Adventures with Amanda and Mark
Великобритания
Добавлен 1 мар 2022
Hi we’re Mark and Amanda.
Our channel was previously known as Adventures with Indie after our Motorhome that we'd had from March 2021 to July 2023. We now have Millie the Burstner Motorhome and love going on adventures in Cornwall where we live but also exploring further away in the UK and Europe.
We headed off to the Pyrenees in June 2022 and the Picos de Europe in 2023 both with Indie and they were amazing 🤩
We’re looking forward to bringing you along on our adventures whether it’s out on bikes hitting the roads or trails, walking or running coastlines and moors or exploring historic buildings near and far away especially stately homes and churches/cathedrals.
We also have a passion for cruising and have started making films of these adventures to share with you as well 🚢
Thanks for watching, be lovely if you’d subscribe and let us know what you think 😊

A Mark Midweek Special - Sanctuary Wood Museum on Hill 62 near Ypres Belgium.
This is my Vlog regarding our visit to the Sanctuary Wood Museum on Hill 62 near Ypres. The address is Canadalaan 26 8902 Leper Zillebeke, Belgium.
The Museum shows the history of Hill 62. The British named it Sanctuary hill in Nov 1914 when they brought their injured soldiers there to recover and be treated for their injuries. Fighting took place here during World War 1 from Sept 1915 and it was fought over by the Canadian and German soldiers in 1916 becoming some of the front line trenches during the Battle of Mount Sorrel.

Why don't these guys tell the cost of the ferry and Sundries?
Hi think we gave the cost of the ferry crossings at the end of this particular series of videos but it was about £850 return - our return crossing was Roscoff to Plymouth but it's coming up to nearly two years ago so not sure price is relevant now 😊 Thanks for watching 👀
Like your final edit Mark. A very moving day, walking around the museum then outside and along those trenches and I will never forget the tunnel.
Thank you Dave, yes was an experience. Catch up soon.
Good video, you're referring to 'Beneath Hill 60' which is the film dedicated to the 1st Australian Tunneling Company. This is an interesting read about where you were: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Mont_Sorrel
Thank you for watching Jack. I will make sure i watch that movie as tunnelling must have been a very hazardous occupation
Ypres is pronounced "eeper" as in take the "d" out of deeper.
Hi think you told us that before but thanks for letting us know again 😊
good effort Mark
Thanks for the support - I was quite pleased with my first attempt
Great video, I have been there many times but never walked through the tunnel, very impressed 👍
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for the support. I really enjoyed the museum, but it was very moving to see the sheer horror of the Great War in the many photo’s there. Take care
I'm with your Mark ... the Rum stays. Australia was built on Rum.
😂 He does love his rum!!!
Fantastic video guys. 😊
Thank you so much ☺️ and thanks for watching 👀
Hi guys hope you are well, could you tell me the name of the audio you used to use on the intro to your Vlogs, I have gone back to your old Vlogs when you had Indy, you have linked some audio in your descriptions for music from Uppbeat but I cant find this Audio, can you help........Please
Hiya, we're still using Uppbeat but when they dropped from 10 free downloads a month to 3 we decided to pay for premium and we could then add our channel to our account so now we don't have to list each track in the description in order to meet their copyright criteria 😊
Yes I am considering doing that as well, what was the name of the track you used?
@ Ah ok, um was it the first piece of music on the last video or when we first started? We used iMovies music for a while too and think it was just the ‘Travel” one. If its the one from the latest video I’ll have to go through the ones I have downloaded recently to see if I can work it out
I love watching your adventures.
Thank you so much, we really appreciate that 😊
Hi Mark & Amanda. I know you don't have a dog, but can you tell me if you think it would be easy enough to install a child/pet gate near the door? My little Bichon would charge through the fly screen and damage it. Would a diesel heater be worth installing for cold weather? Compressor fridge, Sirocco 12v fans? I'm looking to buy a Burstner Lyseo Harmony Line 684G in 2026 when I move from Australia. Stuart
Hi Stuart. So, we are sure that you can get a proper pet gate to go in the door way but also think a kids one would as our door is quite wide. With regard to the diesel heater - if you buy a van that has a winterised pack then you'll be more than insulated and protected from the winter especially if it has a Thuma 6 boiler. Mark thinks a compressor fridge is better and more economical as our fridge uses a lot of gas. We don't have air con but thinking about it as if you're heading to places like southern Spain in the summer you'll definitely need it! Are you buying new or secondhand? Thanks for watching - Amanda & Mark 😍
@@AdventureswithAmandaandMark - I would like to buy brand new, but am open to a slightly pre-used (1-2 years) if need be. The purchase depends on whether buying new is a problem as I will be in the process of getting Long Stay Residency, and sometimes the dealers find the paperwork of an initial registration to a foreigner difficult. I plan to spend a lot of time off grid (maybe only 2 nights a week on electric hook-up), so a compressor fridge, lithium and more solar are top priorities for me. Kind regards, Stu
Hi guys - we found you on RUclips last week and LOVING your content. We only live in Liskeard and love all your ventures local and further afield!! May be asking you for advice on some European motorhome travels in the future!Xxx
Hi Helen, thank you so much ☺️ You're not too far from us at all then! We are more than happy to help with any advice - if you're thinking of heading to France and Spain though we can't recommend the Pyrenees and the Picos de Europa enough!! We're heading off on a BIG TRIP soon as well, heading to loads of countries we've never been to before!! What sort of Motorhome do you have? Have you been to Europe before? Thanks for watching - Amanda & Mark 😍
@ oh wow thank you that’s amazing! We have an Autotrail Frontier Scout - only got her a few months ago and loving her! We having ventured further than Worcestershire yet lol!!!!
Will have to take a look at that one and hopefully when the weather improves you'll be able to get out and about more locally 😊
Hi just found you guys today. Watched your video it was a pleasure to watch absolutely loved it. We are looking to do a similar route you guys done in the spring and looking forward to seeing your next one. Our first stopover sorted. Thanks guys x
Hi guys, thank you so much ☺️ We definitely had a lovely stay in Ypres and it's not that long a drive from Calais so does make a great first stop! We're working on the next one to come out soon 🤞🏻 How far are you planning to travel north and for how long? Thanks for watching - Amanda & Mark 😍
@ Hi. We are looking to do the big cities in Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, pop over to Austria. Switzerland and then back in France
@@DaveandBonitasVanlife sounds fab! We did Netherlands and Germany and on our next trip a lot more!
Looking forward to watching the videos

Hi where did you get your spare wheel mate
Hi Richard, we bought the wheel on EBay having had a discussion with the seller about the specification - it's a cheap steel "emergency" wheel and we put an old tyre on it! Thanks for asking 😍
Cheers
Hi there I’ve stumbled across your channel whilst on RUclips, watched a few videos enjoyed what I watched and subscribed, enjoy your travels. Cheers Sean
Hi Sean, that you so much for the sub, we really appreciate that and we’re glad you have liked our videos. Are you a motorhome owner yourself? We are just back from a month away in Northern Europe and in March will be heading off on a really Big Trip for us. Thanks for watching and commenting - Amanda & Mark 😍
@AdventureswithAmandaandMark Thanks for the reply, yes we are motorhomes for 8 years now, 1 PVC, 1 rapido coach built fixed bed, now 1 auto Sleeper Nuevo make up bed, not impressed with making the bed, next one something like yours.
Yeah we didn't want to keep making up the bed either! We're nearly at 4 years of motorhoming and our first one, Indie, we loved but we need more storage and security for the bikes. Millie the Burstner is great for all of that but the kitchen does wind me up a bit 😂
Nice to see someone raising the weight issue. As others have said, it can invalidate your insurance. Changed last year to a 690g ourselves on a 3800kg plate and even specified no drop down bed to save 50kg in available payload. Have a great time and enjoy it all
@@joolsdeb6256 Hi, thank you for watching and for your comment. We are looking to go up to 3850 kg but wanted to get this done before we go away in March but don’t think that is going to happen as the Up-plating company is taking its time! Hopefully we will be ok for our BIG TRIP in March - we did take a few things out that we didn’t need for the winter trip so felt a bit better. Enjoy your travels - Amanda & Mark 😍
@AdventureswithAmandaandMark as long as you have plenty of rum and a credit card you'll be fine ☺️ We struggled to find the right bottle in amboise but water was everywhere. Take care and enjoy. X
Loved it. Got a bit teary thinking about the graves etc but will go myself one day soon. cheers for that
@@clegsta42 Hi, it’s a very moving region of Belgium isn’t it - more than we expected really. The last post call at the Menin Gate is definitely a must. Sorry to make you teary though but thanks for watching - Amanda & Mark 😊
TFS - we are going to stay at Urban Gardens & are laying a wreath at the Menin Gate in April! Lovely to see such a recent one. New to your channel, luv your nice natural vlog. 😊
Hi Hermione, thank you so much for your lovely comment, we really appreciate that and thanks for the sub. Laying a wreath there will be very emotional for you and must mean a great deal to you and your family, safe travels - Amanda & Mark ☺️
Hi both, been looking forward to the first vlog of this tour, we really enjoyed it, we went to Ypres a few years ago, it's so moving and sad, what a shame the Menin Gate was mostly covered up as it is an amazing monument when you can see it uncovered. We also went to Tyne Cot and Vimy Ridge the Canadian memorial, about 45 miles from where you were. . cant wait to see the next vlog. Looks like your having great time and enjoying Milly the Burstner😊, we call ours Burstner Bertie. I can see someone likes Haribo's😂😘xx
Hi Christine, that would be Mark with the Haribo 🤣 We were pleasantly surprised Ypres as had no idea how close it was (well from Calais that is, not Cornwall!) and how much history there was. Yes we thought the same about the Menin Gate and the scaffolding but that seems to the story of our lives every time we go away somewhere! Burstner Bertie is a fab name!! Thank you so much for watching and commenting, we really appreciate that - Amanda & Mark 😍
Sorry couldn’t quite understand. What’s the app for the Old Gate Inn discount ?
Hi Michael. The pub has a loyalty app which you can sign up to and after 24 hours you can get £10 off a £40 spend plus other offers I believe - www.vintageinn.co.uk/restaurants/south-east/theoldgateinnbridgecanterbury?#/ Thanks for watching - Amanda & Mark 😍
Thank you so much ! Lovely videos by the way, just a perfect lovely happy feel to them ! 😊
You’re very welcome and thanks so much, that’s very kind of you to say so 😊
Show us your bikes in the garage. I would like to see how much room is left in there.
We will have to remember to do that on our next trip but there is still a lot of room in there for everything else we carry - windbreak, outdoor table and chairs, washing line etc etc
I am sure Ypres is pronounced "Eepa"?
You are probably right! We did ask the receptionist at the campsite and she made it sound like there was more of an ish on the end 🤔 Thanks for watching 👀
@@AdventureswithAmandaandMark - Hey, I just watched a video from Dusseldorf Caravan Salon. The Burstner lady was showing your MH. Does your drop-down bed have an extension slide-out drawer on the cab end? Google translate said something about a bed extension to sleep lengthways. I've not seen this in any other van tour of your model. ruclips.net/video/ObXgfIK-ObE/видео.html. at 5:52 mins into video.
Hi, we don’t have a drop down bed in our motorhome but our dining seat/table turns into a small double if we want it to. Our daughter slept on it when we spent a week in Scotland. We have two singles at the back.
Great trip so far, looking forward to following this one. Already great idea for the park and ride. All the best Bryan and Dawn Mr&Mrs_H_on_tour
Hi guys, thank you so much really appreciate that 😊 That's was a great park up at Canterbury - we'd definitely stay there again. Hope you're both well and thanks for watching - Amanda & Mark 😍
Loving the hat Mark, 'well done Brewdog'
Thanks for watching guys, really appreciate that 😍
Great video. The British soldiers would have been on a battlefield tour as part of their basic training. I used to be a platoon Sargent at Pirbright. We used to take the young recruits to Ypes . Your video has brought back some good memories, thank you.
Hi Steven, thanks for the feedback on the video and good to know that people enjoy watching them. Thanks for filling us in on the recruits and why they were there. Thanks for watching Sarg from L/Cpl Dymond
Hi Both, I have been waiting for this. I hope you had a great trip, it was lovely to bump into you all in the chocolate shop in Ypres, was hoping to see our van on the camp site but think you did the vlog the day before we arrived (me and the son). Anyway, lovely people all 4 of you and thanks for the sticker :)
Hi David, we had a fab trip thank you and it was lovely to bump into you too - made us feel like celebrities 🤣 Don’t know if you picked up on it but Mark did a shout out to you in his Brewdog Advent calendar that night but he couldn’t remember if your name was Mike or Dave! Sorry your motorhome didn’t get into the footage but yes I did most of the filming the day we arrived, whilst it was dry. Thank you for watching and your kind words, that means a lot. Safe travels - Amanda & Mark 😍
Brilliant video guys. It feels like ages ago, we were in Ypres.
Awhh we’re just sat here watching it too and Mark said do Deb and Dave know its out 🤣 I know so its so lovely to look back and what we did ☺️ Hope you’re both ok xx
Great vlog guys, We've done Ypres a few times and the musuems you visited lots of memories made, and your right it does make you feel sad when you realise what they did for us, look forward to the next one 😊😊 xx
Hi both, thank you so much ☺️ We had a lovely visit to Ypres and has no idea it was so easy to get too and had so much history! We're glad we bought back some memories for you and thank you for watching, we really appreciate your support - Amanda & Mark 😍
We have the same model motorhome and my wife and I use a double quilt each
Hi Jonathan, we didn’t think of that! When it’s been really cold here in the UK, I’ve taken our King duvet from home and slept with it folded over but actually a double might work - thank you! And thanks for watching, take care - Amanda & Mark 😍
Hi both nice to see you back on your travels look forward to the next one, just a note, your Crit'Air will last the life of your vehicle and is only required in certain areas of France, happy travels 👍
Hi guys, thank you so much, it’s nice to be back on them and we have lots planned for this year!! Thanks for letting us know, think I might have put Mark on the spot when I asked him what the Crit Air was for 😂 Thanks for watching, and for commenting, take care - Amanda & Mark 😍
Thanks for the video. Do you need a booking reference when you check in or was it just your passports ?
Hi Graham, we can't remember what we did then, possibly showed a booking ref but we have just been on Irish Ferries and P&O Ferries and just had to show our passports so this could be the same for Brittany Ferries now. Thanks for watching - Amanda & Mark 😍
Thank you for the tour. I'm in Australia, so I haven't been able to see MH's like this as thoroughly as you have demonstrated. Burstner is a brand high on my list. I move to Europe next year.
Hi, you’re very welcome ☺️ We are very pleased with her and have just spent a month travelling in Northern Europe in her and will be heading off for a longer tour in March. Burstner are a good brand and the building quality is exceptional. Are you moving to the UK or somewhere else in Europe and will you be doing lots of travelling? Thanks for watching - Amanda & Mark 😍
@@AdventureswithAmandaandMark - Hi Amanda & Mark. I will be moving to France as I will apply for a Long Stay Visa (retired in 2026). I will be able to travel full-time in my motorhome all over Europe without having to worry about Schengen. I have friends who live in Somerset, so I will also visit many parts of the UK. I am so happy you mention exceptional build quality. It is so hard to guess those aspects from watching videos. Motorhomes in Australia are quite different. Australia is all about caravans. Motorhomes are few and far between. Kind regards, Stuart
@ Sounds like a great adventure Stuart!! You’ll have to head down to Cornwall, our part of the world, as well as there are some beautiful places to visit 😍
@@AdventureswithAmandaandMark - Will do. I have good friends I met in China who live in Chard, Somerset. I've been to visit them in 2019, and will again later next year.
Hello Amanda and Mark. It was good to meet you today. Good luck with your travels and thanks Amanda for showing me how to make a comment. Tina and Graham
Hi both, lovely to meet you too and you're more than welcome 🤗 Don't drink all that beer at once and enjoy your travels around Spain 🇪🇸
Hiya how much did the ferry cost. Great video
@@ShaneP32960 Hi Shane, the return trip cost us £811 but we went back via Roscoff to Plymouth and had changed our outward crossing from Portsmouth to Caen to this route so I am not sure what the one way crossing would have been. Thanks for watching - Amanda & Mark 😍
Quick question. On Santoña next week. Same cabin as you reviewed. I don't see a kettle. Can you confirm if it had a kettle in the room or not please?
Hi Andrew, no we don't remember seeing a kettle and we're sure if there was one we would have used it - we have read about people taking travel kettles onboard with them if that helps. Thanks for watching and safe travels - Amanda & Mark 😍
your vlogs are great im doing Iona in the fjords again in september with my other half , cant wait...how long was the walk to the horses (rising tide) please , it looks awesome . im disabled and cant walk too much in 1 go have to stop often .
Hi thank you so much, we appreciate that. If we remember rightly it was about 3-4 miles there and then you have to come back. We're sure there are excursions or hop on hop off buses that can get you there as well or maybe part of the way so you could walk some of it. Thanks for watching and we hope you have a fabulous time - Amanda & Mark 😍
Fair play to you Mark. That’s commitment. 😂
Was a brutal challenge but with friends supporting me I got through it. Thanks mate
I still say that fruit does not belong in beer 😂 next year I think Mark should review a "beauty" advent calendar...all those wonderful products to try ❤😂👍..you could hold a poll on which shade of lippy we think suited you best 😂. Happy new year to you both. Looking forward to following your travels this year 👌
Great idea!! but I can’t pucker up well. Amanda can do it xx
Brilliant Mark. Enjoyed this series, whilst opening the Brewdog calendar myself.
cheers Dave I was exhausted after this series took a lot out of me,
How rough was the crossing i know it can be very rough Bay of Biscay.
@@briangilbert6241 Hi, this crossing was quite rough but they’re not always like that - we met people who sailed onboard a few days before who said it was like a duck pond! Thanks for watching - Amanda & Mark 😍
Just catching up on these whilst taking the tree down before we travel tomorrow. Loving these. Hopefully see you soon. Thank you.
@@cruisingthroughourlives Thanks for watching - Mark really appreciates it 😍 Not sure he’ll do it again next year though 🤣 He keeps going to do a review so we need to get on and film that one!!
Thanks for the video, good to see the area on screen. Just on your comment on Playa Mazarron in Bolnuevo. We have been going there for the past few years and find it excellent tbh. Right on the beach and can be busy but it’s generally a quiet site in terms of noise. Interested to know why you didn’t fancy it ?
Hi Michael, thank you. I think it’s a personal preference and I may have looked at in on some apps as wasn’t taken by it plus the Aire was cheaper and nearer to our friends. I’m glad you like it though and you never know we may go there one day and be pleasantly surprised 😍 Thanks for watching - Amanda & Mark 😍
New sub here. We bought our van with air suspension which made a big difference to our availablle weight (still scaled it off though to make sure we were legal). I've seen loads of motorhomes which are clearly overweight, but they don't realise that apart from the safety aspect... they would not have insurance cover in the event of an accident. Safe travels, Mick and Cath.
Hi Mick and Cath 👋🏻 Thank you so much for subscribing we really appreciate that 😊 It was quite a revelation and we did take quite a few things out before we set off on our Northern Europe trip and will have to have a swap around of stuff when we head away on our long trip as it is something we were quite worried about when we were packing up 😬 Thanks for watching - happy travels - Amanda & Mark 😍
Really enjoyed your video of pentewan sands campsite and I’ve just got to get there !!!
Hi Richard 👋🏻 Thank you very much 😊 Pentewan is a great site down here in Cornwall especially out of peak season and Hubbox is great for food too!! Have a good time if you go and thanks for watching - Amanda & Mark 😍
Good.luck to you both and enjoy !, can't help wondering if you had gone lithium rather than 2 gel batteries you may have saved 10kilos odd ?. Anyway all doable - happy travels!
Hi Jon, thanks for watching and you may be right as it would have been one battery instead of the two but it would have cost a lot more because of the additional set up. We're on our travels in Northern Europe now a s its going well 👍🏻 Thanks for watching and for commenting - Amanda & Mark 😍
Don’t really shop in Aldi, but I’d try that! 🍻 cheers.
Mark doesn't buy it as it's more expensive than some of their other beers 😅
