The time many of you have been waiting and asking for is finally here! Time now for the Pikmin Lost Bits video!
Hey guys, welcome to LOST BITS! Where I will cover unused, unreleased and unseen things in various games! In this video we're checking out the first entry in the Pikmin series! Pikmin has a bunch of cut content from unused textures, models and even unused test areas! There's also a bunch of neato debugging stuff!

Fun fact: The "I am so very tired" log actually appears in game in Pikmin 4 as an Easter egg of sort, and the text is also completely red instead of the normal black color. It is by far the creepiest log in Pikmin 4 lol.

You can get im so very tired in pikmin1 switch version. By ending the day on the impact site over and over again untill day 30
Also, though this text *does* get used in the game, Olimar has a series of 27 logs that only appear if a player continuously goes to the first level, pauses, then presses "Go to Sunset", so most players are likely unaware that they exist.
I won't include all of them, but some noteworthy ones include him mentioning things like "If only I could be a Pikmin... NO!!! I must not think such thoughts!" referencing the game's bad ending, as well as the short final entry from this list that simply says:
"I don't have much to write today... When I inspected the Onion's legs, I saw that they were covered by tiny little hairs.
It was kind of disturbing."

The colors at the top spell out what I assume are texture types (from left to right): sand, rock, grass, tree, sludge, water, hole
I thought brown (つち/土) was more like dirt or soil. And tan (き/木) can mean wood or tree. In this context it could be either.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the Ramune bottles probably had a function similar to how they appear in the Pikmin Short Movies. I would assume, that they were meant to be blown up with a bomb-rock in order to collect the marble inside which would serve as an optional collectible. Not necessary for completion, but Olimar would probably mention how he'd give it to his son/daughter as a souvenir. Miyamoto has a history of reusing seemingly completely forgotten ideas, and he worked on both Pikmin 1, and the Pikmin shorts.
It's also possible that if not the Marble, the bottle cap could have doubled as an optional collectable, as that's what he brought back in the opening cutscene to Pikmin 2, (albeit a different bottle cap type obviously.)
@@Robbie_Haruna I'd say it was probably the marble, it is or at least was common for kids to break the ramune bottle after they were done to get the marble out.
Funnily enough, that "i am so very tired" log returns in pikmin 4 as log entry #73, in which its untitled
It looks like those beta key doors must have been what inspired the cave keys in the sequel

They actually _can_ fly, as adults. The adult form is actually not that far off from the cute little fly thing the Usuba looks like, though they're much more defenseless than the alleged large health pool would imply.
I think the Mario model was used for scale... Also I believe the unused monologues talking about leaving the planet, the second one was probably what was meant to be displayed when day 30 passes and Olimar has at least the 25 required ship parts,
I'm glad you did this. There's a lot of unused stuff in the Pikmin and, and whi know how much more used things there are in Pikmin 3 Deluxe.

Dude! The unused "I'm so very tired l" log got used in pikmin 4, and it's creepy.
you should cover any of the sims games! (esp the sims 2) they have sm cut content, unused and hidden data etc. :)

Pikmin is literally my favorite Nintendo series thank you so much for making this.
The reason Mario is in the files, is probably the fact at one of nintendos shows, they tried to show the capability of the gamecube. Which in that presentation they showed a million Mario’s, and that eventually sprouted in to Pikmin!
I wonder if people will find a scrapped Louie final boss in pikmin 2...
Louie is kinda the final boss of Pikmin 2, as his "sales pitch" given by the ship says he was controlling the Titan Dweevil. therefore Louie is indirectly the final boss Pikmin 2

the key/door mechanic was probably part of a puzzle that got removed. the creator said he wanted the game to feel more like a world than a game and remkved most of the puzzles

That moon texture was probably an early version of the time, meaning at some point you would be able to explore at night, thus showing the texture instead of a sun. My guess was it never came into the final game since you end the day at the evening of the game, or dusk
Usuba was probably gonna be a miniboss or a regular boss at some point, hence why it would spawn smoky proggs and have so much health
All Pikmin were originally planned to carry Bomb Rocks, but near the end of development, the Devs realized that the yellow bois needed a bit of a buff, making them the only ones to carry the object

Pikmin 3 did have Reds and Blues able to use Bomb Rocks, so maybe the developers decided to use that cut content. Yellows were the least used in 1, then the second most valuable type behind Purples in 2, and back to least used in 3 due to electrical hazards no longer being instakil

Actually, there is ONE ramune bottle in the game. It's right by the wollywogs and anti-dioxin filter in a little pond in the southwest of the Forest Navel!

As someone who grew up with the pikmin franchise, it was so interesting to look at all the unused content!! (Although that flying antlion,,, that scares me to think about)
I'd absolutely love to see the rest of the pikmin games get torn to bits!

Huh no Regional differences in this video. When you do Pikmin 2, you’ll have to include regional differences because there’s a lot.
I think the reason why the other colors of pikmin are not in the model viewer is because all of the pikmin including olimar probably have the same animations

Pikmin was a lost bit for a while when it disappeared from the eShop. It's a found bit now however, so you couldn't include it.

iwagen probably made bomb rocks for some sort of puzzle in which you needed a lot, looks like it was designed for the distant spring but maybe it was used elsewhere

10:30 the cutting room floor has a page with info about the files including their respective md5 checksum and just search the md5 checksum, download and play. I did it like this and I got no viruses
