Same here. I swear as far back as the mid-2000s, but I can't find any of those old vids anymore. It was pure gold then and is nothing if not purer now.
Found AJ Lee this morning and I'm stunned by her voice! Her rendition of Harvest Moon brought tears to my eyes for the beauty of her style! Need to hear much more from this talented woman!
So good .Compliments to the guys who sing in the chorus to lift the song beyond the ordinary . And of course the solo singing and sensitive instrumentation set it off beautifully .Pakipaki kia koutou !
A J's phrasing is just phenomenal and the rest of the band are so talented. Their sound balance is always so well put together, they must practice a lot to sound so impressively together. Fabulous.
Miracles sometimes come from odd places and circumstances Take, for instance, some of the best Bluegrass originating in the brown hills of California. These folks have gone from really good to really great and all those who preceeded them in the genre have to be extremely proud.
There's probably nothing I can say that hasn't already been said about how absolutely beautiful this song is sung by these amazing people. I wake up with this gorgeous music and I end my day with it so there is always a smile on my face!😊❤. I don't know what AJ and the band's life is like but if it's anything like the way they make me feel it must be spectacular.
It takes true talent to cover someone else’s song and own it in this way. Y’all have done this several times. Cumberland Blues, With Body and Soul, and Who Walks In are just a few to name. And Sully Tuttle, Wow! What a beautiful solo. It’s so perfect it sounds like it was composed. Also AJ’s voice is a blessing to anyone who is fortunate enough to have listened. Love the finger style guitar Scott. And Jan, you’re my favorite fiddler ever.
Simplicity and a melody that tugs at my heartstrings ...... and then there 's her haunting voice .......... it surpasses the original in my opinion ...I keep coming back to hear this fabulous performance and get mesmerized again ... and again ....
Hello, A J. I just heard a John Anderson song about the Seminole Wind. The song needed a mandolin. I thought you should do a version of this great song. Id like to hear it. Hope you can get this comment. Thanks, Bob
No shade to anyone, but since they added Scott Gates their trajectory has been elevated. He was the missing link. They all shine brightly. Jan's fiddle playing is so freakin' tasty...
I like what these guys do with this tune musically, but I don't understand why so many bands that cover this song go with the shortcut lyrics in verse two. I don't which coverer made the alternate lyrics up in the first place or why, but they make no sense. If he already crossed the mountains, he wouldn't need to walk out of the hollow. And he didn't ask some pretty girl to be his bride, he asked Tillie Helton. Why write her out of the narrative? It's not like it's a super-difficult verse to get right.
Pretty girl instead of Tellie Helton, and Cumberland Mountains instead of Katahrins Mountain. These small changes make the song easier understood by those less familiar with eastern Kentucky, Black Mountain and coal mining topography. He comes down the mountain to the holler and wants to take her away. Either way, a fabulous tune.
One of the greatest voices today, backed by some extremely talented musicians.
I’ve been listening to AJ since she was little and she has become an amazing talent. Her voice has always been pure gold.
From "Kids on Bluegrass " when she was 8 to this!
Me too.

The most beautiful lead vocal on this song that I have ever heard. Gorgeous fiddle and so much overall feeling. I love this.
Not as good as Patty Loveless.
Aj Lee sings like angels speak when on a mission to stir and comfort the heart.
@@rogerl-wd2xzhave to agree with you 100 percent
@@rogerl-wd2xzshe is very good and she does have a pure and beautiful voice
But no one will ever be as great as Patty Loveless singing this song
This band, these vocals, her vocals. Unbelievable.
Been watching AJ since she was 6 years old. Watched her when she was with the Tuttles. A remarkable talent.
Sully is one of those Tuttles.
AJ is a laid back Powerhouse. They will fill stadiums very soon !!
I think there isn't a day when I don't listen to Blue Summit. AJ Lee has the right to be proud of her band .their music speaks for itself

I have fallen in love with this gals voice. My new favorite.
The perfection of this has left me speechless.
Occasionally, something unexpectedly leaves a mark in your soul. The harmony in the last chorus picks me out of place, puts me somewhere old, deep.
Beautiful, haunting voice, wow.

Dang! Remember watching AJ and Molly playing together when they were 'tweens' at the Kings River Bluegrass Festival waaaaaaaay back in the day!
Such a beautiful voice.
What a Pure Soothing Voice!
Wow, just wow.

Wow. Tears are flowing down my cheeks. Nice work. Sweet vocals, harmonies, instruments.
I’ve been watching AJ since her younger days. In fact she is the one who peeked my interest in bluegrass❤️‼️
you're using the wrong 'peek' it's pique.

Scott Gates!!! We miss you in socal! This is beautiful though.
These guys and their arrangements are so wonderful. Although she didn’t write this, AJ is a phenomenal songwriter.
Just so damn good. It made me cry.
Great version . A new favourite AJ track😎
Beautiful version. Glad I found it.
You've taken me back to BLUEGRASS AGAIN and I couldn't be more grateful...
Don't ever leaves you ❤
I have watched A.J grow and she certainly nailed it here. Beautiful! 🎶👏
Well done! Another great young group…future of bluegrass is in good hands.

Haunting lyrics. Love, love, love AJ's voice.
She's amazing..This song is haunting.Patty Loveless does it great too..My family grew up in Harlen..Hard life..STOP burning coal..🔥👍
Patty did it first and best.
So many great Bluegrass singers come from Pike County Ky..bless them❤
still superb

I've been listening to AJ and Blue Summit for a while now but the quality of this production and in particular the vocal quality, tops everything
Good god
brilliant absolutely nailed it - A J Lee is one special talent and the harmonies are quality
Fire!
I hope Darrell has heard this. Perfection.
AJ has a voice of pure honey.
Keep playing this one guys, loved it at Grey Fox, cant get enough!
Heard this at Merlefest and just had to find it!
Awesome, wow, smooth! Beautiful voice and Awesome musicians.
Young lady God bless you hot mandolin
This was awesome. Like this stripped down version as much as the iconic Patty Loveless recording.
That's an amazing and haunting performance!
Overall stunning but this Lady is a star
Just saw they are coming an hour away from me for a free show, bet your ass I'm going!
Great players!! Awesome!!!
Wonderful voice.
Y'all got it 😊, #1.

Has a more beautiful or heartbreaking American ballad ever been written?
Do I hear a little Dave Rawlings in Sully's solo? (By a little I mean a lot)
I was this many years old when I found out there were two AJ Lees.
I wish I was from Kentucky...
But i am from Queensland, Australia. And that's as close as it gets...
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love the pure ribbon mic setup. Would love to know what preamp was used for these AEAs.
AJ and a song from Justified - like peanut butter & chocolate - two great things together
This is incredible. Masterful vocal performance. Someone please tell me who that fiddle player is, too.
Jan Purat. May have the spelling wrong. He’s from Berkley, Ca. He’s my favorite fiddler. Every time he solos, he nails it.
@@NoraBrown-y9fThanks so much! You are right -- has a great tone as well.
Jan Purat
Sully !
Darrell Scott's song is not an easy one to sing but she makes a fine fist of it here with support from very talented musicians.
🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😮
Both grandfathers worked in the coal mines. The 1 I loved most died of “black lung” at 54.
👍
"....walked down Katahrin Mountain and asked Tillie Helton(actual person) to be his bride." Fixed it for you.
Another great performance. I am hearing a little bit of athsma rasp and breathiness in AJ's singing. Take care of that amazing voice.👏👏👏
❤❤❤❤😂 1:54 1:57
Its hard to beat Patty Loveless' version but AJ did the song justice for sure. Great job.
WELL DONE . BUT WHAT DOES THE LAST LINE MEAN ' YOU SPEND YOUR LIFE DIGGIN COAL FROM THE BOTTOM OF YOUR GRAVE ' ?
Coal miners die from black lung ,or the get caught in a collapsed mine shaft ether way can lead to a short life.
Raylan + Boyd, hillbilly Shakespeare at it's finest...🤝
hello sugar really nice video but i'm still waiting for that song by Eve Christop motion devotion
It's hard to beat Patty Loveless on this. I am definitely biased. But, AJ did a great cover, as usual..
