New sub here. We bought our van with air suspension which made a big difference to our availablle weight (still scaled it off though to make sure we were legal). I've seen loads of motorhomes which are clearly overweight, but they don't realise that apart from the safety aspect... they would not have insurance cover in the event of an accident. Safe travels, Mick and Cath.
Hi Mick and Cath 👋🏻 Thank you so much for subscribing we really appreciate that 😊 It was quite a revelation and we did take quite a few things out before we set off on our Northern Europe trip and will have to have a swap around of stuff when we head away on our long trip as it is something we were quite worried about when we were packing up 😬 Thanks for watching - happy travels - Amanda & Mark 😍
Impressive content, Adventures with Amanda and Mark. Looking forward to your next upload. I smashed that thumbs up icon on your video. Keep up the fantastic work! It’s great to see how you’re preparing for your trip; have you considered any specific routes or stops along the way to ensure a smooth journey with Millie?
@@KeyserTheRedBeard Hi, thank you for your comment and for the thumbs up 😊 We are are making our way to Dover now to catch the ferry to France and will then make our way through Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and possibly Luxembourg on this trip and then we have an ever bigger trip next year. We will be friends who have done a similar route before so we will be looking to them to help us with the journey. Have you been to Europe on a roadtrip? Thanks for watching.- Amanda & Mark 😍
Nice to see someone raising the weight issue. As others have said, it can invalidate your insurance. Changed last year to a 690g ourselves on a 3800kg plate and even specified no drop down bed to save 50kg in available payload. Have a great time and enjoy it all
@@joolsdeb6256 Hi, thank you for watching and for your comment. We are looking to go up to 3850 kg but wanted to get this done before we go away in March but don’t think that is going to happen as the Up-plating company is taking its time! Hopefully we will be ok for our BIG TRIP in March - we did take a few things out that we didn’t need for the winter trip so felt a bit better. Enjoy your travels - Amanda & Mark 😍
@AdventureswithAmandaandMark as long as you have plenty of rum and a credit card you'll be fine ☺️ We struggled to find the right bottle in amboise but water was everywhere. Take care and enjoy. X
Hi both, we had our MH weighed, we was just under limit, but like you I hadn't put my clothes in. I was concerned as I know how heavy suit cases are on a 2 week hol🤔. Nice to see you pop up on my phone, happy travels, look forward to seeing your vlogs, sending you best Christmas wishes from Derbyshire 😍
@@christineomara4787 Hi Christine, thank you for your comment. We were really quite surprised but realised afterwards its a lot to do with all the upgrades we have made to Millie 🚐 We took a few things out that we knew we wouldn’t need for this winter trip - clothes line, wind break etc and hopefully we are ok but it was quite worrying and a bit stressful. Any thank you so much for watching and Merry Christmas to you - we are currently in Canterbury ready for the ferry tomorrow morning - Amanda & Mark 😍
Don't worry..you rarely have a full tank of fuel..keep it around half and thats 45kg saved, plus ditch some fresh water and you will be fine. Millie is longer than previous van so less payload. Well done for highlighting the importance of "weight awareness" - so many people drive around oblivious 😞🙈
Hi Leanne, yeah Mark said we had used about 25 litres (21 kg) by the time we got to our first stop last night. We realised a lot of it was to do with all the upgrades we had made! We have taken out the washing line and windbreak as won’t need them on this trip and we did get rid of lots of water but it was a bit stressy getting packed!! We don’t want to get stopped and get fined and equally don’t want to cause any accidents being overweight - it’s not worth it is it!! Thanks for watching - Amanda & Mark 😍
Good.luck to you both and enjoy !, can't help wondering if you had gone lithium rather than 2 gel batteries you may have saved 10kilos odd ?. Anyway all doable - happy travels!
Hi Jon, thanks for watching and you may be right as it would have been one battery instead of the two but it would have cost a lot more because of the additional set up. We're on our travels in Northern Europe now a s its going well 👍🏻 Thanks for watching and for commenting - Amanda & Mark 😍

I'm with your Mark ... the Rum stays. Australia was built on Rum.
😂 He does love his rum!!!
