The best tutorial I have seen on this vehicle. Thank you so much.

Clean rig! Thanks for the walkthrough! I have the exact setup, but mine has 150k miles and still running tight. Previous owner always ran conventional, any concerns going to full synthetic at this point?

Thanks. I picked it up when it had ~ 70k miles. I don't know what was used in it before (conventional or synthetic), but all of my oil changes have been with synthetic. I have used synthetic oil from Walmart brand (Supertech), Royal Purple, and Castroil (20,000 mile version). I only use 5W-30 (according to the manual), and I change the oil every ~5,000 miles (likely overkill, I know). I'm just trying to keep the engine in the best condition. I really like the Suburban/Yukon XL! I'd really like to get a '91 Suburban to play with.
I've never had a problem with full synthetic even though I did not know what was used in the vehicle before. I have heard about issues with synthetic oil after using conventional, but I don't know the accuracy of any of that information. All I know is that I have not had problems. Mine remains tight with no leaks and the oil is really clean in-between oil changes. I've always thought the most important aspect of maintenance weather you use conventional or synthetic is changing the oil regularly. Too long between change intervals is not good. It's likely that oil manufacturers may have some information on things to be aware of if you change from conventional to synthetic. I'd check their websites for information.
I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching and commenting!
