Starship Traveller was my second gamebook, the first being The Citadel Of Chaos. Wonderful books.

These books are great. My first book was Island of the Lizard King. Back in 1984. Collected them ever since.
I always imagined Starship traveller was like Star Trek or Lost in Space.
Similar stories, find your way back home to Earth. Its a very hard book to complete, with six different codes to find, and 18 planet's to explore. It all comes down to finding the right planets to get the correct codes. A fun book to read.

I remember it being pretty difficult back in the day Rhymester. Even playing it again wasn't easy. Great memories of a great book.

i’m a TTRPG artist/designer/illustrator and completely , accidentally stumbled into Fighting Fantasy books late last year.
I was completely enthralled! I Purchased Warlock of Firetop Mountain - loving it! After the TTRPG expansion I am working in is complete - i’m hoping to get plugged into the FF writer community and do some art for one of these books.
love yer content! keeps me excited for FF. 😊

The Warlock of Firetop Mountain was my first. I received it a little before Christmas 1982, purchased through one of those school book club offers. I read it during the Christmas school holidays and I was instantly hooked. I’d been reading the CYOA books for a few years but this was the next level. It eventually led me to tabletop role playing games.

Warlock was probably my fourth read. Great memories. Thanks Jason.

My older brother owned The Forest of Doom. Such an iconic title page.

Great book and so nostalgic with the shapeshifter creature on the front! 👍

It was my first Gamebook as well, I got mine through a book scheme (I think it was called Focus) in my English class at secondary school, and loved it.
I remember that to complete the book you had to have encountered certain co-ordinates and when you used them in the final part it gave you the number of the page to turn to which led to completing the journey home. Took me many attempts to get through and succeed.
Then got Forest of Doom on my next trip to the dentists (as a reward for no fillings).
    Great books, loads of fun.

Yeah.. co-ordinates weren't easy. I remember failing on a few attempts. No internet back then for help. Loved Forest too. great book. Thanks RPGGamer. 👍

My first book was Island of the Lizard King. I must have been 8 or 9 at the time. I was immediately drawn by its cover. Never had imagined that what was inside was even better.

First one I played was Forest of Doom. I was a bit disappointed to get Island of the Lizard King for Christmas after that. I really wanted to get Deathtrap Dungeon! We played so many of these as kids, swapping with friends and getting from the school library.
