Thanks so much Ant for your videos. I’ve been agonising over a tent for 3 season camping and couldn’t decide, but for the price and usefulness I’m going for the Bobcat - it’s a perfect start to my wild camping adventures.
Hi Lynn, I'm so glad I've been able to help you in your choice of tents. I want people yo have trust in me and know that my reviews aren't taken lightly by myself. If a product is good I'll tell you, if its shocking I'll tell you. Please let me know your thoughts on the Bobcat when you've been out in it will you, I'd appreciate your feedback. All the very best, Ant
I generally carry my water in a litre stainless bottle. Before turning in, I boil the remaining water in the bottle and sleeve it into a thick pair of socks. Tucked into the bottom of your sleeping bag, it gives off warmth for most of the night and you don't struggle with frozen water in the morning.
Hi James, yeah I do the same mate, the TBS Bore bottle or the Nalgene bottle is ideal too mate, great solid bottle, perfect for boiling water. Thank matey 👍
Hi Kev, haha brilliant! Thank you very much pal and welcome aboard. Yeah Andy is a top bloke, very funny. Thanks again pal and I hope you enjoy the rest of my content, Ant
That was a cracking video Ant one of you best really well put together it looked bloody cold that budget tent did well Chris and Andy had some very expensive tents aswell would it hold up in strong winds looking forward to seeing you out with Rick and Billy boy atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Morning Jimmy, ahh cheers man, that's greatly appreciated pal. Haha yeah outside the tent was completely freezing, that cold your beer was freezing up while drinking it lol. The tent is class mate. A couple more test nights then I'll know if I can trust it in harsh weather. I've had it out in very strong gusts but I want to get it out and experience a full night of wind to know for sure. Thanks pal, yeah looking forward to catching up with him again.
Very well put together and great music.Couldn't resist pointing out that at 5.24 with rucksack out of sight you struggle to extricate 4 seasons sleeping bag from rucksack " It's so big that i can't get it out of the bag ! "....cut to 5.29 holding a tiny bag in right hand -i thought that's a small sleeping bag ! Turned out to be the stove.Glad you all lived happily ever after - nice story.Fancy going halves on the pub ?
Hello Twiglet, thank you very much. Haha yeah the compression sack is a nightmare to get out of the pack, easy to get in but coming out... Haha yeah I'd love to have a slice of that pub, I've loved it since the first time I stepped into it. Big thanks for watch and for your comment. Cheers, Ant 👍
Excellent video mate. Very atmospheric. Caught the mood like. Cracking camp really enjoyed it. And it was good to finally meet ya. See you soon I hope. Have a good Xmas. Atb. 👍
Morning Andy, thanks buddy and glad you enjoyed it. It really was a top adventure that wasn't it. Certainly the coldest I've ever done. The same to you pal, been watching you for yonks and great to finally get a camp done with you, we had a great laugh didn't we haha. Yes definitely, we'll sort another camp out for early new year dude, see if we can catch some more hazardous conditions lol. Thanks mate and you have a wonderful Christmas too pal 👍
Well you had better but colder weather than I di when I was up there with my mate about 6 weeks ago. A night like that you need something hot and spicy as it look look dam cold for a nights sleeping. Amazing sunrise to wake up too, no matter what sort of night you had it was so worth it for that alone, cheers Alan
Hi Alan, yeah it was the coldest camp I've ever done buddy but amazing nonetheless, great company, atmosphere and views, oh and the food was awesome too haha. Yeah the sunrise was stunning pal. Hi Ant, I used my OEX bobcat 1 with exped tarp the weekend. The tarp was great but I found the guy lines a bit easily tangled and I will probably replace them with something a bit heavier. I liked the porch area of the tent and like the little window at the top to look out and to have fresh air. The temp got down to 2 degrees and I had no condensation which was great. What I didn't like was the sleeping capsule and I found it a bit claustrophobic. I will try the tarp with my vangi banche next time. I did a video on my channel if your interested in seeing a moto camp in South Australia. Cheers Smash
Hi Smash, great yo hear your out testing it too pal, some good info there buddy! Yeah I can imagine the tarp is very versatile and a good fit with other tents bud. I'll pop over, no problem 👌

Hi Dave good to hear from you pal. Yeah a fab camp mate, great to meet Andy finally, he's a top bloke. Thank you man and thank you for taking the time to watch buddy
can't remember where i got it, but a few yrs back i picked a fairly cheap foil mat with foil on both sides, quite thin comared to usual roll mats but made a huge difference when i hammocked at about -4 hope you & all the family are keeping well atb
Hi Barry, great to hear from you pal. Yeah I'm on the look out for one of those mate. I'm hoping Father Christmas is gonna bring me something nice haha. Thank you mate, yes all good here. Another few days of work then the festivities begin. How's thongs with you and your family pal? Hope all is well.
The bobcat looks like a budget version of my macpac microlight....which I also paid £50 for , gotta love a colleague selling his stuff off just to get rid .
Nice one Ant. Looked like an ace camp and glad you all had a blast...dry cold and a sunrise is as good as it gets mate when you are sleeping in a tent on a mountain. As much as i like a drink i just can't do boozing when its cold although a nice hot toddy goes down well for me or a hot mulled wine. You can buy really good gas canister cosies in Go Outdoor fishing section and if you squeeze one of those hand warmer sachets things in you get optimal performance when the temps drop below zero in normal gas canisters which are cheaper than the winter propane ones. ATB and have a great Christmas and New Year.
Morning Olan, thanks buddy, it was ace like you say pal. Yeah lots better than raining, least you can get outside and chat. Haha yeah we were noticing the ale was actually freezing up in the can as we were drinking it! Madness haha. Mate, that's a great shout, I'll head to Go Outdoors at the weekend and have a look, thanks pal. It certainly struggled in the morning mate. Big thanks for watching and for your comment 🙏. All the best yo you and yours also pal, have a good one!
@@AntSurviveTheNight They are green and a waterproof type material and i have just discovered while getting my gear together to go out this weekend that you can put an extra layer of the reflective thermal bubble wrap stuff around the gas canister too :)
Honestly well done mate , a brilliant camp anth definitely one of my favourite videos, the music was absolutely spot on for the scenary cheers anth all the best marra 😀 👍 🏕 👌
Hi Gary mate, thank you my man, very good of you to say pal. Yeah I really liked the music on this one, seemed to fit perfectly into the sequences. Bug thanks as always pal.
Go outdoors in Bury and decathlon middlebrook still have gas i think... But definitely a good idea getting a connector. I've loads of the butane cans so going to get a flea bay attachment soon and get them used. Hopefully whoever takes on the pub still allows the people to park there. Definitely a cold camp that and yeah you definitely need to layer up!
Hi Phil, yeah Go Outdoors Bury does but Decathlon, they have to order it in which is stupid! Yeah it's a great gadget mate. I feel now I can just go anywhere and be able to know I don't have to stress they have the right gas. Yes, good point re the car park pal. Yeah very cold but ace fun! Thanks matey 👍
Almost took my Bobcat up Dog Hill last week but decided on my 2 person (£49) Eurohike Backpacker 2 DLX as I wanted the room and I've only done one camp with the Bobcat @ +5c thus far. Got down to -6c for me, but it's good to see the Bobcat kept you toasty. Maybe next week... 😉
Hi guys, ahh good stuff. Well at least you know now you'll be OK with the Bobcat at -9 😆. Yeah it's nice to be able to stretch out a little but as I knew the temps were gonna be very low I know the Bobcat with its compact inner would keep the heat in that my body produced all night until I unzipped in the morning. Yeah definitely give it a try guys!
I'm glad the Bob Cat is good as I bought one recently for a March Scottish trip. I was worried about the pole after reading reviews but had no issues at all attaching it. Looking forward to trying it out properly soon.
Morning Jeanette, oh great, you definitely won't be disappointed I'm sure of it. There are quite alot of people reporting issues with getting the pole to fit, I've noticed slightly but I do have a easy way round this problem which I'll be demonstrating in the final full review and my thoughts video out soon. Enjoy your Scotland trip in March too, where you heading? Love it up there. Thanks for watching and gor your comment, Ant 👍
Hi Pete, thanks pal. Yeah I'm really impressed, I've got a few more tests I want to do then I'll do a review and my thoughts on it vid in the new year pal.
Stunning conditions for it. I was tempted by the Bobcat in the recent sale as it was less than £50 so a really good tent for that money. However, I've got far too many tents at the moment so couldn't justify it. Nice video, thanks for sharing.
Hello Kev, thanks very much mate for watching. Yes, I would have missed this if it wasn't for my pal Leon who told me about it. I've got a good few tents also but didn't have an actual 1 person tent that I could fully sit up in but I do get it if you're spoilt for choice and don't really need another. Great tent to consider Kev if one of your others goes down. Thanks again, Ant 👍
@@AntSurviveTheNight I'm sure I'll end up with one at some point. I've got to start selling a few tents in the new year to make way for new ones to try.
Great upload, I used the bobcat for motorcycle camping last year... Great tent. If they did a 2 person version I'd buy it in a heartbeat, a little extra room would be a real benefit for my bike kit.
Hi Paul, thanks very much mate. Have you checked out the Cloud Peak 2 by Naturehike? That is a two person Bobcat, a dome tent and 3 poles but exceptional and eiukd be perfect for your bike packing trips pal. Cheers, Ant 👍
@tomxrt2650 Hi, It's a great little tent but there's no room inside for anything else inside while you're in there. I'm 6ft and it's snug, I use the porch area for my boots, helmet and cooking equipment, the rest of my stuff has to be stored on the bike. It's maybe and Idea to see one in the flesh before you purchase.
Hi Harry mate thank you! Yeah I just want yo experience as much as I can after all we just don't know what's round the corner. I want to grab these amazing opportunities with equally amazing people when they come around. Yes, thanks pal. Back up to your beautiful country very early January so can not wait for that! Big thanks Harry mate.
Nice, caught MCMs solo winter camp a few days ago and now this. Andy looks worth checking out as well. Thanks for sharing and have a blast over Christmas & New Year!
Morning Base, ahh great stuff. Chris is a top friend, his videos are awesome aren't they pal. Thanks very much for coming to check mine out too, very good of you pal. Yeah you won't be disappointed with Andy either mate he makes cracking vids too. Big thanks and hope you enjoyed mine. Have a lovely Christmas and a happy new year 🎉. Cheers, Ant 👍
Hi Clint, thanks very much pal. Yeah the music I use is all in the royalty free music on RUclips. You would have to search for it pal as I just go in there and click, listen and if I like it I download it.
You’re all mad going camping in those conditions. Maybe it’s an age thing for me I’m almost 70 and my rule is when the cricket season is over so is the camping season . But if you guys enjoy it keep doing it because you all seem much younger then me but please stay safe👍
Haha I love your comment Stephen! Yeah we must be mate. I'm so happy your getting out still as I really hope rhe same for me in 19 years time, who knows eh! All the best pal and keep heading out
Thank you Davt. Yeah man I 100% back this biddy tent and no way am I affiliated with OEX, it’s just a quality tent I put my name to, love it! Yeah man nice! I want the tart too, great price dude
@@AntSurviveTheNight absolutely mate, oex have got it bang on 👌 that new heiro stove must be quality as sold out everywhere. I've just picked the pro tarp up and a rakoon 2 looks a decent bit of kit aswell. ATB bro, spot on content 👍
@@AntSurviveTheNight good tent mate got em on £80 on blacks at the minute, my only gripe is it's inner 1st but it's solid loads of room defo worth a look. Ya welcome bro ATB
Morning Phil mate, thanks very much pal. Yeah it certainly was bud haha, I had every faith in my gear and if it went pear shaped Chris or Andy would just have to move over haha. Thanks pal
Awesome video Ant. You guys are so brave camping in freezing temperatures I loved the icicles music was great too. Nice tent. Have a great week and looking forward to next video 👍😊
Morning Cath, thank you very much! Haha yeah it was an experience I'd like to do again and again, loved it. Yeah I saw the icicles as I was keeping warm while wandering. Thanks again Cath, you too, nearly weekend again!
Im not a wild camper or a back packer so i really dont know the difference between a four seasons tent and a summer tent, surely they cant be much different and the temperature inside the tent in winter can't be that much different to a summer one used in the winter 🤔 Great video tho 👍
Hi Strake, yeah I understand mate. The main differences for a tent to be four seasons is 1. The inner, having an inner tent to the exterior does keep the heat in dependant on the material that is. With the Bobcat you really do noice a massive difference in temperature when your snug inside the inner. 2. The length of the outer, if that reaches the bottom and beyond then that’s a great bonus as it helps with snowfall but us over here in the U.K. it’s not the snow we need to worry about it’s the wind! Good strong poles, guy lines and fabric is what we need for a decent four seasons shelter. Hope that helps matey. Cheers for watching, I appreciate it pal, Ant 👍
Bloody brilliant mate, I was wondering how the bargain bobcat would cope but you know what, I reckon you could be correct on your previous video saying you think it's a 4 season tent. Looks like you had a comfortable night and kept warm all night. Very impressed. I missed the boat on that one but I will keep looking. Great tip on the stove and those down pants. My gear is all budget but I couldn't cope with -7 in my oex fathom 2. Great footage there fella and enjoyed that. I shall be checking Chris vid out featuring your moon walk. 🤣. Keep up the good work Ant and yeah, you wanna go halves on the Kirkstone Inn. I went flat on my arse there heading to the lavs a few years back.. Take care mate. Atb Andy
Hi Andrew, ahh cheers matey! Yeah I'm so very impressed with the Bobcat pal, I've got a few more tests for it then I'll do a review and thoughts video in the new year I reckon. Thanks pal, yeah the down gear was a must for this camp, Still very reasonably priced to keep it budget friendly I'd say mate. Thank you mate, yeah check out the lads videos if you will, two top blokes! Haha I wish, I'd buy it for sure haha, hope your ass was OK lol
@@AntSurviveTheNight thnx for speedy reply pal. already seen Andys just awaiting Chris's to drop.. Yeah, those down pants look good.and those boots look affordable and a must as my feet are always cold. Again looking forward to your reviews and great to see proper budget gear getting tested. You will have to drag Leon up there with his bobcat. Was that Stony Cove Pike? Keep up the good work Ant. Cheers Andy. Gutted no flying drone through the bobcat. 🤣
No worries pal. Yeah me too mate, looking forward to watching it. Yes absolutely, the down gear just adds that security that blanket before the sleeping bag. I too get cold feet, I'm a very cold sleeper although I am getting better and more used to it now but even so I like to be warm and this new kit really gives me that protection. Yeah I can't afford the best gear but I do always look either for a good deal or good kit at minimal hit to the wallet. Haha I'm trying to get Leon up there, we're in talks haha.yes pretty much that area matey. Thanks pal and no way, no more Dorney through tents camps lol
Hi Benny mate, big thanks pal, your ery very kind. I nearly didn't have the video as the go pro locked up and sent my SD card into a frenzy lol, spend a couple of days recovering the data off it. Yeah the music was really nice in this one, it fit perfectly. No mate, it's a Freeby off RUclips. Thanks again
Wow that looked a testing night Ant, not for me in those conditions I`m afraid as I don`t have the equipment for temps that low. Fab video Pal, cheers ! 🥶🥶🥶

@@AntSurviveTheNight Thanks a lot. I'm from Australia and sadly we can't get them here :( Trying to figure out a way to get one, might need to use a mail forwarder.
@@AntSurviveTheNight I can't believe that all the stores that stock the tent don't seem to ship overseas! I'm not sure about the tax but the mail forwarder quoted about 40 quid to get it shipped to Australia.
Ahh OK thank you matey!
@@AntSurviveTheNight The brand is Trakker Ant, spelt that way.Theres even a YT trakker product video
Oh fab mate, I'll jot it down buddy 👍 thank you
Happy Christmas buddy ❄️
And a very merry Christmas to you Rick mate!
man, that music..♡♡♡♥︎
Hi Detharp, thank you matey 👍
Just found your channel, love it
Hello John, ahh fantastic mate, thank you very much! Hope you enjoy the rest of the content pal. Cheers, Ant 👍
Best vid you have done. That tent really held up didnt it :)
Morning Leon mate, ahh cheers pal. Yeah great shout to buy this tent pal
@@AntSurviveTheNight Thank you. I'm off to walk the Great Glen Way.
Oh classic, it's a beautiful trip that, lots to visit and see
Nice one Ant! Getting more and more impressed by the Bobcat the more I see of it.
Hi Pete, thanks pal. Yeah I'm really impressed, I've got a few more tests I want to do then I'll do a review and my thoughts on it vid in the new year pal.
@@AntSurviveTheNight I look forward to hearing your final thoughts on it. 👍
Thanks pal, it certainly will be an honest one 👍
You'll have to let me have first dibs on the ones you're selling 😆
@@AntSurviveTheNight there's about 18 to pick from!
😆 ace!
How was the Bobcat for motorcycle camping ? I’m six foot and wasn’t sure if I would get myself in plus my bike kit etc !
@@spanners73 Thanks 🙏 I think I’m gonna opt for the OEX Phoxx 2 for the extra space ! Just for the extra storage and space. Thanks for the response.
Thanks for responding Spanner’s
A great effort Anth, my your pushing the boundaries, great luck with your next camp, stay well and stay safe. Atb. Harry
Brilliant video guys any chance you could send me the link to the guitar drum beat tune please.
All the best pal and keep heading out
Quality stuff mate, 👍, amazing what that little bobcat can handle, just picked the expedition tarp up aswell £29 quid absolute bargain.
I’ll have to check out the Rakoon 2, it’s been mentioned a few times now. Thank for the nice comment mate 👍
@@AntSurviveTheNight good tent mate got em on £80 on blacks at the minute, my only gripe is it's inner 1st but it's solid loads of room defo worth a look.
Ya welcome bro ATB
Oh not a bad price then, I’m saving up for my next text to test now so I’ll have a look
Where did you get the foil bed thing to sleep on, currently got a 3.4 R rate mat so think this will be beneficial for me
Hi Liam, sorry for the late reply. I use two, the thin one is actually a windscreen cover mate and the thicker one is a yoga mat 👌
Is that the only sleeping mat you had the silver reflector mat ?
Hi John, no mate. I was using the Alpkit Numo also matey. Cheers, Ant 👍
Ah OK i must of missed that bit bloody cold otherwise
Oh gosh yes mate, I'd have definitely not have survived the night lol
Brilliant Ant well done mate, a proper cold night that was and you definitely Survived The Night.......
Morning Phil mate, thanks very much pal. Yeah it certainly was bud haha, I had every faith in my gear and if it went pear shaped Chris or Andy would just have to move over haha. Thanks pal
Gonna start going out wild would you recommend the bobcat tent
Most definitely Captain, I'd put money on this tent being a viable option for anyone on a budget. I love this tent ⛺️
@@AntSurviveTheNight Thanks so much Ant, Shame about that pub. Be good to do it again. Have a lovely weekend Ant.👍😊
Yeah gutted about the inn. Thank you! You too Cath
Im not a wild camper or a back packer so i really dont know the difference between a four seasons tent and a summer tent, surely they cant be much different and the temperature inside the tent in winter can't be that much different to a summer one used in the winter 🤔
Great video tho 👍
Good stuff Ant, as long as you're enjoying it no weather is bad weather.
Very true Si mate. Yeah it was a classic camp this, one I will remember for sure pal
Good video, one question, whats happened to the warm weather from the 'climate change'?
Hi Treegrower, thanks very much. Well, looking at the forecast for next week the temps go back up and we have rain again. Thanks, Ant 👍
Your videos keep getting better and better! Quality production on this one. Loved the music too. Was that "free your head"!? Spot on Ant (and co.) 👍
Hi there Martin, thanks very much mate. Yeah, I've never completed a sub zero camp as low as this one so wanted to test myself and my kit. Thankfully both held up well haha.
Cheers matey 👍
Ooohh...!😮 I just got 2 the Pants & Booties bit...🤣 Is Andy up 4 it OR ya on ya own like...???!!!😂 Will watch the rest once dog walked & grub done, I gotta see this...!!!🙄👀😯🤯😂✔️🤣 Autumn/Winter, no more midges & Mossies...

Oh they are a must in winter those pants and boots pal. Yeah Andy is a legend, up for anything. Yeah bring on the cooler weather now
@@AntSurviveTheNight Just watched the end of this & hadn't realised was 10months ago, so guessing will have similar conditions again soon...! Great camp...✔️ I got me some down tent boots last year, lovely & I had looked at down trousers, but you've defo sold me on em now & I've just put a pair in my shopping basket...!😄 All the best...👍
Yeah can't believe it was 10 months, mad isn't it. Oh fab mate you will love them I'm sure of it. Let me know what you think when you try them will you.
My morning shower is colder than -15*C 🥶
Oh how lovely for you - quick sprinkle of Lynx Deicer - good to go ! I was working in the garden overnight -14C and Mrs Twiglet said " You look a bit chilly luvvy, why don't you put a tee shirt on ? " to which i replied " Won't i look a bit silly with just a tee shirt on ? "
Is the OEX Bobcat 1 good for all seasons?
Hi Space Monkey, I use it all year round mate, in the worst of weather (go havexa look at my numerous bad weather camps in it) summer time it's lovely and cool also. Hope that helps pal
@@AntSurviveTheNight Thanks a lot. I'm from Australia and sadly we can't get them here :( Trying to figure out a way to get one, might need to use a mail forwarder.
Yeah this is the problem, alot of my U.S. followers have said just the same, its hard work isn't it, you get stung for tax
@@AntSurviveTheNight I can't believe that all the stores that stock the tent don't seem to ship overseas! I'm not sure about the tax but the mail forwarder quoted about 40 quid to get it shipped to Australia. It looks like such a great tent, I really like the groundsheet for the vestibule, nothing like that available in Australia from what I can see.
Gosh £40 that's steep! I paid £49 for the tent too! British made tent you see, they don't sell them abroad and I can't think why!
Beats the pub, any day.
Hi Emma, oh definitely. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Ant 👍
Dunno like 😂😂
Lol well, if the Kirkstone Inn was open I could have sank a few jars before heading up mind
