I really wish the second and third starship trooper movies were as good as the first
Right
The second movie wasn’t bad at all in my opinion. The general effects were good and the cgi wasn’t over used. The 3rd movie was a let down but i still liked the action.
@@whatthepfpsays4234 bruh the second movie was probably the worst, did you see the affects of the gun fire? it was literally just flashing lights lol
Really hard to improve upon a awesome movie. That's usually the curse of sequels, never reaching the same heights as their predecessors
Coz it wasn't made by the same team. That's why 2nd and 3rd were so bad. But I'm glad rhe cg movies made it good again
The guns are so ridiculously big that they look to be an actual hindrance.
Meanwhile in the Novel those large suits where the common Mobile Infantry nicknamed Apes for their long gun arms
@@senritsujumpsuit6021 Sky Marshal: oi! blame the CGI team, not me!
If memory serves those props are AKs in plastic shells
i agree
I love MK-1 Morita Rifle in ST1
it's a shame how badly this series was handled.
What series? There is only one starship troopers movie
@@alexanderangelkov6338 I thought there was a whole bunch of them?
Either way, they were meant to silly and make fun of the military.
i think there's 3 or 4 official ones, and then 2 or 3 animated ones that follow the book's style more@@l337pwnage
@@l337pwnagelook up the definition of the word “sarcasm”
@@l337pwnage it even has a anime movie. A 2 animated movies + series (which is closer to the books because it even has Skinnys or what they where called). And 3 movies and even a table top game
Literally could not have had worse defenses
agreed. I'm no genius when it comes to war tactics but trenches and bunkers so close and tight together doesn't sound good against a close range bug swarm army. their defense should have at least been spread out more.
@@juliangonzales3490 neither are trenches that allow your enemy to move above you, with only a single fence to keep them out. Animals as large as arachnids would be unable to fit through narrower passages or even just a grid of polls spaced shoulder width apart
Not as worse as those effects.
It’s not a worse defense sky Marshall anoake made a deal with the god bug and disabled the fence dumbo
Spoilers! Someone turned off all of the base's defenses.
I love how despite the fact Carmen had been ahead of Rico in ranks all through ST1 by the end of the ST franchise he was a General and she was still a Captain.
Maybe she wanted to stay a captain so she could still serve on ships?
yeah CARMEN was a two faced biotch vs DITZ....imho :)
@@Hunt8rJob That makes sense, there are military personnel that do prefer whatever position they are in for various reasons. For example, I bet a fair amount would not like to be promoted to a position that has them be behind a desk more than anything.
@@welkingunther5417 Bingo. All of the veterans I know either declined promotion or retired when presented with the opportunity to become a general since that job is entirely administrative and the promoted person can no longer perform whatever their previous task was.
@@monicamattox72 she choose her career and knew it wouldn't work, how is that two faced? In the first movie we already saw that type of behaviour in the beginning.
as many flaws this movie had, one cannot deny how badass Rico was. proved he was battle-hardened after all those years of service. despite the overwhelming numbers he managed his squad well and even managed to push them back, where others simply ran.
part 1 has better and realistic effects than part 3😅
The first one had five times the budget, and that's even without adjusting for 11 years of price growth/inflation. The first film was a full on A-movie blockbuster, one of the most expensive movies shot. It also relied heavily on models and practical effects, with CGI only used where needed.
The first movie was S tier by comparison.
2:00-How are ya'll gonna get snitched on by a bug? XD
Even the bugs got grenades but these highly advanced troops don't...
The Troopers do though
The troopers do but they don't use them enough
The bugs in this one are a little scarier because they are showing an evolution in tactics. Bomb bugs, scorpions, 1 lethal strike vs ripping apart people like in the first movie.
And a general who was more worthless for his rank than the Lt. in the second movie, the one with glasses.
Well tbf that Lt. was a psychic that was getting ptsd style visions constantly. So I wouldn’t expect him to fight well at all.
@@kelvinwong1591 it was less that, and more he thought his rank was good enough, instead of being a better leader.
@@emperorconstantine1.361 True, in Starship Troopers all of them higher ranked officers have a big ego to the point it’s a competition between them all to see who gets a promotion over the other.
Also, bugs now are more compact and have thicker carapace relative to their body size. Which makes them more efficient in open field combat as they can outmanoeuvre human troops faster.
Not to mention the control bugs those things give me the shivers
Nov. 19, 2021----In mass attacks like this in close quarters, a flame thrower should work very well. Which is why I'll be using one in one of my 1/35 scale zombie/apocalypse dioramas.
You would would die rather quickly.
The only trouble with a flammerthrower is that the target needs to burn for a bit since with Zombies they are dead so they won't thrash around like a normal living creature would.
they take too long to die; I would prefer explosives
Really set zombies on fire?
It won't work on arachnids, they move too fast
Judging from the wimpy rifles they're using, here it's time to borrow some pulse rifles from the colonial marines.
You need Gauss Rifle from Starcraft Marines to be effective
Those are Morita Mk5's. Most advanced energy charged gas powered rifle they have.
They got stingy with the ammo and Tiger bugs are more damage resistant than standard warrior bugs.
The Morita mk1 from the first movie has a higher caliber round to penetrate bug armor and it still takes a lot to take one down
@@nightwindrlsh8863 I like the new Starship troopers RTS game take on the tiger bugs. They are not only bigger or tougher than the standard warrior bugs but also come with a decentralized nerve system to give them a minute of fighting before going down for real. Kinda like insects IRL.
@@nightwindrlsh8863 Those are Morita Mk III's... It's chambered in 10mm instead of .308 but has a 30mm under barrel grenade launcher. Morita Mk IV's were used by special forces and I'm pretty sure there never was a Mk V created
Casper Van Dein is a UNDERRATED actor he is basically the face of this already weak franchise.
not weak
@@senritsujumpsuit6021 I mean it is weak. Only good one was the first sadly.
@jeffg.c.8948pensaba que las animadas eran lo mismo que la uno :v
He's a terrible actor, though
Meh this is what the imperial guards trench looks like when fighting tyranids swarm😂
Nids Are Much Worse.
Absolutely xD
The Guard would hold their ground way longer than these guys did. They at least understand that guns work best when you pull the trigger
The guard would do the job 10,no,100 times more effective
@@TheGreatThicc Fix Bayonet!!!
Just to make sure I understand, that last trooper ran out of ammunition and, instead of jumping back through the door to relative safety, she stood out in the open and called for another magazine. Is that correct?
Even worse. Their bunker is surrounded with bugs everywhere. Yet she is outside alone and they have the door open!
If they had just not made the entire base accessible to the giant alien bugs...things would have gone differently
So no elevated positions to defend from.
The walls and barriers are only slightly above ground level with nothing separating the inside ramp from the compound.
No close range weapons.
Have I missed anything?
Nah, you're just seeing incompetence at work!
Which tbh isn't that far fetched. There is no such thing as a perfect military that makes no mistakes on any level.
From what I remember of the film (It's been a while) the in universe explanation is the combat has devolved into essentially artillery duels between the humans and the bugs. Anything above ground gets blasted while the positions haven't moved in ages.
RL explanation, the film had a VERY limited budget. The trenches were built like that so the components could be easily and cheaply reconfigured for different shots. There is a scene where Rico see the marauder suits for the first time, the effect was done by shining bright lights on to cardboard cut outs to mimic the shadows (The film didn't have the money to do the shot otherwise).
Lmao. The bugs have grenades! 😂
Trench warfare against an enemy with nearly infinite numbers? Yeah, who was the "genius" who thought of this defense?
I started laughing when he punched his superior and was like "be seeing you, lola"
Ricco's rough necks is better than the last two movies
While it certainly wasn't the best movie, I do like that they made the bugs smart.
The bald officer really want to arrest the only guy who can organize the repel against bugs in the middle of a warzone, really😂?
Yeah that what I was thinking and he was useless too
I wasn't aware of the existence of this movie, I only watched the first one.
How much has your life degraded since learning of it?
Probably for the best, although I thought that the second film was okay. Not a patch on the first film though.
it seems they did want to live forever
nice. Brings back memories. Jan 04 ,2022
0:57 A badass way of doing something right.
Exactly and even telling the egotistical types to shut up.
I guess none of their bullets registered against the bugs lol. All the bullets fired didn't hit the bugs.
Ran out of CGI budget to have blood from the bugs.
I don't wanna be that guy, but all those soldiers could've easily lived had they gotten up, back into formation, and then opened fire
Panic is a bitch
The Adeptus Astartes aka Space Marines would do better than that when it comes to repelling the Arachnid horde
Ah yes ww1 trench in strange planet with deadly creatures
The in universe explanation is the war on this planet has evolved into artillery duels.
The acting is😂😂 top tier 👌🏼
the first one was so good and the direction was so original that this isn't even close to the same emotional effect of the first.
We need Bolters here..
You’re fighting bugs that primarily use swarm tactics and you use trenches?
Narrow trenches with uphill slants either side of it?!
I really hope theyd make a new one with rico as a veteran. This was not the way to end his character...
They did. Starship Troopers: Invasion and Starship Troopers: Traitor Of Mars. And they're actually good movies.
This is how i would rank the starship troopers films
- First live action Film (starship troopers 1997)
-Animated film (starship troopers: invasion 2012)
-Animated film (Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars 2017)
any other film that is not on this list, does not exist.
Do these guys ever learn from their mistakes? Seems like they are always getting slaughtered when they should have the capability of exterminating the bugs.
'cus its a satire. ...and also cus those bugs have some seriously tough carapace. It takes roughly a full magazine from a Morita rifle to kill a single "simple" warrior-class bug
@@shoulderpyro Correction, the FIRST MOVIE was satire. It's pretty well known that Heinlein was trying to put his book across as a serious work and the society he created in Starship Troopers was by no means meant as satire. It was Edward Neumeier, the screenwriter who up-played the satire 40 years later as those views were proven to be... lets just say not well thought out. Plus, in the first movie there's a scene with NPH which shows they can be killed easily with only a few bullets rather than an entire magazine, if only shot at the right place which most soldier's don't know how to do.
Big bugs, small halls, makes sense...
Their defensive can be break down easily by just cut off the electricity really ?
I love how there is absolutely no hit-feedback.
I think this movie tried to capture the feel of the first one but yeah from the budget limitations and the bad CG really effects the film in the long run. The practical gore is pretty good though
They didn't have the budget to mount a defense or counterattack lol. None of the bugs have any battle damage visible.
I loved the first one, this looks like a big steaming pile
Number 3. Damn number 1 was so damn good.
3:03 What is that gun position unless thats aa how can he even bloody see them without blind firing the dam gun
😂✌️
Casper could be a good doom slayer in a doom movie...speak less, kill more 💯
Honestly I love to admit that the female soldier that's screaming that she is out of ammo is actually pretty cute before the bug had bitten her in half ❤.
Dear Mr Paul verhoven please make us a worthy sequel
the bug sound😂😂
Would a 12 gauge shotgun be effective against those bugs?.
If the ammo was either slugs, or tungsten flechette rounds with diamond tips.
Actually, as slow firing as the rail-gun rifles were from the second movie, they were however far more powerful.
Just a couple of shots from a single trooper could rapidly kill a bug or blow off limbs in a pair of shots at minimum.
Granted I would want full auto, but I would take extreme semi-auto power in semi if that was an option.
@@emperorconstantine1.361 Yeah. You could blow off a limb with a full auto .308 and they can still fight with 86% combat effectiveness. They don't have any self preservation instincts.
@@podsmpsg1 my theory is that the brain bug overrides their own insect natural instincts and at the very last second of life, the warrior becomes their normal selves as a dick move by the Brain Bug.
It would need to be a semi-automatic -- or even better yet a fully-automatic -- shotgun. These bugs need some extreme stopping power that a pump-action wouldn't grant.
@@podsmpsg1 the Morita use .338 lapua round, also shotgun would only able to pierce bug skin at close range and I don't think get into close range with these thing is a good idea
Already the 3rd installment and they are still using the same weapons against the bugs??
They should've have nailed it in the 2nd part to get more budget. Onwards were just bad effects and cgi. 1st one is a master piece of brutal combat and effects
Throwing more money ard duzn guarantee a gd product tho. A gd director can make gd use of a modest budget. Whereas many movies with exorbitant budgets,u really wonder where all that money went while u're watching them. Both MCU & DCU are guilty of this for example.
Interesting defense tactics
Shotguns would be good or mines or lasers or even drone strikes
Flamethrowers like what someone said
The bugs at this point have evolved to have thicker armour, shotguns and flame throwers don't work, mines would not be good in the trenches your soldiers are walking in, hand held lasers are not really a thing in the film's universe, same for drone strikes.
Remember the age and very limited budget of the film.
If they had gotten into the buildings and fired from the windows they would have had 0 casualties.
this is why, the only ''live action'' movie of this serie is the first, the other 2 DOESN'T EXIST
amazing how the first looks far more realistic than this despite the technology difference
Wish the original film got a worthy sequel, none of these c-d movies.
The only time people unite.
Se nota mucho el bajo presupuesto que tiene, me quedo un millón de veces con la primer película.
How embarrassing after the first one
Pretty sure the quick close ups of the gun barrels firing are shots taken from the first movie. They haven’t even been colour graded properly to match ST3
They had different weapons in the first movie
If Cinemasins did this movie, this scene alone would gain it 40 points.
The “come on, you apes!” line was kinda when he only said it to 4 troopers
I can't with the guns man
The way Casper Van Dein says his line you want to live forever here stomps the first Starship Troopers.
this looks like a old school FMV game
They didn't learn their mistakes from their retreating tactics in the first film
When Hollywood gives fans a 50k budget to produce a film

Honestly... they really made you feel the chaos and panic. This may be a dumb b-movie, but i love it.
What happened to those mega power guns the Starship Troopers had at the end of the first movie ?
even in the first movie, i was allways amazed by the lack of some sort of mechanised vehicle, i mean they have ships and at the end they have the mechs, why not have some sort of light vehicle with a big gun to fight these bugs?
Aw no. They dragged T'Pol into this.
How is it possible that this looks so much worse then the battle scenes in the first movie ?
Its a shame becsuse they really had something special with number 1 " someone made a mistake....someone made a big goddamn mistake!"
They should make a new remake, as long as its handled right it could be amazing, they have the video games and anime movie
wow its all the original actors in spite of the budget
They were really cocky when the electric fence was up, but once powered down, they are virtually defenceless. How bad
nice ❤
Pure Solid Metal but bugs can destroy....
Evolved bugs by this time in the story, thicker armour, smarter tactics.
กลายเป็นหนัง เกรดB เลย😢
if that is what professional soldiers are like than war will be too easy
i mean, standing in the open where teammates have no line of sight to provide covering fire and asking for a mag to reload? are you serious?
I can't see a reason why they would create a underground base, because bugs are far better than us in terms of speed, mobility, agility and etc. Trenches, holes and small hills mean nothing to them. This means foot soldiers can be attacked in any possible direction and angle.
I never understood how the movies went from the great CGI of the first movie… to the crap this movie put out. Was so bad
Budget cuts and lack of money. Almost always the problem
I think this movie tried to capture the feel of the first one but yeah from the budget limitations and the bad CG, effects the film in the long run. The practical gore is pretty good though
Set dressing looks dope in straight to DVD Film but CGI, the first film still better.
Why is the audio so detailed in them walking with guns
I don't why they did not deploy earlier? Did the bugs have a special forces unit get close and break in through the wall just as they noticed lol.
Во время съёмок этого эпизода ни один жук не пострадал
Its funny in the thrid movie they act like they havent learned anything about the arachnids.
Wait... there is ST3? I know only ST1 - very good movie.
Why weren’t 2nd and 3rd movie like the others? There was significant drop off in quality. Also as a Gundam fan these same trooper outfits were used in an Americanized Gundam series.
I didn't see a single trooper aim for the nerve stem
How did the CGI get WORSE from the 90s?
Liked the forst movie hated how the others were handled.
Honestly though would of loved a tv series of star ship trooper.
Soldiers in the federation wouldn't be picked off so much if they had better tactics, better protection and weaponry.
So you mean to tell me that the federation thought that the best way to combat giant bugs that specialize in close combat was to build tight trenches with sharp corners and fill them with dozens of infantry all clumped together with only a electrical fence that runs of a generator prone to failure. Also did no one ever stop and think that maybe FLAMETHROWERS could be helpful. How the hell did this version of humanity live to develop space travel
Are they said URA! ?
