These CVTs are so good with the Nissan VQs. I’m on my 4th Nissan and these CVTs do well especially when you change the fluid every 30k miles. I had an 07 3.5 SE and it had the CVT and it got to 201,734 miles on the original tranny before it was totaled. I have a ‘21 Maxima SR now and I love it. The CVT is smooth.
@@AlexMartinez-oq8xu so far so good actually. No issues with transmission at 94K. Have had to chance things like wheel hub and I believe cv joint is bad. But that can happen to any car.

Can you believe they said they don't change the filters. They just cycle the fluid 😂 unreal! Good job Nissan as a manufacturer and a dealer! Dipshits! Again great Content bro and thank you for this. Man you are a life saver. I have been waiting for a video on how to do this. Nissan wants almost 500 to do this and I'm ike hell no! I do the fluid changes on my other cats with traditional transmissions, but I was always afraid to ruin a cvt not doing it correctly. Thanks again for this and I believe in every 30,000. My wife's 16 SR Maxima has 40,000 on it with zero issues.
This was a very helpful video I think I will use your video to help me do my own transmission fluid flush & filter change. I also wanted to ask in the video you said your fluid was very dark & smelly. So did your check engine light come on when it was indicating that it was time to be changed?
While the Maxima has a CVT, they don't seem to have the same issues as lesser Nissans with CVT's in them. The Maxima has more robust CVT cooling, the Altima has issues with cooling the CVT and will quit while driving if it gets too worked over & hot. I had the dealer do the full swap of fluid and new filter on the CVT. $189 and it saved me tons of time. I'd have NISSAN do it if you have any warranty left on your drivetrain, you know they'll blame you if you do it yourself and something goes wrong with the CVT.
In Canada the dealer wants $615 and says the filter change is optional, they don't even mention the strainer. So you can add a couple hundred bucks more.
i live in UAE and the company told me u most not open the cartier gearbox. only take off the old oil and put new one and drive for 20km, and remove it again and put a new oil again then done. i hope u understand me😄

How’s the car now? I have friends who drove more than 230k miles without changing the fluid and its really doing well… here in Dubai, the dealership actually doesnt change the NS3 fluid… they only inspect and top up if the quantity was less… usually every 85k miles… idk if the Gulf Specification is different but really nobody is having any issues here without changing the fluid… even if you are under warranty.. they will never change the CVT fluid for you because the transmission is used to the old fluid… Most of the owners here who faced any problems were the ones who changed the fluid unfortunately. Either the quantity was less or the fluid used was different than recommended or the service was not done properly … Follow what the dealership in your country suggests because they know best.
This seems to get-around the design defect: Keep 'em cool as many ways of reduced coolant/distilled water ratios, both filters and best cvt fluid each 30k, allow set overnight or allow 8 hours for full warm drain to obtain around 5.5 quarts if not flushing, seal all air leaks of radiator plenum (Time -consuming), keep radiators clean. Hello, please if you can help me with a question, I have a 2017 maxima, yesterday I went to buy transmission oil and they sold me "castrol transmax import multi-vehicle" which I already put in my vehicle, now I did this since I was checking the fluids of my car and I noticed that it did not even mark on the dipstick, now I just found out that my vehicle originally came only with the dipstick cover but not with the full dipstick because it has a new technology that uses less oil, without knowing I added 1/4 of a gallon of castrol oil, my question is: will I have any problem? What do you recommend me to do? It is worth mentioning that as you will know, the car has a cvt transmission and the castrol oil is not specifically cvt, thank you in advance for your help.
