Very nice. I've been making 100% coconut soap for a few years here in Panama. I use oil that my neighbour makes by hand over an open fire (it smells beautifully smokey and is fabulous to cook with also). We have a river nearby with beautiful red clay and your video has inspired me to add a little to my batter. Thanks a lot for posting.
Little update. I added a few grams of my red clay slurry to the last few bars of my last batch and it looks great. A nice rosy orange. It will become a regular addition now.
For all those people who wants to try soap making at their homes or in their backyard just to pursue for fun or to sell and make some money please beware of the risks that can be harmful ingredients used in soap making. learn or try attending a soap making class by professional. please wear eye protection glasses hand gloves and mouth masks and an synthetic Apron and prefer doing in outside in open space but not in enclosed cabins or rooms in case if something goes wrong. i believe we can start using soap after 45 days of making. So it's the pink clay that gives those swirls. It's therapeutic watching the process which may be the case if you're the person making the soap. The wire cutter looks as though it's also homemade. Enjoyed your video Holly.

So glad I came across this video this morning while eating my breakfast! I am planning to make 100% coconut oil soap today, and would have put it in a preheated 170° oven and turn it off! That would’ve been so so bad. Perfect timing! I will be pouring in a rectangular mold that makes 12 individual bars. I’ve heard if it cures too long it’s hard to cut, so not taking any chances! Thank you for all your hard work making these videos. I always learn so much from you!
Hi Holly, I am def gonna try this one, maybe s/fatting 25% and adding coconut milk as another person shared. Btw, my first soap recipe was formulated watching and taking advice from your vids...I have tweaked it over the years and it remains my favorite recipe..(I soap for fun and share with my family and frens) Thanks for your kindness in always sharing with us ! Much appreciated !
Thank you i really appreciate your hand work. But the measurement of coconut oil and lye is not clear to me. Can you please help me the measuring details? God bless you
How do you how much lye, water and cocunut to use?? And if I do use coconut oil what is the super fats percentage?? Would appreciate it if you can explain or if you can make a video about it
if we take 20% super fat how much time it will r\take to get traces .. i took 750 gms of Coconut oil and 110 gms of caustic soda and 250 gms water ( 210 grams water and 40 gms aloevera gel ) but my batch saponification not happened ..why? please help
Hey Holly, i just finish my coconut soap i did it exactly the same like your recipe but please tell me when can i use this soap after 4 weeks? can i use it now?
For the 20%superfat, did you add another oil after mixing lye water and Oil, or did you calculate lye amount for the 20% superfat? I am a beginner soaper and learning a lot from your videos. I would really appreciate if you answer my question. Thanks.
Im sure you found the answer in the last 3 years, but anyway, every recipe I've heard of, it's calculated into the ratios before first mixing. That way, you won't have to mix it twice, especially not after it's already thickening.
I typically let soaps dry for 4 weeks. I just use a rack in the corner of my soaping room. I do keep a dehumidifier running most of the time but only because of the humidity being a bit high where I live.
No problem! It’s a great question. When the oils (fats) combine with an alkali (in this case sodium hydroxide), a chemical reaction takes place called saponification that turns them into soap. Assuming it is made correctly, there’s no sodium hydroxide in the finished soap. Hope this helps! 😊
I had and have alwys loved to do DIY for face cream , toner etc n crafts for room decor n hv been eager to do diy soap but I didn’t get the perfect recipe. I wish this cud help me.
hi dear am new to soap making just saw the video and was looking for some calculation here , so if am not wrong the coconut oil is 80%and 20% is superfat or coconut oil is 100% and 20 % is superfat , and can u tell me the calculation for water and lye how much u have taken, am just trying to learn so if you can tell me how much percent water and how much percent lye in this will be great , might be silly question sorry for that ;)
I love working with coconut oil soap! Its so white and amazing and at 20% fat, not drying at all and very bubbly!!! Love the video! A question, curiously only, why did you pour in increments? Was it because of the mold you were using?
Thank you! Yes, I poured in increments because with this mold, pouring the in-the-pot swirl all at once tends to leave half the soap without any color or swirl. At least for me, anyway. When I started pouring the round soaps in increments like this, I got more soaps with interesting swirls. Thanks for asking!

You could add some kind of spring and a flat disk that can slide the soap over so you can just continually cut your soap.
Yes u are making very pretty soap but I think it's very hard any easy way. Such a beautiful soap I love it

Yes, I usually wait 4 weeks just to make sure as much water has evaporated as possible so the soap lasts a long time when it's used.
