  • In this video I explain 5 principles. Let’s analyze an ankle lock (Achilles). Watch carefully who applies these principles while teaching. If that’s people don’t apply these principles it’s not a quality instruction and probability of a move is low.

Sambo is a versatile sport because it has large amount of techniques in standing position as well as on the ground. Why can't you throw an opponent who's equal or stronger opponent? There are two main reasons. First - you're setting up and doing the throw wrong, and the second you're predictable and everyone knows your moves. In both cases your technique is flawed and something has to be changed. All progressive MMA fighters are incorporating sambo submissions. It's easily explainable due to limited time on the ground ( 2-5 seconds to catch and another minute to complete ). Sambists research the fastest and most effective ways to finish for years. Why does everyone want to finish fast? It's an opportunity to finish in style and preserve your energy. I know the taste of quick finishes like no other. 25 years in sambo, 13 World Championships in which i earned 2 golds, 4 silvers, 1 bronze and most importantly 90% of my victories happened before regulation time expired. I spent 20000 hours

This video was longer, yes, yet very helpful. I have struggled to pull this submission off on a live opponent, and now I can catch nearly everyone. Respect!

I've been trying to get this submission for years in bjj, I watched so many videos on it. But now when I've seen it from a sambo perspective I'm hitting it way more often

I didn't think this was boring at all, I did wish to see some like specifics on manipulation of the foot as far as where the forearm goes but I guess it was kind of touched on based on the name. it also might be the 5th princple I wasnever at a seminar of his

Another video he says forearm at Achilles but an opponent did not tap to it so he moved to calf muscle and opponent tapped but usually on Achilles.

great stuff. I've seen other instructors recommend falling on the opposite side (in this case, it would be to the right) because that way you end up pinning the opponent's free leg between your body and the floor and also give you space to make adjustments since the arm applying the lock is now not pinned against the floor.
