    Good to see coverage of the Isle of Man - often overlooked by non-motorcycle fans- but it's well worth a visit. And very pleased you described the TT races which are incredible. Sadly another two racers died this year (2018) Dan Kneen who lived on the island and Adam Lyon from Scotland. Brave men.

    As a Brit, I'm really enjoying the videos of your trip through Britain - seeing us and our land as others see is is always eye-opening! Regarding the kingdoms you can see from the Isle of Man, the correct number is 6 - Scotland to the north, Wales to the south, Ireland to the west, England to the east, Man if you look down, and Heaven if you look up!

    That kind of tower is called a “folly”. They were built as a kind of status symbol by the rich land owners around the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. They have no purpose beyond that. Hence the name “folly”. Love the channel btw. Namaste 🙏🏻

    For some strange reason I repeated the part from 15:56 to 16:16 several times. I don't know, for me it sounds beautiful, like an everyday man's travel vlogger's poem
    It's crazy
    It's near the mountain
    Inside the clouds
    (Me?) Eating some mushrooms and coconut
    In the middle of Isle of Man
    Batteries on my phone is dying
    We might not have enough fuel to get back
    I don't care
    Kyde, June 2018
    (excuse me for errors. It's not my first language)
    I love the sound of it a lot. Thanks kyde and eric. Always enjoy your videos immensely.

    Fun fact - I don't know if you noticed but all castle stairwells go up clockwise. It meant that as a defender you could cover yourself with a shield in you left arm and pokey-pokey over the top of your opponents shield with a sword in your right. The attackers sword arm would be hampered by the wall on his right

    I love these videos. Especially since it's cool to see people visiting the UK (London) and enjoying it. It makes me happy to live here. You show the little intricacies which I would always take for granted.
    Though apart from that your videos are still great. In my opinion you blend the line perfectly from being informative and personable which makes it really enjoyable and professional like a TV show. Also the panning shots and Google map showings make it really nice and very easy to understand.

    Hello couple.
    After 5 minutes, I couldn't even think to stop watching, you guys. Because it is very easy to like you. Wow, when I saw you climbing the tower, I thought: you shouldn't do this. How curious about the 'bulldog tower' drink, and the snack they consumed, it looked very good. Chocolate with coconut is the best combination I know. I love coconut! As for the beaches, even without the heat and sand, as here in Brazil, I admired the coast there a lot. After all, sea is sea. The island's money and coins: very, very interesting. TT 27 miles for 1 lap? Wow. At that speed? Never ! I agree with her in the description in the 32 minutes, about the scenario. Hmm, the local 'deli' burger looked very tasty, as did the 'Isle o man cheese'. I liked the second tower, see? I watched until the end.

    North wales, Snowdonia National park. Imo is some of the most beautiful scenery you’ll find in the U.K., you could stay in a town called Llandudno. Lots of hotels, beautiful town and within an hours drive of anywhere you’d want to go. Also fun facts, Llandudno was where Lewis Carroll wrote Alice In Wonderland, it’s also home to a copper age mine and where the Queen keeps her goats. If hiking and discovering cool things is your thing, then North Wales is the place for you. I live near Conwy and can see the castle from my window. Look it up, Conwy castle. It’s a complete package the castle and the town still surrounded by the walls.

    3:50 - Is an exclusive private boarding school called King William's College. 11:13 - looks like the mystical and folkloric South Barrule. The view from up there is stunning, with patchwork fields of green and brown all around. 26:56 - Braddan, the Old Church; I have some Crellin relatives buried there, and in nearby Union Mills. My ancestors married and were baptized in that church. They store some old Celtic crosses inside the church, to protect them as they are irreplaceable. Each district (Parish) of Man has its own style of Celtic cross. 47:23 Yn Arbyl/Niarbyl is Manx Gaelic for Tale of the Rocks. A wonderful place for sunsets and sunrise, and for watching seals, sharks and whales when in season.

    You guys do get around. A couple of interesting points. During WWII, The Isle of Man is where we imprisoned alien residents, so it was full of Italians & Germans. Also in the old days the TT riders used to use elastic bands on their accelerator throttles to keep them fully open and then would just gang on for dear life.

  • @sharone976
    @sharone976 4 года назад

    When you go next, enjoy the races if indeed you can get a booking. .They have two major events in a year, the TT and later in August the "Classic TT", which features classic motorbikes as well as newer ones. The wind you experienced is British onshore/offshore wind. If you are within about 10miles from a shore you will experience it. It is because the land and the sea heat up and cool down at different rates. British tides are amongst the highest in the world. Don't get caught out! Check behind you always. You need a lifetime to experience the Isle of Man properly, but next time at least visit the mines at Laxey, the Steam trains and definitely have breakfast at The Caff in Douglas.

    Isle of Man £'s are the same as the UK, and can be spent anywhere in the UK, same as the Scottish notes. Some shops get a bit weird though sometimes. You can also just exchange it for English notes in any Bank.

    • @anonymes2884
      @anonymes2884 6 лет назад +1

      Not always the case in fact. It's kind of like with Scottish notes but probably a bit moreso (the reason usually given is that the shopkeeper can't tell if they're counterfeit because they don't know what to look for). Even some banks will refuse to change Manx notes.

    • @chrisjfinlay
      @chrisjfinlay 6 лет назад +1

      Manx currency is actually not the same as GBP. The notes do not say "Sterling" for example, and are not legal tender outside the IoM. The value is tied to GBP but it's technically its own currency.

    There are about 140,000 miles of public footpaths in England and Wales alone that will take you over farmland, moors, parkland and fields, and through farmyards, woods, country estates, gold courses and even people's back gardens. You might need to wear your wellies though and will need to watch out for aggressive geese, cows and horses.

    Superb video guys, there is a slaves grave in Kirk Braddan church yard, his name was Samuel Ally & he lived next to the Church as a free man after the abolition of slavery in 1834. You will end up falling in love with the place, be warned! On the way down to the Calf you past by Cregneash , an unspoiled village which is run like a living museum, there are Loaghtans there. Money, for notes to be legal tender on the mainland it has to say the word 'Stirling' on them, anything else including Manx notes you will have to exchange in a UK bank. I also give the Patchwork Cafe 5 stars, they never disappoint.

    • @lokki245

      Scarlett Fox I've used a few in the UK that don't work that way. They are usually stations who've experienced a lot of 'drive-aways' (with or without temporary/fake number plates). These places make you pay first and the pump only dispenses the amount of fuel you've paid for. Such places are rare in the UK but I've found many like this in other countries.

    16:57: About the size of the rocks, it is not really because the time they were in the water, but because a wave rolling in has more energy than the wave as it retreats, so it is capable of pushing bigger rocks up the slope, but not to drag them down the slope. So gradually the bigger rocks end up higher than smaller ones. The rocks (and a big sand bar right out in front of the point which you probably did not notice because it was cloudy) are dragged there by the effect of the waves that erode the sandy cliffs further South of you. The point is getting longer and longer, while erosion of the old glacial deposits happens along the coastline. The small extra lighthouse you probably saw has been moved in the past to correct for the rapid elongation of the beach. Another interesting fact you perhaps did not notice (because it no longer stinks): you were just half a mile away from the big refuse dump that used to exist in the island, now covered in grass and heath and restored (the refuse is still down there however); refuse is now being taken to an incinerator plant to produce energy.

    99.9% of all gas stations in the UK are pump and pay... but don't be fooled, we are the most watched country in the world (surveillance cameras are everywhere) and the ones in gas stations have automatic licence plate recognition. Big brother is always watching!

    to work out if you are allowed to do something in the UK or not, like climbing the tower, remember the UK is the true land of the Free, everything is allowed unless it is expressly forbidden. i.e. we are not France

  • @LeeRatbag
    @LeeRatbag 6 лет назад

    Heh. I drove round the TT course in a Transit van once (a mate of mine moved over there and I drove his stuff over for him). One of the scariest things I ever did. Halfway up Snaefell this fog came down, I've never seen a fog like it. You couldn't see the sides of the road at the top of the mountain, and that's a narrow road...
