a decent hike, great conditions although a bit fresh from the sounds of it, rewarded with an amazing sunrise. what a view! You've got some skills with a camera snd editing. I came across this video searching OEX tents, wasn't disappointed. Subbed!
Good video! There’s next to no reviews on this. I’m deciding between this and a F10 Nexus UL2, but the porch almost has me decided. I only wish it looked a little warmer and more waterproof. Did you find the tent very cold relative to others? Have you had it out in hard rain?
Thanks for the review. I recently bought a TN Laser Compact 1 for a trip to the Dolomites to do the Alta Via 2 in a few weeks, but I'll be honest, I'm not getting on with it. I'm going to see if the retailer will take it back, though I doubt it since I've pitched it, only in the garden, but still. I may pick one of these up as a backup if I can't decide on, or budget for anything else before my trip.
My wife and I have just moved house - and my Tadpole made an appearance in the move. Bought it 20 years ago... is yours still functioning? I'm nervous about getting mine out.
What a camp! Good hike in, pushed to swearing point, rewarded with a great pitch and sunset and good conditions! Great videography too. Loved the shot from inside the tent out to the sunset! Take care mate, Adge
Myself, ive only ever used paper maps,my priorities with a tent are, weigh( 2kg max) and warmth,so i wouldnt use a mostly mesh tent except in summer, which is about 2 months duration in current climate. And i was up there years ago,i saw a lad in front of me,didnt look like a hiker,he went around a lump of rock and when i got there,he had disappeared!
Bloody marvelous video! Just wot I needed sat in the office pricing material for new build. I very much like this Oex Bandicoot 2 UL. Keep em coming Geordie! God bless and be safe!
Another cracking video mate. What a location. I’ve been on to OS maps and told them to listen to their customer feedback and put the app back the way it was when it worked. The most recent feedback on the App Store is abysmal. They’ve obviously not tested it. Here’s hoping they roll it back! Only way I made it work so far is turn off mobile data and wifi - part of the problem is that it will wait trying to load while it looks for updated maps, rather than use the cached ones first.
This was awesome Steven bcos that route is very similar to what me and my mates are doing at the end of the month for our first wild camp. I’ve camped and hiked myself as a Scout leader my whole life but not done a true wild camp like this yet. Planning to camp at the three tarns by Bowfell that you pointed out. Cheers for another great video 👍🏻
Clicked because I’ve been waiting for weeks for somebody to review this tent (and the pantha) as I’m not interested in (another) bobcat or phoxx…. Was expecting to skip through to the ‘tent part’ but watched the whole thing… really nice video : )
I use the OS maps app weekly. I've not used it since last week but I'm out on a wild camp tonight so will see if I find any glitches. I don't usually have any though. It's a great app usually. You asked paper or electronic? For me I take both. I was an army cadet in the 80s well before any sat nav and so I learned to map read and navigate so it's something I like to keep my skills up with. Although I'd like to do an advanced course in orienteering at some point. Great videography and photography (on your IG page) mate. Love it.
Nicely filmed dude & amazing views...!👍 Looks a good tent & at a very light weight... I've got a tent of similar design, size & pole-structure... But it weighs 2.9kg, which is fine for me (under 3kg) & is also 4 season, with heavier materials, so is to be expected... I do like & have 3 OEX tents & sure that the new UL range will be good choice for multi day hikes in fairer weather... Best wishes & subscribed...👍
Great video mate. I'm currently on the sofa with a bad back, had it all week. Was meant to be in the Lakes this weekend hiking the Bob Graham round. That's on hold for now. Did you get a fix for OS maps? Mine is the same. Tried deleting the cache and stored/saved maps etc, slightly improved but not much. ATB, Mike.
Hey mate, hope you’re feeling better soon. I’m in the same situation. Snapped my Achilles tendon. Nah no fix as of yet mate. Hopefully and update sorts it out. Thanks for watching
@@thegeordiewildcamperthanks mate, that sounds a painful one! Speedy recovery. It's not good being stuck inside, but at least there's RUclips to get the mountain fix we need! Fingers crossed a future update does fix it 🤞🏼
Yep, I'm definitely liking the Bandicoot too now mate thanks for that haha. Also, I've not yet looked in the description but can you share the name of that table you have, I want/need that! Cheers bud 👍
I use a garmin etrex with paper and compass back up. I have the OS app but wint pay for the upgrade. I just download my maps to it as a back up. The etrex runs off AA batteries which last about a week and you can always get gpx routes for it It isnt touchscreen so good in the rain as well and easy to use with gloves on. The basecamp app on windows is clunky though. I think oex have a cheek calling all their tents Ultralight. I'd class ultralight as sub 1kg. These are lightweight but not ultralight. Nice looking tent though but not sure about the porch in the rain. Should be ok in the wind.
Hey!! I use the OS maps app and agree completely that the alleged “update” is sh!te! 🤣😂😂 “I’ve no idea why I thought that was a good idea” 🤣😂🤣 so funny! I really do like the look of this tent. I’ve loved that design for ages as the Berghaus Caingorm 2 is the same shape but weighs an absolute tonne, this looks fab!! Definitely intrigued to see what it’s like in bad weather but really need to lighten my load and I love this. How tall are you? What’s the head room like and the length of the inner? Thanks for sharing, what stunning weather!!
Echoing everybody else really........ My annual OS renewal was due last week and I've not bothered, I prefer to use a paper map anyway, no charging or connectivity problems and next to no weight. I like the look of the Bandicoot II UL but not for me..... I'm happy with my little assortment of tents for the time being, the next purchase will be a 4 season jobby around Sept/Oct. ATB Geordie.
The new OS map's is terrible I'm not happy with it's upgrade nice camp Steven and that tent looks good I like the colour they have a few new upgraded tents out nice spot for a camp atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍

I do tend to only use OS Maps, but then I'm rarely too far off a known trail. I use OS Maps on Android and don't (touch wood) have any issues, are you on iOS?
OS Maps be like: Want to plot a route? No problem, just connect to the internet somehow in the most remote areas of the UK. Want to use an OFFLINE MAP you've downloaded to avoid loading issues? No, problem, just connect to the internet. OS can eat shit. Once my subscription is up, I'm out and I'm trying every other option because, even the cheapest, shittest alternative can't be as useless as the OS app.
Agreed, OS maps is shocking at the minute, they need to sort it fast
Beautiful scenery and a fabulous tent. Thinking of getting one. They look awesome 👌
Have to say I’ve been impressed!

Hey, yeah I don’t really have an issue this was probably due to having the correct gear for the weather. No hard rain as of yet.

Almost identical to my 30yr old North Face Tadpole. Might be a good alternative!
Yeah seems a nod to a couple of other tents

Certainly a tad blowy up there matey, good to know the new UL range is sturdy in wind and kept you toasty inside. Nice vid too.

Great video mate. What a spot that is! That looks like a very small 2 man, I'd say more a 1p tbf
yeah max quite possible although you could squeeze two
Beautiful spot that mate with the rock formations 👍
Out of all the new tents OEX has brought out I think this is the only one I like man. Spot on video again lad 👊
yeah mate i think this is the best of the bunch mind

Look forwarding to hearing what your getting
Fenix 6xpro, phone. But always carry a paper map even if I'm very familiar with the area.
Hiya, how did the Oex compare to the Xmid with condensation? I’ve got the xmid pro, brilliant super light tent but does condensate a lot.
Completely different tents!
1500mm HH, how well would that hold up in heavy persistent rain?
Wasn’t an issue
Is it me ,or is the OEX Bandicoot a ringer for the Terra Nova Voyager 2?
Oh crap. You just mentioned it.😅
Cracking vid,thanks for uploading.
cheers mate

Great video Steve. Totally agree re; OS Maps app. I hate the change, don't like it at all.😞
cheers mate
