You guys are documenting skateboard history that otherwise would never be known to most people, one week at a time. Thank you and keep killing it!
True!
Best most accurate comment ever
TRUE!!! I wouldn't have known who Dustin Dollin is without The Nine Club!
@@jonvia really?
We honestly need more people like Haslam. I hear people at the local discouraging kids from learning certain tricks because they arent cool or in style. Skating should just be fun and show your own expression because it's an artform.
@ILUV2SK8 504 get good and it won't take you a week
ILUV2SK8 504 I bet it's fun for some people 💁
@@kasper5688 it was fun for me coming up. We really didnt have RUclips or tutorials so we relied on each other or the og's for tips. That's honestly how we got better in the early 2000's. Plus watching vids too
takes me more than a week to learn any new trick xD
ILUV2SK8 504 it’s the joy of the struggle
Singaporean who did National Service right here. Watched Chris shred all the local spots in town. Thanks for this homies!
You saw early Haslam shredding in Singapore? That's like seeing a unicorn!
@@DapperCracker512 beardless!
Go Sports @ Margaret Drive with uncle Eddie?
Where were the spots in Singapore he frequented last time?
@@BenlshTracker he would go to Raffles Place, Somerset Skate Park right near Orchard. Those are the 2 spots that are still there!
"I'm losing my favourite game" - The Cardigans feat. Chris Haslam
ICONIC
@@Ken-pv9zu etched in my memory. damn good song to.
One of my favorite parts of all time... the song definitely puts it in that category too
Bwehh bwe-uh, bwehh bwe-uh, bwehh bwe-uh, bwehh...bwehh
Ken Comstock Haha!! Good man
Haslam is way too humble about the progression he brings.
Ps get Daewon on next
If they could follow up with song that would be epic
it seems the almost trio are all so humble about how good they are, him Daewon and rodney
@@LiamCuthbert Character definitely shows in your skating. Those three are three of the most creative skaters in history and three of the most humble, not a coincidence. Then you have people like Nyjah...
I think that's why Shane gets a lot of support, he's the closest to those 3 in wizardry but is humble af too.
I want a Daewon/Mullen combo episode.
His part in Almost Round 3 got me so pumped to skate when I was young!
BroWithBigHeart same man, I used to watch it every single day!
3 years later from your comment….. isn’t it insane? When I first saw that part I was like “this dude is elite” it’s so rad to hear the story of it all. He’s so humble
I quit skating 6 years ago when my Daughter was born, I’m a over the road truck driver now and The Nine Club is an EXCELLENT source of material for me to listen to while driving, THEE perfect podcast for me. You guys are doing great things!
Get a board and put it in the semi and Cruz around v when u have a chance. Always fun just riding
Im OTR as well. If you ever see me skating at the truck stop I always have numerous boards. Dont be afraid to ask me for one.
Do you guys get paid good as truck drivers? I might get my cdl to try and pay for college
@@aronious291
Decent money but away from home weeks at a time. Unless you do something local.
Gets to me when people quit. I was forced to quit through bad injury 18 years ago. I would give anything to just be able to cruise a skatepark. I get that kids can take your time though
Hey, weird story, but at the end of Cheese and Crackers, after the credits, they did some tricks on an off-road skateboard.....that was my dad's company. I've been trying to find a hard copy of that video for years, but can't seem to track one down.
That was the Dirty Cheese section. I own that video, along with Almost Round 3 and Red Dragons, and would never part with them LOL. Those 4x4 boards were sick.
I can't describe how much I enjoy this show. The sheer fact that you get to listen to your favorite skaters' life stories is just mind-blowing. The nine club deserves a lot more viewership, I really wish to see you guys grow more than ever. Thank you to the The nine club crew. Keep up that amazing work.
I love how this dude says moves instead of tricks. What a non-conformist
People used to say moves all the time. Its not that he's a non-conformist. It's just how him and his friends spoke.
Old school.
Probably has something to do with being Canadian. Different places have different lingo.
Yeah man, if you got the right moves, you can do that too
well it is a movement
Chris Haslam is the ONE who inspired me to ride a skateboard! Thanks a lot, The Nine Club!
RIP Lewis marnell ☝️🔥
Top Comment.
Lewis forever
He made me want dreads
Lewis was a great skater. Is it true he died from diabetes?
Pls do a interview with David Gravette :)
^^^^^^^^^^
pretty please 9 Club
they did
That video part blew my mind!
Nancey Drew Same.
Add a 4th "special" for this beautiful man.
beatiful man with a beatiful beard
Stayed up until 3 am for this!
Ontario represent!!
YAH YEAHHHH!!!!!! CANADA REPRESENT!!!
shit I was just about to go to bed when this popped up.. its gonna be a late one
Ontario and Canada in general. Makes me wonder how many times Haslam was skating around in my area (Kitchener) and didn't even know it was him. Skated in London too. Used to get a lot of people from out of town coming to the park at the Aud in Kitchener and just kill it! Seeing people like Bokma, Appleyard (as a very young ripper), Kennedy, and the Toronto heads back in the day was priceless!
Skating Kitchener is great
Singapore represent
How can you not like this guy. What a champion!
😂😂😂 at 1:02:30
“I had to do a body varial though”
“Why”
“I don’t know”
Amazing!!! The Haslam! Chris from the Richmond park!!!! The sickest dark slide the other day. Wow. Chris flowed me so much gear, pants, wheels, etc. He was a figure at our skate park. He treated the kids with utmost respect. Boarding house!!!!! River road!!! Stu is awesome too! Love you guys! Met your parents a few times too. Class acts. Epic.
I went for dinner with the indy team once in Bristol (Grosso, Steve Olson, French, Stu Graham and others who I cannot remember... Dressen maybe?) anyway Haslam was on this tour also and we all went to eat at Wagamama, which is a pretty nice Asian/noodle/japanese type joint and a really nice place to eat.. Haslam went off on his own and bought a Subway instead.. True Story....
Crob gingerly passing out the gifts is always funny.
I think it would be rad if you guys threw in pictures and short video clips here and there 🤙🏻
They do that on the experience. I think they just want a raw interview on here and it cuts down on editing time, since it's released weekly. I'd like it too though, I'm always pausing to google stuff during the episodes and half the time I can't even find it.
One of my favourite skaters of all time, only Rodney, Gonz & Daewon can match his approach and levels of creativity...Who can forget all of those one footed nose manuals & darkslides?
February must be a month for long haired bearded men on the Nine Club. First Sandoval now Haslam 💪 Thank you!
lee ralph next?
@@gurvanbodere5461 Maybe greyson fletcher!
Special guest after special guest... you guys are killing it! Love from Australia
Not only is your work highly appreciated, but so is the fact that these videos always drop Monday morning for European residents.
I just got off a long 12 hour shift at the hospital, hit the morning rush hour with tons of new snow and a slow commute. Didn't mind at all with this new episode. Amazing interview, Haslam is such a rad and interesting dude. Not even finished watching yet but no way I'm going to sleep before this is done. Thanks Nine Club, I love the show so much!
The Big Foot of skateboarding 9CLUBGANG!!!
Omg Haslam has inspired me so much and he seems a nice guy, thank you nine club for bringing this legend. He is the most complete skateboarder EVER #respect
Remember when Weekend Buzz was our only option. Those times were rough. Thanks 9 club for doing it right.
Saskatoon to Niagara Falls is only a 15 minute drive (25 minutes by dog sled, 40 by canoe) depending on the weather. Should have checked it out when you had the chance Chris Roberts.
Quite underwhelming , with the crowds of people crying kids trash on the floor concrete all around .. Canada fucked up could have made it much nicer if they didn’t let people get so close
Who remembers him skating Richmond park in van city!?!?
We need a David Gravette interview!!!
get arto saari on!!!
That would be sick!
Ayyyyyyeee!!!?!?!!!
That won't happen, he had his Epicly Later'd taken down , can't see him doing a Nine Club.
yeah, probably true. major bummer
In sorry they say he almost died twice filming that video. We all know the one story but I've always wanted to hear the other
Me: I've always loved how Chris has that homeless guy aesthetic.
Me at 50:10: oh my God it's not an aesthetic, it's a lifestyle.
Such a good one! Wanna say thanks for all you guys are doin for skateboarding nine club dudes😎🍻 easily the most in depth interviews of skateboarding ever.
HELL YEAH!!! I’ve been waiting on this forever keep up the great work guys👍👍
Guys. I just wanna say I'm thankful for what you're doing! The world of skateboarding is so deep and fascinating. It's so dope to get these interviews and hear all the backstories etc.... Salute!
10:00 . Chris, hell no. You have it so wrong. When Chris moved to Vancouver there'd be these rumours of this kid who was so good from Singapore just destroying it. I remember the first time seeing him skate and was one, really surprised he was white and two, blown away. Somebody pointed him out and the first trick he did was a really good flip back lip on this pyramid with a big bar on top and it went from there. He was fucking amazing. He may have felt out of place but he was the goods, make no mistake. I've filmed him do some NBD's and he just lands, smiles and doesn't think it's a big deal. He's a great guy to skate with, especially if you suck. I'm awful at mini but I've skated with him and he didn't make me feel like I was anything but a peer. You don't feel self conscious when skating with him even though he's so much better than you. Great guy.
Update: 31:35 Funny he mentions the flip back lip flip out because I filmed that (was thinking about that one as one of the NBD's I filmed of him). Then at 32:58 he talks about Deca and I was bummed because I was going to get him on Maple but he said he was just getting a good feel with Deca and was probably going to get on, so we just barely missed out on Haslam after all his struggles to get on somebody for so long.
"Mongo heelflipper" sounds like me when I first started skating lol.
You guys are truly experts of your craft, fueling the fire of hype for people's upcoming and recent content with amazing podcasts. Thank you y'all!
I've watched the link to round 3 ten times already. About to go back again. I don't think I will ever get through this episode. Amazing. Thanks again guys!
This guy is rad and his last part is probably the best part released in the last 5 years!!
90K boyz great job with everything... thank you everyone in The Nine Club and Experience
I love how Wizard master Haslam calls his tricks "Moves".
Video part was amazing was not expecting this thanks 9club🙏🏽
His mindset seems to be just like the one skaters had when I was starting to skate. I mean like really thinking about skating, analyzing it almost, discussing it with friends, and doing all just for the sake of it. For the fun. I love Chris Haslam. And fun (and maybe little wierd) side note - he is the only one pro skater, that appeard in my dream once. We skated the mini ramp obviously, but I'm thinkig of that dream like it's some kind of real and cool memory from my childhood. So yeah, he has a special place in my heart! :) Thank you Nine club, you've done it again!
Chris, I know your new venture will return what you have already built and given us from years of your raw talent. Again, thank you all @The9!
Hell Yeah!!!!!! One of my top five, so unique. Stoked to watch this one!
One of the best 9s hands down
Ive skated his Globe Odin shoes for yearssss...have like 20 pairs of them..still skating them today..i stocked up!
Finally!!! i've been waiting for this since starting watching these amazing videos over a year ago. Haslam was my fave skater growing up
I never clicked so fast
Ma'ruf, Ma'ruf. Ma'ruf is on fire.
I'd love to see Chris skate a mini ramp.
Thank you for another great episode.
Ive always called a darkslide with one foot in the middle a Rowley darkslide unless it has another name.
I knew someone had to know this fact! prob cuz of thps. rowley ds is like heelflip front lip darkside with front foot in middle
Mark Gonzales was the first to do a darkslide (albeit caveman darkslide on a rail), and he did it with his front foot in the middle between the trucks.
Two weeks in a row with people i really wanted to hear from! killing it with the interviews
Haslam is such a humble chill dude to meet in person, THE WIZARD!!
Great interview guys! Haslam is the best, and now I need to go back and watch some old footage!
The last two shows been 🔥 thank you guys, another reason to live til next Monday
HELL YEAH! One of my all time favorites! His almost round 3 part was the first part I ever saw. You duh goat haslam!
Awesome show! Haslam is one of my fav skaters out there. Like one of my best friends said: Mullen is The Father, Song is The Son and Haslam is The Holy Spirit... amen!
Just started and i already know this is gonna be awesome!!
He skated really well at RDS indoor park, the Crackpipe, the Westbeach Ramp, and Richmond Skatepark on River Road. He was really good at all those, plus Bonsor!!
great talk + props for having his dog leash always with him.... ;) ps. how isn t any company giving this guy money ???!!!
It's funny that he mentioned Pizza Hut, back in the late 90's my friend lived near the Pizza Hut on Wonderland in London, we used to occasionally skate a gap there and one day he was there and a dude showed up that had moved from somewhere to go to school, and was ollieing it with ease. I think he may have skated with him another time as well. I ran into Chris at Slam City 2001 and got a picture with him (shaved head period) and we chatted a bit about the area (he had lived in Byron right beside London) but I never put together the Pizza Hut thing till later. I'm guessing it was him though. A couple of the London homies had heard stories of Chris doing stuff like 360 flipping off the Vic Park stage barefoot, sort of an urban legend in those days lol.
By FAR Best episode yet
I have been waiting two years for Haslam on the Nine Club...thank you !
Feels weird hearing Chris Roberts talk about Ontario.. super cool love the mix love the show! Chris Haslam very cool
Was so hyped to see Haslam for this week.. much love to you all, thanks for the content
Great episode!!!! I concur with having Arto Saari on!!! Thanks Haslam for all you e done for skateboarding. Mad props🤙🏼
Thank you for this, sincerely!
great pick guys. watched the whole episode all day!
Glad to have met him & watch him skate in san jose in 2013 at the independent truck rider rally at lake Cunningham skatepark dude is super chill and shreds🤙 shoutout Haslam
but i had to do bodyvarial though
why?
I don't know
He snapped his board when he filmed in my college in China about ten years ago , he gave it to someone and that guy sold it to me. Remember there was a shinny huge Indy round sticker at back, and it’s a 8.2 deck I think, I was skating 7.5 then. And every time I did a trick I got to check if the board was okay. I skated it for two months. Best time.
Thank youuu for relieving the history ❤️
I think Haslam inspired alot of the new generations street skating among a few other people. Stoked to see him on the show!
Oh jeez yes! Thanks guys!
great guest choice and great timing considering his new part release :) love Haslam!
Yes Yes Yes Boom!!!! ONE OF THE BEST OF ALL TIME
Thank you the nine club with Chris Roberts.... good timing...
Been waiting for this bloke. The man.
Thx again for another episode. Super cool.
Wow I remember Chris killing it in Almost Round 3, one of my favourite skate movies. I think I was 12 or 13 back then and I skated a lot. I am 27 now and caught the hype again and I am buying skateboard this year!! 😂
Really surprised he didn’t talk about riding the long white cloud and fuel tv days doing the Steve, either way amazing episode brings me back good memories
from one beardist to another, Haslam has a SICKENING beard!!!
first remember seeing Chris in Deca- second to none. been a big fan ever since!
This is easily one of my top casts 👌🏻 I met Chris at Parallel in 2017 and he was the nicest dude ever. He's definitely one of those skaters that always brings something badass to the world, he's like a mad scientist.
It's crazy thinking about the entire process of trying to get sponsored back before social media, these days guys are getting snapped up by companies on a daily basis it seems, a revolving door almost. Loved this interview, thanks for doing this, this podcast really is one of a kind!
I only watched 5 minutes and I already know this is gold
I love these vids because growing up in rural Sweden I never learned all of this shit about skateboarding. You guys always have me google some video I never saw or some special part. Thanks!
The video part he just put out was legendary. really blew my mind
I had waited for this interview for a long time I had to come back and re watch ⌚ to make sure it was real
“I’ll put 4 in the front, 4 in the back” I busted out laughing.
I swear to god I was just thinking yesterday they need to have Chris Haslam on the nine club and the skate gods have prevailed!
I met Chris in Málaga, Spain, and had a few skate sessions and good chats back then, super nice dude, humble and damn talented. Funny that I ended up living in Singapore for 3 years too, what a coincidence aiyoooo!. My best wishes to him with his new projects. I do illustration as well, I hope we can collaborate one day! Awesome video guys, thanks for this, :)
I was in Malaga a couple of years ago during a cruise stop. What a beautiful city! It must be a skaters paradise but as a failed skater I could never hope to utilise the spots 👎🏻
Finally! God damn. Now....we need Fowler. I really dig what you guys are doing.
@damian jenkin Ethan Fowler episode would be rad
Chris looking through the Indy books was hilarious it reminded me or weckingball saying how everyone skipped his part lol.
Thanks for portuguese subtittles, Haslam is the best!!!
Congrats on 90k!
