    It’s nice to see Honda offer the Sport trim for the sedan now! It’s a good gap from the base model to the EX trim. It’s a bummer that the 2.0 engine is the only option, although there’s a known gas/oil dilution issue with the 1.5T. Personally, I like the black trim pieces compared to the chrome, especially the grille. The Civic really needs to adapt regular blind spot monitoring though...enough of my thoughts. Great work fellas, keep it up! Excited to see your future Corolla video and a comparison if you get a chance!

      Studio Cottage since the 1.5T came out there are reports of gasoline/oil dilution. Last I knew Honda didn’t have a fix yet. I should have said problem, not problems. It sounds like it’s been mire widespread in the CR-V but some Civics too

    Just bought one in the Argentian blue. Interestingly the Sport model here in Canada sells ABOVE the EX since our version of the Sport model includes the power seat, right corner camera and moonroof which is not offered on the US model, but no standard transmission is offered as in the US. Our EX model is the same as the US version but no EX-L version. Only thing that does not make sense is that black trunk spoiler which should have been color-keyed to match each color as it looks like an add-on or aftermarket tack-on item on all except the black colored cars.

    Totally love the new front design! A lot cleaner, more sophisticated, and allows for the "H" Honda emblem to stand alone, as it should. The main thing I would like to see added is a tune/scroll/select knob. They totally could have fit in the space between the physical buttons and the volume knob (just move the volume knob up). Looking at videos of some of the other cars/competitors in the sub compact class, most, if not all, have that knob. Hoping that they add it to the 2020 models.

    Honda continues to up their game in sedans. This will appeal to first time drivers, recent graduates, small families, and many daily drivers in all market segments. The biggest rival, of course, is the Corolla. But the Civic offers more performance from both the base and the turbo engines and the magic 40+ highway mpg's (at least as good as the Corolla). Most drivers may have difficulty achieving that figure but it will jump off the Moroney sticker on the window in the showroom. Some will be disappointed with a CVT but the fuel efficiency that results will appeal to many more. Toyota will counter with their reputation for reliability but Honda is no slouch in that department.
    There are several other noteworthy alternatives in this market segment but the one that stands out (imo) is the 2019 Kia Forte. Similar mileage from what KIA claims is an "intelligent" CVT. Somewhat roomier and with higher quality interior components in the upper trim levels than either the Civic or the Corolla. Near identical (or better) MSRP's with comparable (or better) base engine performance. Not to mention the typical KIA discounts compared to the Honda and the Toyota. And from a reliability standpoint the KIA five year bumper-to-bumper and ten year power train warranties are reassuring, especially given KIA's significant reliability/durability ratings improvements in recent years. KIA won't challenge either the Civic or the Corolla in terms of sales but the Forte deserves a look.

    • @kc64cl76
      @kc64cl76 5 лет назад +2

      The KIA Forte is terrible. Have you driven one? I was amazed at how bad it was. Overboosted steering, extremely harsh ride, terrible CVT. They were already discounted 4k and they just came out.

    In 2017 you could get an Accord for the same price for the EX trim in civic. The price is ridiculously High for mid trims (EX & above), that's why I'm seeing more sentras and corollas on road. People don't wanna pay that much for a civic even with the latest technologies. 1.6L is more sold than 2.0L here atleast.

  • @jjacob25101
    @jjacob25101 5 лет назад +4

    This is a very nice car, specifically targeted for a certain group from young to old that like the sporty appearance and performance, but most of the creature comforts and refinements for a great price. It was not meant to be what the turbo Sport Hatchback and Sport Touring Hatchback, or Si is, fir those the want to modify their cars. This was meant to be almost that, with a tradeoff of slightly more added amenities, upgraded interior trim, the keyless entry and push button start, along with the upgraded radio, and latter two that seems to be absent in the
    Base Sport Hatchback. Being that it's early in the 2029 production, and that the hatchbacks are made in the UK, they may add it later in the middle year. Some say the non Turbo 2.0L may have more agressive, sport oriented recalibration for 2019, though less horsepower than the Sport Hatchback models. This lack of the turbo, but added two features mentioned above may be the tradeoff in price, in addition to this non Turner's have less fuss to deal with turbo warm up and cool down after harder driving. The Sport Sedan and Coupe have the gunmetsl finish wheels like the Sport Hatchback models, while the Touring Sedan has the brighter silver finish of the same wheels like the Si. Also, the Sport Hatchback previously had the nice, but basic non TFT instrument panel like the LX, with the sportier red lighting but has been upgraded to the upgraded TFT display this year, like the Sport Touring Hatchback, and new Sport Sedan and Coupe. I believe the Si, Touring Sedan, and Sport Touring Hatchback/Type R have the upgraded speakers and amplification at 540 watts, not 450, if I remember right. The hatchbacks mentioned have 12 speakers, and the sedan versions have 10 speakers. The new Sport Sedan and Coupe is a great new addition to the Civic lineup. I wanted the Sport hatchback, but was disappointed at the lack the keyless entry and push button start, along with the upgraded radio, so, I may opt for the Sport Sedan, instead.

    As I always say you guys do an excellent review by including as much detail as possible and the differences on each trim level. I can say I'm happy Honda is improving but honestly they have ruined the Civic in my opinion. They have HondaSensing standard now which not everyone wants, I liked the chrome grill vs a blacked out one, and if possible add LEDs for every interior AND exterior light. It's going to last a lot longer for the consumer and it helps visibility which helps safety.

      Lol. It is a gift from God. I hear you. It is almost virtually perfect for what it is, and it's intended design and marketing audience and price point. It is NOT a Type R, or Si, and not meant to be, nor is it at this price points, though the Si is not much more. Those two cars have a few problems and drawbacks, especially if you don't want to shift manual, and don't need the extra power or TLC of the turbo for warm up and cool down on hot runs. I plan to get one of these. I wanted the Sport Hatchback, but the 2019 does not have the keyless entry, push button start and updated/upgraded radio and speakers, and the sedan has that, and nicer interior appointment additions at a lower cost. I don't intend to do much tuning or modifications except a tune that may bring it up about 20 HP like the turbo version. Perfect affordable sporty car for those that want what it has in appearance, handling, performsnce and comfort out of the box.

    While driving my 2016 Honda Civic EX around 20 mph the electric parking brake engaged locking up and sliding the rear tires. The car was jerking. A light came on the dash saying 'computer error, have the parking brake serviced'. The car is unsafe to drive so I had it hauled to the Honda of Cleveland Tenn service department. They worked on the car and the service department manager said nothing they did addressed or corrected the electric parking brake malfunction. The car was returned to me on 7/23/19 .
    If I was traveling at a high speed and the electric parking brake locked the rear tires the car would go out of control and crash. I was afraid to drive the car so I traded it for a 2017 Accord LX (an EX type Honda has more features than a LX which is the bottom of the line), which did not appeal to me, but it has a mechanical parking brake,. I think I will be much safer in the Accord so on 7/29/19 I traded my Civic for the Accord at a cost to me of $3,669.49. ($2,000 to trade, $1,169 for a new extended warranty, and a $500 loss when I had to cancel my previous extended warranty, and buy the new warranty).
    I ask the American Honda Motor Co., Inc for compensation,on 8/4/19 and on "08/09/19 they replied/refused, saying the problem with the electric parking brake had been repaired. The brake problem has not been repaired and all these cars should be recalled. I'm sure they did not bother to look into the problem. The following is their reply:
    "08/09/2019
    Dear John
    Thank you for the reply.
    We have received the requested information and after further review of the diagnosis from Honda Cleveland the vehicle was repaired. We have looked into your request for compensation and we regret to inform you that American Honda Motor Co., Inc will not be in the position to provide the compensation requested.
    Kind regards,

    I think one of the main reasons why Civic didn’t have the same infotainment as the Accord is because the Civic is considered to be the smaller entry models, so Honda decided to keep the same infotainment for Civic and reserve the new infotainment for bigger models mainly for cost-cutting purposes

      And hoping maybe the CR-V will have the newer infotainment at mid-cycle refresh, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it still has the same infotainment

      The 2019 Civic Sport Sedan and Coupe, along with the new HR-V Sport and higher trims have the same updated/updated 7" radio with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the physical buttons and volume control knob on the left side with an 8 speaker 180 watt system. The Touring model has the 10 speaker 540 watt system with subwoofer like the Civic Si. The Civic Sport Hatchback has that same system with two more surround sound speakers in the rear roof pillars, and should be getting that updated radio to replace the previous one without the physical buttons and volume knob. At this time, The base 2019 Sport Hatchback has all the added features mentioned from the Sport Sedan, except the keyless entry/pushbutton start, some upgraded interior touches, and still has the base LX 5" non touch screen radio, 160 watt 4 speaker stereo system for a higher price than the Sport Sedan, which is one of the main reasons I would get the Sport Sedan over the Sport Hatchback, unless I can spring for the Sport Touring Hatchback when I am ready to get my new car.

    I’m going to the after market to get the wing spoiler that is on the coupe. They won’t put that one on the sedan and the one for the sedan sits really low and i just don’t care for it. The raised spoiler on the coupe will make the back of the sedan look great otherwise it’s a little boring compared to the front

    Is it really worth getting the 2019 over 2018 model? I dont care for the exterior changes much, but are there notable interior changes? (i.e. is the new infotainment only available on 2019 and not 2018, and it is worth?). I'm considering of just getting the 2018 EX and then add on Honda Sensing, which would probably still be cheaper than 2019 EX.

    Being a "refresh" as Honda claimed....
    ...I barely see any changes being made on the outside... (I mean, they could've taken the similar taillights on the new Insight and added them on here for instance)

    • @tr0llbuster292
      @tr0llbuster292 5 лет назад

      They changed those vents everyone complained about. That's the refresh. Most of it looks it's from the civic hatch sport.

    • @jjacob25101
      @jjacob25101 5 лет назад

      Everything costs money, and the point is to keep cost down. They can always update the taillights to fit the same space, and go full LED or slightly smoke finish, but things like that are not major corporate consideration priorities.

    • @jjacob25101
      @jjacob25101 5 лет назад

      As I see it, they didn't change the front and rear lower fascias of the Sport Hatchback models. The only Sedan that has those more agressive panels is the Si. For this Sport Sedan and Coupe, they just spiffed up the front ones with the fog lights and Sense panel for a more toned down appearance for the target market, probably the same reason for using the non turbo 2.0L engine, for less cost and maintenance for decent performance from a more mainstream buyer that wants the Sporty Appearance pieces and performance steering and suspension.

    Aesthetic wise, it's a beautiful looking compact sedan. The CVT transmission is questionable but we'll see in the long run how reliable they are.
    There's been issue with oil dilution with the 1.5 turbo engine, also shared with the CRV, but there's been no major TSB on it in the United states. Yet. It's when oil is mixed with gas causing side effects such as engine stalling, strong gasoline smell, and possible overfill of oil. Cases for the civics are slim to none so far for the 2019 model. Supposedly, honda has fixed this problem
    The design of this vehicle inside and out is nearly identical to the 2016 model civics so no biggie here for 2019. I still feel aside from the Corolla, this is one of the best compact sedan you can buy today.

    • @unrealisticgoals
      @unrealisticgoals 5 лет назад +4

      How can you even mention corolla into this? My 2016 touring civic has 143k miles already (yes, i drive a lot) and even though its like 40 %city 60%highway, the CVT still runs like when i bought the car brand new, no weird sounds, only thing done to the car is the regular maintenance and tires. Not to mention that when i had my car at like 70k miles, i used to push it hard very frequently, yet its still like new now at 143k

    hi guys I have a couple questions. I'm torn between the LX and the Sport. I understand the wheels on the Sport are larger which means less tire around the wheel and less of a plush and cushy feel. I instantly feel that plushness in the LX and for whatever reason, the car feels more responsive picking up to speed on the freeway than the Sport. I know it's the same exact engine so I must be feeling the difference in the wheels. I test drove both LX and Sport Sedans, both non-manual transmission. One thing the Sport has is I heard it's slighter easier to handle/safer in the event of an accident. thoughts?

    • @CarConfections
      @CarConfections  5 лет назад +1

      It is true that a smaller wheel means thicker tires and slightly better ride quality. As far as the handling, I haven't personally driven the LX but there shouldn't be any big difference in the types of tires

    • @billwylde4846
      @billwylde4846 5 лет назад +3

      I have the 2018 Honda Civic LX with the 6 speed manual and I have done research between the LX and the Sport. Besides the wheel size difference and the creature comforts like the infotainment system. The front stabilizer bar in the Sport is thicker than the LX. 25.0 mm (tubular) vs 25.5 mm (tubular) for the Sport. So... that is as Sport as the Civic Sport gets. I would like to add the 16 inch steel wheel setup are very compliant to bumps, even at high speed in comparison to the 18 inch alloy wheel setup. When it comes to the 18 inch rims, you WILL feel the bumps but the Civic is a pretty stable car when it hits bumps at high speed regardless of wheel size. I know this because I did drive the 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport with the CVT as well. By the way, when you take tight corners fast, the 16 inch wheels feel slow to respond incomparison to the 18 inch wheels. If you are for performance, I would go
      for the 18 inch wheels because there are better tire choices than what the 16 inch wheels have. Another thing to add, put premium fuel in any trim of this generation of Civic. Your car will feel better to drive when you push it. Using regular fuel doesn't do the K20C2 or the L15B7 justice. It's stated in the Owner's Manual for fuel reccomendation is 87 octane or higher.
      Oh yeah the LX comes with Hankook Kinergy GT (H Speed Rated) or the Firestone FT140 (H Speed Rated). Both of these all season tires are meant for fuel economy driving. So they don't grip the road that well. While the Sport has the Goodyear Eagle Sport All Season (W Speed Rated), which have alot more grip than the LX's tires.
      I have to add something else, it's about the CVT transmission. When you are already in motion on the highway. D is faster than S because when you floor the car in D. It will provide you a higher gear ratio to accelerate in motion than being in S. When you have the transmission in S, it doesn't go to a higher gear ratio because the car thinks the ratio it gave you is already good enough for what you want out of it. Even though you floor it. Let me put it to you this way. S is good for stop and go moments, hilly environments and corners (Acceleration ratio). While D is better when you are already at highway speeds (Top Speed ratio).

      The sport package doesn’t just include bigger sway bars.
      It has retuned shock absorbers, and even different control arms.
      If you drive a sport and than an LX you will immediately notice that the sport handles much better.
      The sport rides more firm however, the LX is a much more comfortable drive.

      All the cruze owners should know by now how much worth their car is. It's not worth a shiit. Sell it b4 something major happens. My transmission failed twice and the oil mixing on the coolant which totally broke the car. Basically internal oil leakage leading to misfire and damging the transmission even more.
