  • Has Honda made a mistake by not offering a 2019 Civic Si hatchback. This Civic Sport Touring hatchback may be the closest Honda fans may ever get to one. The great news is that the 1.5L turbocharged engine can be connected a CVT or 6-speed manual transmission. Check out all the details on the 2019 Honda Civic Sport hatchback to see if it's worth a consideration.

I totally agree with you, a SI hatch would be a great idea. But i doubt Honda would ever make one because Honda thinks if you want a hatch that's sporty, then you might just have to opt for a type R.

You should transform one into an Si like people made a Focus ST sedan. To me, that is truly unique and that is deserves mad respect because it's not produced in the factory. Of course, it's going to a butt load of money but it would be super dope. Lol.

Owning a Honda Accord Sport with CVT and paddles...I can tell you, in either "D" or "S" mode, tapping the down shift paddle
puts the "virtual" gear in the sweet spot to accelerate. Keep in mind when in "S" you have to continue to up shift with the up shift paddle,
when in "D" it automatically reverts back. I have yet to see anyone reviewing these cars demonstrate this. I also use the downshift paddle to
brake assist with the engine. Also, if you have it in "S" and you don't touch a paddle, it will shift automatically but with higher rev changes.
If you select "S" and tap a paddle, it put's you in manual and you have to up shift to the next gear. To disengage, just put it back into "D".
It's not so boring if you operate the car in this manner occasionally, although it does not replace an actual manual. Good review, I'm considering
a Civic Hatch Sport next, so thanks.

Hatchback should have more power to compete with other competition. I understand it'd take away from the Type R, but on-par with the Si or maybe a little more than the Si would make sense. It is more expensive, too.

Got mine last week I love it. I went from a 14' Focus SE so its a big step up. Loads of technology, CVT is surprisingly good and I love the styling especially the rear end. Lights are fantastic at night too.
If you're concerned about power, just an ECU remap will see gains of 40+hp given its turbocharged, that would take you considerably above a stock SI. I plan on doing a tune soon, it will also improve responsiveness and fuel economy on highways too.

Only bad thing with the Sport trim is that they took away some of the goodies offered on the sport touring, like heated leather seats, larger infotainment screen with Android auto/Apple carplay, full LED headlights with auto highbeam, Lanewatch, moonroof, rainsensing wipers, dual climate zones, keyless entry/pushbotton start, and a few more things.

Leather seats in my opinion is a blessing and a curse. They do feel better yes, but when it’s freezing or blazing hot outside, it’s the worst thing to sit on and they get creases over time. It is also a safety hazard for “me”. It will feel to good that I’ll fall asleep behind the wheel

This CVT is underrated. Ive put 60k miles on my 2016 sedan cvt so far. It took awhile before i really learned how to utilize it correctly. First you have to stop treating it like it needs to work like an automatic. It is very tourqy between 2500-4000 rpm, it doesnt force a fake “shift” or “adjustment” unless you let off the accelerator. Also if you are cruising 60-70 mph on the highway and you want to aggressively pass someone, you give it a sharp jump to 3500-4000 rpm and it picks up at a very satisfying speed. When you force it above 4500 rpm, that’s where the power drops off and there’s nothing there.

Go with the Corolla hatch. Your granddaughter won't look like a ricer, and Toyota is more reliable because it uses both port and direct injection. Whereas Honda is only direct injection coupled with turbo, so expect their cars to have carbon buildups; meaning higher maintenance cost. Every 30,000 miles you have to remove the intake manifold and manually clean the carbon deposits. Unless you know how to do it yourself, you'd have to hire a professional to clean it for you which would run you a couple hundred dollars. If you go with Corolla get it in manual because the CVT have faulty torque converter. They're getting recalled as we speak. Just look up "corolla hatch cvt recall".

You've got a good sense of humor but you're not grandstanding like so many adult RUclipsrs who think they need to act like a drunken teenager to build an audience. You keep the focus on the topic at hand (the car), not on how "special" and "funny" you are. You're obviously thinking *about the audience* which is surprisingly rare on RUclips these days.
