It's the ultimate tease, basically saying “you can't do this unless you REALLY want to”. There's no reason to ever take 100 ice Pikmin into one of these places to freeze everything, yet you can do it anyways. They could’ve easily gone “water/mud bodies too big can’t be frozen” yet they decided not to implement any restrictions
Y'know looking at it now, it's really odd how tossing a big pile of ice pikmins at one spot is enough to freeze over a whole, wide body of water. I just had a thought... It would have made far more sense (and have been far more interesting gameplay-wise) if throwing a single ice pikmin in water froze its surface in a set radius, so that it can be walked upon, and intersecting separate frozen surfaces merges them. It probably wouldn't have been too hard to program, but maybe it wouldn't have interacted well with the pathfinding.
@@SuperShesh2 Couldn't they turn "Active" Ice Pikmin into temporary nodes, connect the nodes of the Ice platforms that merged together, and create an algorithm that finds the Ideal path?
