Yes, it's confirmed that pikmin 3 happens after pikmin 4. This is through dialouge through the Koppaites, and game dialouge. Dialouge says something about "the population going up on koppai, and if it continues there will be a food crisis". So it's basically confirmed in the game.
This has to be an alternate timeline, though, since the Koppaites independently discovered PNF-404 using their space drones at the beginning of Pikmin 3. If Pikmin 4 had happened earlier on the same timeline and there had already been Koppaites there, they would've already known PNF-404 to have exactly what they're after and they probably would've cultivated seeds from it before they were in danger of starving, which they say isn't an issue yet in Pikmin 4.
Olimar mention something he should ask Britanny. So it obviously happens after Pikmin 1. And you don't save an entire planet with a dozens of fruits...

@@Teinve reused material is not a bad thing at all. sometimes assets, level design decisions, and mechanics don't need to be improved upon or replaced. if every asset and every mechanic is redesigned from the ground up, sequels take like three times as long. like, i'm sure they didn't make all-new animations for the pikmin walking around. dunno if you've ever played the dark souls games, but they reuse stuff all the time. there are animations from dark souls 1 that are used in elden ring, which came out nearly a decade later, and all of those games are excellent and recieve near universal praise

Nintendo put so much love into the soundtrack! Not only are there cute references like the music boxes, it's the most dynamic it has ever been. Every area and dungeon has at least 10 different versions. Even some enemies and bosses have their own themes.
From what I've noticed, the music boxes will actually speed up or slow down depending on how fast it's being carried I noticed this when picking up the Lullaby one with whites and realised that it was playing at a faster tempo, so i would presume carrying it with purples would slow it down instead
Here are some other cool things I noticed: If you make yourself look like any of the Castaways, They'll make a comment about how you look like Twins, each with unique dialogue. On the topic of Castaways, Talking to them while playing as Oatchi also has unique dialogue (I believe Olimar talks about his dog Bulbie as well). Not only does the room you first fight the Emperor Bulblax ment to be a look like the room you first fight him in Pikmin 2, The Treasure you find there also references the treasure you'd find in the same spot (Being the Gyoroid). In Olimars Field Log, Not only does he mention his "Bad Dream" where he perishes and the Pikmin put him in the Onion, he also Mentions he had a dream that one of his Colleagues put them in debt by eating there Shipment, A reference to how Louie ate the Golden Pikpik Carrots in Pikmin 2 and started the whole story (In fact Louie says in his Log that he really wants to eat some Golden Pikpik carrots, and he's just waiting for the right job). Now I might be crazy, but I believe Emperor Bulblaxes actually take more damage from Purple Pikmin then any other enemy, which is most likely a reference to how the Emperor Bulblax was an absolute Joke in Pikmin 2 because of Purples. And last but not least, I heard that if you collect every Treasure, the final value will end in 128, most likely a reference to Mario 128, a showcase on the Game Cubes software that would eventually become Pikmin, but I cannot confirm if it's true.
Aren’t they taking more damage since purples just deal more damage in general? I think they have a 2x damage multiplier, while red have 1.5 and winged have 0.5.
As for the Emperor Bulblax one, each enemy has a special value for how many Purple Pikmin stomps are needed to kill it. That’s how tankier enemies like the dweevils die in one hit from purples. So it may be possible that they coded the emperor to take far less stomps to kill then average for his health.
I doubt the Mario 128 thing because that game didn’t really become Pikmin iirc. It was just Miyamoto making up a cute story (sane with the ‘ants in the backyard’ thing)

At least for China, the terms for position names are read in the Japanese reading of the Chinese characters, so they are essentially the same.
I was once working on a Pikmin 2 fan game (Which I've since abandoned),and I only put 1 song in the game: Awakening Woods I've listened to that song for hours on end, to the point it's engrained in my memory, and I'll randomly hum it at times, and did it quite a bit while playing 4 So the first time my Pikmin began singing it, I was already humming it, and it seemed as if the Pikmin read my mind.

When the game dropped Submerged Castle on me - layout, music and exclusive blue - I got so scared. And I rushed through the levels and funnily enough, only encountered Water Wraith at the boss arena

Your timeline placement makes sense. It would help explain why Olimar seemingly had no memory of how Louie betrayed him in the last 3 games. Also, did you notice Olimar’s journal entry, can’t remember which number off the top of my head but it says “I had a bad dream in which the Hocotate Freight Company went bankrupt due to one employee” referencing the later events in the Pikmin series. The drawing in the journal even has emphasis on Louie being the cause.
The log makes it pretty clear that Olimar is referring to the idea that Louie ate the golden pikpik carrots being preposterous, because he has no idea that it actually happened. Not the concept of debt. When he says "this is why I never take on debt", he doesn't say "I've never taken on debt ever". It's pretty clear he means "willingly", because every time he takes on company debt, he does it because he was commanded to, and not because he wants to. Plus, *he's recounting a dream*, of course the details are going to be vague.

Nintendo put so much love into the soundtrack! Not only are there cute references like the music boxes, it's the most dynamic it has ever been. Every area and dungeon has at least 10 different versions. Even some enemies and bosses have their own themes.
From what I've noticed, the music boxes will actually speed up or slow down depending on how fast it's being carried
I noticed this when picking up the Lullaby one with whites and realised that it was playing at a faster tempo, so i would presume carrying it with purples would slow it down instead
Here are some other cool things I noticed:
If you make yourself look like any of the Castaways, They'll make a comment about how you look like Twins, each with unique dialogue.
On the topic of Castaways, Talking to them while playing as Oatchi also has unique dialogue (I believe Olimar talks about his dog Bulbie as well).
Not only does the room you first fight the Emperor Bulblax ment to be a look like the room you first fight him in Pikmin 2, The Treasure you find there also references the treasure you'd find in the same spot (Being the Gyoroid).
In Olimars Field Log, Not only does he mention his "Bad Dream" where he perishes and the Pikmin put him in the Onion, he also Mentions he had a dream that one of his Colleagues put them in debt by eating there Shipment, A reference to how Louie ate the Golden Pikpik Carrots in Pikmin 2 and started the whole story (In fact Louie says in his Log that he really wants to eat some Golden Pikpik carrots, and he's just waiting for the right job).
Now I might be crazy, but I believe Emperor Bulblaxes actually take more damage from Purple Pikmin then any other enemy, which is most likely a reference to how the Emperor Bulblax was an absolute Joke in Pikmin 2 because of Purples.
And last but not least, I heard that if you collect every Treasure, the final value will end in 128, most likely a reference to Mario 128, a showcase on the Game Cubes software that would eventually become Pikmin, but I cannot confirm if it's true.
Aren’t they taking more damage since purples just deal more damage in general? I think they have a 2x damage multiplier, while red have 1.5 and winged have 0.5.
As for the Emperor Bulblax one, each enemy has a special value for how many Purple Pikmin stomps are needed to kill it. That’s how tankier enemies like the dweevils die in one hit from purples.
So it may be possible that they coded the emperor to take far less stomps to kill then average for his health.
I doubt the Mario 128 thing because that game didn’t really become Pikmin iirc. It was just Miyamoto making up a cute story (sane with the ‘ants in the backyard’ thing)

One of those last 2 songs sounds like the post credits Pikmin Enemies theme from Pikmin 1. Where after beating the game your treated to a little cinematic of every monster found in Pikmin 1, including the Smokey Progg, even if you never broke the egg in Distant Spring.

@@safebox36 I haven't watched the show, but probably the case for Aggretsuko Ton (トン部長 buchō) was either a mistranslation or being sarcastic about his position. A head of a department, 部長、is usually never called as a Daitōryō.
In the case of political leaders, it is often the case that there is a mismatch between English, Japanese, and the local language.
At least for China, the terms for position names are read in the Japanese reading of the Chinese characters, so they are essentially the same.

A completely missed part of the musical boxes is that the faster your pikmin move the faster the music box goes. Give it a try next time you play!

My first pikmin game was pikmin 3 and I was really little so hearing it’s menu theme in pikmin 4 made me really nostalgic cause it was like playing pikmin 3 for the first time, again
Another thing: The Interstellar radio found by olimar in the hero's hideaway is a white recolor of the Analog Computer.
The actual interstellar radio doesnt appear in game at all strangely- not even on the side of the completed dolphin - only the Guard Satellite is in its corresponding side panel. I wonder why they did this?

I *want* to disagree with you but you're kinda right. There's a lot of work put into the soundtrack, it's extremely cohesive and they have so many variants...but MAN, they aren't catchy or even memorable. BoTW soundtrack all over again

When the game dropped Submerged Castle on me - layout, music and exclusive blue - I got so scared. And I rushed through the levels and funnily enough, only encountered Water Wraith at the boss arena

Also, did you notice Olimar’s journal entry, can’t remember which number off the top of my head but it says “I had a bad dream in which the Hocotate Freight Company went bankrupt due to one employee” referencing the later events in the Pikmin series. The drawing in the journal even has emphasis on Louie being the cause.
The log makes it pretty clear that Olimar is referring to the idea that Louie ate the golden pikpik carrots being preposterous, because he has no idea that it actually happened. Not the concept of debt. When he says "this is why I never take on debt", he doesn't say "I've never taken on debt ever". It's pretty clear he means "willingly", because every time he takes on company debt, he does it because he was commanded to, and not because he wants to. Plus, *he's recounting a dream*, of course the details are going to be vague.

there is another easter egg, at least I consider it one, byu collecting all instruments you get the army horn that allows to line up your pikmin for them to interact, this mechanic is from the first 2 games and I am definitely not salty that I had to go through the entire game before unlocking this
