I ran into a problem making this soap. In the video she is using a coconut milk called Simple Truth Unsweetened Coconut milk which is not a pure coconut milk but has additives. In my recipe I used a much higher quality coconut milk which was only pure coconut milk with no additives which, evidently, has a MUCH higher concentration of fats as opposed to a cheaper variation. The resulting "lye water" was way thicker than I would normally expect. Something to keep in mind if you are using a high quality coconut milk. In my recipe I ended up adding some water to the recipe so I wouldn't end up with a failed batch. Lesson learned: This recipe will need some adjusting depending on the kind of coconut milk one uses.
Yes, it was the Native Forest Unsweetened Organic Coconut Milk Simple Version which contains no guar. I added a small amount of additional water to the lye mixture because it was just too thick to use before pouring it into the oils. Almost like a milkshake in consistency. I didn't actually measure the amount of additional water I used. I sort of ballparked it. Fortunately, the batch came out without any major issues.@@AnaisCoundial
I did the same thing and my lye never dissolved in the coconut milk. I froze the coconut milk and then added the lye. I even added a little water to make sure but I ended up with a thick batter of coconut milk and lye and the lye didn’t dissolve fully even though I stirred forever. My end soap was grainy and had undissolved lye. I had to throw it out.
On my end, I dissolved the lye on 1:1 ration, then I used a freshly squeezed coconut milk with a lower water content about 1:1.5, in total I used 1 part lye by 2.5 water plus cocomilk. You can add the cocomilk with the oil mixture first stir with spatula then add the lye water solution. It works for me😊

I love the beautiful simplicity of your soap. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I’m curious how you know that the soap went through gel phase. Is there a sign that you look for when the mold is completely covered?
thank you for this lovely video, please i have a question, did you mix olive oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, avocado, castor oil and super fat together? secondly, did you heat the oil?
Thank you so much for that wonderful video! Very informative with regard to working with coconut milk. My only question is at the closing of your video - you are using a green plastic rack/container where you place the soaps for drying - I do not see that on your equipment used list - can you tell me where you purchased that item? Thank you for your time! Kate from North Idaho
Thank you so much! Absolutely...I completely forgot about the drying racks. I purchased them from Essential Depot (essentialdepot.com) several years ago. Just search their site for soap drying trays or stacking soap drying trays. Thanks for watching!
