We all know Rico would be immune to the Brain Bug as his cranium is filled with nothing but propaganda and catchphrases.
Lmao that's a good one.
Come you apes, want to live forever. So lame
the brain bug would join federation and betray bugs after sucking his brain
That is the perfect comment for someone showing the Ukrainian and EU flag!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@axelscrivener9711ofc you got political
I love it how the wounds made by the bugs never let anybody die from blood loss
Yeah I love that Carmen gets her shoulder obliterated and 5m later has both her arms around Johnny and Carl with a big grin on her face... ruined the realism of the movie for me 🤣
The atmosphere of the planet make everthing heal fast. That’s why the man still alive when the bug stab his skull and suck out the brain.
@@sturycroft 'big smile' most likely
"Say, Carmen, what happened to Zander?"
"Never mind him, they sucked his brains out" 😃
Yeah
@@AryanWirawan Where the hell did you pull that from?
Actually, the CGI stands up really well today.
Stellar VFX. I think it helps that crustacean type textures were easier to look realistic then. They were still struggling with elements like hair but there’s little to no need for that in this movie
@@sturycroft - ah, well, in all fairness, they were doing something ‘hard’ and angular with a matte texture, so although it was easy to create I suppose, but I maintain it still looks really good by today’s standards.
No Wait! Isn't that practical effects?! I don't think they used CGI that extensively back then as technology was not that evolved.
The wide shots are computer generated, the close-ups are models and animatronics.
Bought this on 4k and It looks great for today's standards
You can tell that the bug did have some food for thought.
And some thoughts for food 💭
underrated
I swear some 90s and 2000s FX are better than today's
That's because most of today's try to look all mystical and supernatural (see star wars sequels)
Practical effects, means the actors actually get to see what they're freaking out about. Now it'd be a green screen room and the brain bug would be some guy in a green suit with some dumb mask on for the actors to get their sight lines right.
mcu moment
so much more enjoyable tbh... i cant keep up with todays movies
Back when movies got made with passion behind it. Now its only just to cash in. Nothing else behind it
I still get chills of Xander's face when the Brain Bug is finishing eating his brains
yeah,me too
it almost looks like how paul's face looked while he was being eaten alive by the blob

It's a pretty great movie. Some of the best special effects of its time
yyeah it was brain numbing

Looking at that 90's Battlestar Galactica foam set, it very much does.
Always had a huge problem with her being so energetic after being skewered like that
I knew a guy who sliced his foot open jumping back from a rattlesnake looking for scrap metal. Legit did not notice until 10 minutes later. He thought he just sprained it at first.
Sometimes our brain is better at prioritizing I guess lol.
@@blackwoodsecurity531 Ok, granted. But slicing a foot open compared to Carmen here surviving through plot armor.
She's got a giant hole in her shoulder above her heart. I think everybody would notice after 10 minutes. XD
@Zed2205 she’s be dead in 15 mins tops, especially with it moving her around like that. More likely mere minutes would be unconscious
@@rockstar450 .. It's a movie.
It's Ibanez. She's crazy.
Lol that arachnid at 2:17 yelling at her instead of attacking saying no human! Bad! Bad! Look what you did!
I still freak out from how these bugs move realistically
you have not lived till you had your brains sucked out of your head by a brain eating bug dude it's an experience to die for🤣
For like five years after watching this movie for the first time, this scene and Denise Richards lived in my head rent-free.
Watch Wild Things 😜 that will help haha
she still lives rent free in my head
Same. Literally nightmares as a child. Don’t even remember how I got to watch this lol 😂
@@Deadeye401eww what’s that fat one and what are those things
I've never been able to look at a pu33y without seeing the brain bug 😂
It wouldn't be a Paul Verhoeven movie if they didn't have one of the main characters die a very gratuitous and above all extremely painful demise.
The human brain contains no pain receptors. He was unconscious within seconds.
@@epaminon6196 could have fooled me
Might not be painful, but definitely brutal. Especially in front of the woman he cared for, terrible way to die.
@@epaminon6196the fear and panick of getting the top of your head stabbed by an alien glob insect couldn’t have been pleasent.
The cameraman in that kind of situations is never afraid and always chilling ...
Of course, the camera man is a being present across all realities, how would he feel fear if he could never die?
@@KuroNvi Funnily, the camera man of the first arrival on the Bugs planet died LOL.
@@theoneitself He was an imposter, he was a fake.
The real camera man is invisible.

Respect for Zander! He died in a very heroic way
Bollywood!
Dieded!
Watch where the bug warrior stabbed him...he prefered a heroic death.
He died with his head up
Scared the skeleton out of me as a child.
Dam... Turned xander into the Scream Mask
well also looked like how paul's face looked as he was being digested alive by the blob
@@Joshuajacobson95 LOL HE SURE DID. HE LOOKED LIKE PAUL MEG'S BF FROM THE MOVIE LOL
This was the most gruesome scene in the movie.
Xander probably didn’t feel pain for Long. Dude probably was dead seconds after the thing started sucking. The human brain isn’t meant to operate under those conditions. His whole mental process probably shut down, and those gasps and gargles were just his nerves going nuts, witch happens in sudden deaths
@@harveyanimations8974…regardless, it’s still definitely the most gruesome scene lol 😂
@@archipelago93 gruesome, for sure
@@harveyanimations8974 "The human brain isn't meant to operate under those conditions."

@@SStupendous what no I’m not a scientist it’s just common sense
I thought creatures in this movie look so realistic. Practical effects should be used more today.
Getting harpooned like that shouldn't give you any chance to be mobile.
True, you would die instantly if it hit your brain
How in the hell is she still functioning with a wound that massive in her shoulder? Obliterated clavicle, muscle and tendon/ ligament damage, nerve damage, shock and massive blood loss. That is a fatal wound BIG TIME.
She even hold a rifle with two hands in the next scene.
It's a film; amazing things happen in these worlds.
She would have been dead before Xander
The big fat artery that runs through there would be done. Super fatal wound. But PLOT ARMOR
Cool. Nobody cares
1:30 - 1:54 Remember! Service guarantees citizenship!
Starship Troopers came out when I was born, and I watched it when I was like. 5. This is literally the only scene I remember from the movie, the vibes I got was cool silly sci-fi movie up until this point where it suddenly got really serious (listen, I was 5).
Poor Zander, that's only kind of sucking he got that day.
2021 and this scene still epic
HOw did the Brain Bug not get indigestion from eating Xander's ego?
wrgg
He had it coming. Let's be real. We wanted to see him go the moment he went after Carmen.
Zander went out hard though. Regardless.
Slick
I think Zander sacrificed himself by giving Carmen the knife because he realized that she was still in love with Rico. Rico was coming to rescue them and Zander didn't want to see the woman he loved with another man. That's why he preferred to die
Maybe not the intention, but a good way to interpret it. Either that, or Zander wanted to give Carmen a combative edge in the event anything happens to him first.
Dude didn't want to get NTR'd
Did make me think were his final words to the bug talking about Rico or any other person?
Or he was just simping.
On the other hand, he wasn't that bright to begin with. Sacrificing his life for that jezebel.
The bug enjoyed that food for sure
I had a similar experience, recently. I had bit into an ice cream sandwich with all of my teeth. And, OH MY GOD, it was painful. I imagine this Zander character didn't even experience half of the pain that I had been in.
Ouch! I know that hurt. My lips got stuck to an ice cream and some of the skin on my lips peeled off.
How is that a similar experience to getting your brains sucked out💀
La primera vez que vi esa escena me impacto bastante. Envejeció muy bien esta pelicula.
FINALLY. I KNEW IT WASN’T MY IMAGINATION AND I DIDN’T JUST IMAGINE SEEING SUCH A SCENE IN MY CHILDHOOD. You have no idea how long I’ve been looking for this and how many movie worm creatures I’ve seen while trying to figure out how I should phrase the query to find this
SAME I Remeber seeing this particular scene when I was like 8 and been looking for this for yearsssss
you are not alone
Brother help me out them. I remember seeing a movie scene in childhood. There was a jumping man, reminds me of "The mask actor". His gets stomach operation then he jumps again. Maybe he wears red type formal clothes
And this is why I'm so terrified of assassin bugs.
I used to think Zander could be saved, if they had got there a bit quicker and pulled the tube out...
I was too young for this movie 😂😂
They are gifts, and we do our best to honor them!
That actor really sold it too
One of the greatest movie scenes ever. His face after being probed of his brain 🧠
He must have lost his mind from the pain.
I think it sucked his whole body through his brain
Internal organs n all
I'm pretty sure he was feeling everybit of it for a few moments before he slipped into death
That was horrifying! Very realistic looking! 😱
Extremely horrifying 😨
Film de fou ...@@cd9245
It’s funny how the bugs are dependent on just that one bug and couldn’t keep it more secure in their colony. It seemed bound to happen and the brain bug should have planned ahead of it with all of its acquired knowledge
Zander was hated during the whole movie. Always like a secondary antagonist for Rico. But then he does this at the end and really completes a great character arc
Bro the vfx is still so realistic 26 years later
My brain hurts after that 🤣
I guess the bug wanted to get smarter so that’s why it had a brain smoothie 😂
His first few groans right after the suction began sounds like he is in ecstasy.
When you say to her just the tip baby I promise 😂😆

I had 10 years old wen I seeded that movie. All memories has backing now lol.

Must've had a headache after that. Get that man some aspirin!
Xander was defiant to the end
This movie was playing in my dad's living room when my working life just started at 16
2:17 " Bad human, bad! Very naughty!
All these years later and this movie is still fkin awesome
How does the CGI still look so good? Some modern CGI doesn’t even look this good 😮
Because it wasn't CGI, those were traditional effects using puppets and stuff.
My favorite scene.
Well that's a ......no brainer 🤣
Brains bug starts sucking out Rico’s brain, starts putting it back a few seconds later.
The cgi is insane considering how old this film is
Xander probably didn’t feel pain for any more than a second. His thought process would have been shut down after like 40 percent of his brain was gone, and that brain bug worked quick. Probably a massive migraine, then death.
Never gets old
This scene used to gross me out as a kid and it still does 😂🤢
