multimeter. Set it to the 15V DC setting and check it off the terminals while running. It should read somewhere around 14V-14.5V. If much less than that, then the alternator isn't able to recharge the battery well while running. Eventually the battery will die. Mine is putting out only 12.5V so alternator is bad.
As far as I’m concerned, the one main only real difference in manufacturing differences, is between the CVT and the 6MT model. I have the 6-speed manual model, so it’s a bit harder to find the right kind of alternator. It’s shaped a bit different and whatnot.
DAMN i got a refurbished one for 170 canadian, 150 after i return the core. this wasnt the cheapest option for me either. I did see ones up from 4 to 6 hundread though, fuckin nutz.
If you have $500-600+ to spend on labor and OEM parts, it could even be ~$800 for the job at a Honda dealership. If you can DIY the job from home, save yourself $300-400+ by buying a generic alternator, and getting the right tools to DIY the job all by yourself!! My job is gonna cost me about $75 all by myself from home!!!!! You definitely can’t beat that!!
Perfect video. Clear and descriptive without all the long-winded yapping everyone else does!

I don’t know what this top comment is talking about. This is what we come to RUclips for: short sweet and to the point. No bsing. Great vid
Thanks for showing us amateurs how it's done, you make this job look super easy I appreciate your help.

Great walk-through, thanks man! I'm about to do this job later today.
Perfect walkthrough my guy the tensioner had me stumped and you showed the best way thank you
im on my lunch break gonna do this when i get back, thanks for the short vid
Great video!!! Just watched another guy who forgot to mention the bolt at the bottom. Thanks 😊 super helpful
Good vid and explanation. Really like that you gave the size/type of each bolt you removed 👍🏽
Also pulling the fan gives you more hand room and only takes 2 10mil bolts and an electrical plug removal. Great video helped out for sure . Thank you
You don’t need to pull the fan off to change the alternator.

Love how u go in to detail
Thanks I needed that. You were a big help
Thx so much for this very useful video i did replace my alternator I have never done this before 🙌🏾
I just did this on my daughters Honda , pain in the ass but I got it done , an alternator shouldn’t be that hard to change , foreign car for ya .
How do u get that 12mm bolt at the bottom 😩😩
Good video for people to learn from dude
Bro that bottom 12mm screw is very hard to get too got everything else off though
How hard
I got stuck here. Fml
It’s not hard after, your fingers can remove it after.
I got it from bottom.
Do we need to worry about replacing the serpentine belt or how tight it goes on?

Awesome explanation. Perfect & thorough
I’m guessing the tensioner mount doesn’t have to removed because of that last 14mm bolt was attached to motor?
Might as well unplug that last one below the alternator if you unplugged everything else. That way the whole wiring harness is out of your way
Did this twice and gotta do it again, i hate this car honestly wish i would have got something else

Do you need to loosen the tensioner bolt to take the off the alternator
I don't think so. I think he missed that bottom alternator bolt, and since he already did the tensioner, he just set it aside.
You have to take the tensioner off to get bottom bolt of alternator off , real pain in the ass , lol
Idiot didn’t even show taking the tensioner off. Thank you for messin me up.
Thanks
Thank you Great
It would be nice to tell everyone which bolts need to be taking out first instead of going fucking crazy
Doing this as we speak!, thank you for posting!!!!!! 🦾🦾🦾🦾
How much will I be charge for putting one

Have you tested your alternator at autozone?
@@elbambinomaloso189 I got a new battery. I’ve had zero problems so far since getting my 4 battery in 5.5 years.

Check if your car has had the recall fix done yet. There was an electrical regulation issue for a few year models.
@@PotatotheTroll thanks. I’ll check with my local dealer.

17 mm not 14 to remove the belt 😅
How many miles did that car have ? I have a 2017 with just touched 80k and i have to change the alternator already wtf !

Great info bro, but next vids. Film with two hands bro. One handed camera work stinks

More like how to take off an alternator
Too much skipping & “then”

Is that a good alternator everyone is asking for $600 for one
I found a brand new alternator from auto zone for $368 but with the core charge it’s $443 but that’s a pretty good price for a new unmanufactured one
i bought one at lkq from an accord with 45k miles for $130
