- Here is how i built a small flower bed retaining wall using softwood (railway style) landscape sleepers.
Digging out a trench, compacting mot type 1, cutting the sleepers as needed. Screw each together, brace with metal brackets and concrete in place. Finished off with a clear wood treatment.

Great video mate, job well done!
Nice watching and learning new ideas mate 👍
Great job 👍
@The Country Cottage Gardener Thank you Chris, that's hard work, I'm glad little Charlie had the day off😇, please take a break as well, thank you again...😊...
Useful video! When cutting the sleepers with a circular saw like you did in the video, how do you get a straight flush cut when making two cuts to cut through the whole sleeper?
quality work mate amazing how its lifted the appearance with the lighter colour 👍 them original sleepers would have lasted if they had applied preservative to the flat tops . but nothing lasts for ever & it brings in the work.
Interesting to see how you went about that Chris. I had a similar job a while back and was using the 18V Dewalt circular saw and found it to be bogging down a bit when cutting sleepers. I have since upgraded my circular saw to the Dewalt DCS575N 54V Flexvolt........WOW what a difference. If you have a lot of sleeper work, it is well worth a look mate, it is a beast !
Hi, thanks for watching the video. Using the 5ah batteries I didn't have any issues. Tbh the blade was pretty new as well. I'll use a chainsaw if doing lots of cutting, but not ideal for clean cuts.
I'd love the 54 fv maybe DeWalt will send me some kit one day 🤣🤣
Looks well mate.
Thanks pal
You should work as a dentist. That sleeper removal was tecnique and surgical. Good work. 👌👍
Nice top job👍
Thank you 👍
Do you use more sleepers doing it this way..
I would say maybe one or two more sue to the offcuts.
