    I’m currently running a 32” bar on my 372xp Xtork right now with skip chain. I’m perfectly happy with that combination, ESPECIALLY since I’ve learned to tune the carb up MUCH better than 99.99% of any saw dealers in MY state, but I don’t live in saw country either. But that’s ok, it’s just helped me to become better at certain aspects of the HOBBY, because in my circumstances that’s exactly what it is. 😊

    I base my bar on the size of tree stumps we will be working with. Our Son likes a 28" lite bar on his ported 390xp I run a 32" on mine. We only run 3/8 full chisel skip tooth chain but really it's depending on what you like. I have a buddy who only runs 24" bars on his powerheads because that's what he is used to and likes .
    We own our own logging company and I enjoy your videos so who cares what the weekend warriors have to say.

    Took me yrs to realize that longer bars are where it’s at. We cut hardwood up here in the northeast and most people run 16-20 inch bars on 70+cc saws. I went to 24’s and now moving up to 28’s cause I find myself still bending over too much with my bad back and 24’s.

    I run 32" bars on all of my Stihl Ms 462's and I'm just a firewood guy. The longer bar allows you to stand up more and not bend over so much. Way better than a shorter bar. Even the 28" bars are short enough causing you to bend over too much.

  • @finniganshomestead2956
    @finniganshomestead2956 2 года назад

    I am 6'4" and use a 36" Tsumura light bar on my 661. I find it way easier to use a largish saw with a long bar and stand up straight when bucking than being bent over with a lighter saw with a short bar. I fell and cut excessively hardwood. Some of the trees on my property I still have to cut from both sides as they exceed the bar length. My saw balances the same with this light bar as it would with a 25" OEM Stihl bar. Its not nose heavy and stays level when held with one hand at the handle bar. That takes any guess work out of the falling cuts.

    As a kid I used to use the one (carpentry ????erother ) angle set which had a 45* angle end worked well for cleaning the ?track is it out.
    With the headed sap on the bottom? side of the bar is that not penning over?
    I most often found Alder good to split. Arbutus HARD! to split. Fir usually had knots and hemlock was well don't ask. errrrrrr The hyd splitter made it easy.

  • @edwardcarberry1095
    @edwardcarberry1095 2 года назад

    I have always tried to keep the trees off of the ground , when dragging them lift the loader up high enough so that only the one end is on the ground. A digging bar or PeeVee to move roll them. I used to be able to feel the other side of the log, not enough now for that.
    I cut for a friend a few years ago they like to drag the trees on the ground, had to sharpen the teeth a LOT! Little wonder why there saws weren't being used.
    When I was young I would lift up on the bar underneath when that cutting was to be done. Other then that just use the dogs.

I always mark my sale stuff as well why guess it when it only takes ya a couple minutes right. Stand up and buck is just a term a lot of us people say! I used to have a 32" on my 064 but i kept dragging the tip in the dirt when I stood up, im just a short guy at 5'6" so I run 28" on most every saw I have. For all you people that come here to whine about something you have too damn much time on your hands offer some helpful advice or just take it somewhere else.
