I've been listening to Jerry Jeff for over 50 years now and heard this song done by many, none did it better than Jerry Jeff. AJ and the band do it justice. I love the song anywhere, anytime.

I always loved that Jerry Jeff Walker song. I remember when David Bromberg was Jerry Jeff's guitar player way back when. They tore it up. Noe this song is a staple in Bromberg's shows. AJ, you guys do a beautiful job with it.

I never liked this song when it came out on the radio in the 70's? But this arrangement is masterful. The rhythm and tempo are slightly altered, the strings mixing it up add gorgeous texture, the tight harmonies are perfect, the pure clear direct vocal of AJ Lee
soars. This version brings out the true pathos of this classic Americana song.
I'm guessing the version you didn't like so much was by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band...? Have to admit, it wasn't my favorite. "Over-produced", I would call it...
