    Gosh, I had no idea they are worth so much now. I have each and every one of the greenbacks, up to #59. Collector here in Singapore, read them growing up. Never gonna give them up.

      Same here. I bought them back in the day and had no idea they would become so expensive (otherwise I'd have bought more copies!).

    Crazy Prices. I set myself a limit of £15 for books and at this point I am only missing about ten of the original run. I have #50-54, plus #59. But obviously I am missing the quartet of #55-58. Looking back, I just keep thinking why didn't I pick up 3 copies of each when they were on the shelf back in the day...I could have made a fortune. 🙂

    All of those books would have been 1st edition as it was stated only 5,000 books printed. Only Curse of the Mummy has been reprinted and that was under Wizard (or was that Icon). So those eBay listings showing 1st edition just seem like useless information.

    I’ve long since given up believing I will own the last 6 Fighting Fantasy gamebooks. I stupidly stopped collecting them near the end of the original Puffin run. I used to naively think they might turn up at charity shops. Hah! Learning a time travel spell seems to be my only hope.

    I was given a box full of these books from my parents when I started getting interested in the 'Wizard' reprints. Luckily for me they had a complete collection save for Deathmoor and Mage Hunter, and I ended up downloading those from annarchive, which wasn't ideal for gameplay but it's better than paying crazy money for old paperbacks.
    I have tried buying _some_ books though. A few years back I was outbid on ebay for volumes three and four of the Zagor Chronicles. The other guy went up to thirty pounds for both and then the time ran out. I can't even find them anywhere now and I'm mentally kicking myself for being so cheap because I'll never know how the story ends 😭😭😭
    Revenge of the Vampire I feel is let down by that bug at the beginning involving the payment of horse and the inn. Unless you cheat you can't take the optimal path through the adventure. I don't know if other folk get irked by things like that.

    I got 3 of these. Unfortunately not mage hunter. Revenge of the vampire is a great sequel to Vault of the Vampire. Deathmoor and Knights of Doom pretty ok too if a little bit random. Follow the trend of latter books of everything being Skill 9-10 so if someone says oh I finished that easy then just give them two fingers.

    Managed to get Deathmoor for a tenner! First edition with an unmarked adventure sheet too!

    I have some earlier books. I don't want money. But I would swap them for other books: is there a website for that? Being in Kangaroo Land also makes book swapping harder.

    70 pounds for an ongoing auction isn't indicative of anything. I love your videos but it's literally 2 seconds of effort you didn't do. Completed auctions for deathmoor is pretty consistently 140+ pounds.

      I'm always looking to improve on points I've missed in videos. Your absolutely correct on this on this one! Its should have been a buy now and not a bid. Thanks for pointing my error out. it would be a steal at that price indeed tho!

    If you have watched my above video I mentioned the soaring price of one particular book… Revenge Of the Vampire. I even seen a Facebook post of $700 dollars on EBay for it. Assuming that’s real of course. If you have any ideas why this books asking value has surpassed Magehunter.. please comment below! 👍

      My theory is because of the last 5 gamebooks this is the one that wasn't picked up very much - and there are less that were floating around out there. The premise and the artwork seemed a bit lame to younger me - who had no connection to hammer films. Curse I think was even rarer (and lamer looking), but reprints have an impact.

      @@backstreetsbackalright5754 Good point in regard to Revenge. Curse definitely rarer. Very hard to get a copy of it in such a very good condition. Unless its just a sell-on to make money. Again the price problem...

      I think there are a lot of people who don't know what they are doing when selling. Books priced reasonably sell. Books overpriced don't. Then people look online and see what is listed and think that's the price.

    • @poobum333
      @poobum333 4 месяца назад

      @@drdiscostu Vey true. Its harder to find bargains because as you say, people just do a quick google search for pricing.

    • @poobum333
      @poobum333 4 месяца назад

      I think they only mostly reprinted Ian's and Steve's books. Alot of the later books in the series were written by different authors. Its a good question though.

      In the case of _Magehunter,_ Paul Mason left a comment on another RUclips video (search for "Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks Review Part 6") stating that when Wizard Books was republishing the Fighting Fantasy series, one of the conditions for reprinting his books was that he would have to relinquish the copyright of the text to Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone, which he considered to be unethical (and I agree with this). He was also aggrieved that Steve and Ian received all the royalties from foreign editions of his FF books. I don't expect _Magehunter_ will be reprinted any time soon, then...
