That gave me Helldivers PTSD lol.
How bout a nice cup of liber tea!
up right down right
Yes i mean Helldiver 2 is inspired of this movie
I like how they shoot in a circle and no friendly fire occurs.
"Do not attempt to move or we'll be shooting ourselves!"
Evrything about this seems like their showing a fist fight but you realize their using automatic rifles in close range but somehow that makes it cooler
The Warriors stand at about 10 feet tall, easy to aim high and not shoot your mates.
They are aiming high tho
smart bullets? jk
4:09 that takes some serious maturity to acknowledge your downfalls and weaknesses so casually. a true man really.
I enjoyed the hell out of this movie and even 2 decades later still enjoy the clips.. Great movie..
Great movie indeed. Sadly the sequel movies were atrocious B movies. There were some half decent ideas which I think comes from the books however the execution was horrid. Still worth watching if someone is a fan of both Starship Troopers and B movies. Just need to go in expecting the worst.
@@CoolTI-Daniel The Sequels were worse than atrocious. They were downright abominations.

Did they shoot it on mobile camera or what, looks so lame. Caste not acting, on a picnic it seems.
I'm surprised at how good the special effects are in this movie. 23 years old and it looks better than some of the stuff coming out now
Haven't watched more than clips but,
combination of the subject chosen (bugs exo skeleton look fine and natural with shitty textures as well as being fine to have in an extremely geometric design that computers at the time could handle better than smooth curves) as well as using practical effects work for certain shots (when they get a close up on the bugs eye its an animatronic) makes for something that can age gracefully.
Also Don't take this as me talking down to you, just an animation nerd geeking out
Dizz was hot!
fr
No
It's not great, but having to match the animation to the film plate and then optically print it back onto a filmstrip probably helps it look more natural than otherwise.
"Looks like I'm your new girl, sir!".
We loved you, Diz. You were the right girl!
yes I loved her!!!
I was heartbroken when she dies in it , when watching it in the cinema - still great film though..
A hot jarhead chick who loves you and is loyal to you. That’s all you could ask for.
@@hinkhall5291 This is totally true.
@@thelstanedwardsson4374 The director says that the test audiences reacted very negatively to her death, many demanding to change it so Dizzy lives and the other girl dies instead. He said he never saw a test audience get so passionately upset about a character's death before.
I love how they have all the tech but never thought to develop or deploy tanks, aircraft, drones etc, instead they sent in infantrymen armed with small arms.
Because in the lore of Starship Troopers the Federation was so corrupted, arrogant and fascist that they made that on purpose. They had to find a way to unpick so many soldiers
It is way different in the source material. There stands the mobile infantry for a really mobile infantry in high tech battle suits equipped with enough firepower to wipe out a city. Starship troopers is in that regard one of the few things where I love the source and the Film adaption despite the huge differences. For example in the source the Love Triangle is missing, there are more Aliens then just Bugs, the Government system is a bit different, the recruiting and the difference between being a citizen and a civilian, the whole chain of events. But they also kept Alot in the Movie like the Button knife throwing Joke (the enemy can't push a button, with that Hand!),the recruiter that lost both legs and a hand, the teacher Mr. Dubious, the MI unit Roughnecks, Rickos friend Carl that goes to intelligence.
Their food source running out + overopulation
They used Aircrafts (actually in a scene just before that one), drones weren’t huge part of warfare (and pop culture) in 1997 as they’re are now, tanks…. Well… yeah... But hey they got nuke rockets, which is pretty impressive
@@HwangInhoBooNam in the source book it was because the Mobile Infantry used power armor so they were stronger and more mobile than any tank. The movie was more of a satire of fascism so the troops were just canon fodder.
The mixture of CGI and practical effects just blend it so well, it never looks silly that you just get sucked out of the movie. Better effects that a lot of films of today
Well said.
I love how they can portray the horrors of war, a soldier becoming sadistic by wasting his ammo on enemy corpses, and limbs getting melted off by flame throwers, but saying “shit” is a no-no!

I miss the days where they mixed CGI and practical effects…
Now it’s all CGI and for some reason it often feels like something is missing.
And this still holds up so incredibly well. Just rewatched it recently and loved it.
When it’s CGI only, it’s like everything is weightless or the mass of objects don’t match up. I’m old and my brain can’t fully accept CGI even though it looks great on the surface.
Ironically, for all the shit Disney gets with Star Wars (a lot of it deserved), they actually do this really well. The sequels and even the Disney plus shows have a metric ton of practical effects with cgi elements just to spruce it up. If you ever watch the behind the scenes there are so many shots that I thought were totally cgi but we’re in reality completely practical

Well historically sports were a proxy and a training for war. Two rival tribes might settle a minor dispute with a sports competition. Plus, look at the olympics: running, javelin throwing, Biathalon, all useful military skills. As for today's sports, I'd trust the High School pitcher or quarterback to land a grenade inside the enemy pillbox a lot more than the nerdy kid.
Plus, athletics is athletics. Who would you rather have in your army, a bunch of teenagers who are fit and have good hand-eye co-ordination, or the fat slobs we have today?
Part of it is cultural too. I come from a long military family, and was being trained on WWII era weapons at 10, and modern weapons platforms at 13.
Does that make me sme super-soldier? hell no. But starting off being able to land 5x.308 rounds inside a dime from 100yds is going to make training a lot easier. Our somewhat violent culture gave us a huge edge in WWII.
@@wamyx8Nz it's true boots on the ground are still needed, but even with your military family/background you can't possibly think we still need more brawn than brains today? Superior technology and intel is what makes the United States the dominant military force by a landslide, and the so-called "nerds" you are describing contribute to that.
