  • In this video, we are going to answer this question: What are the factors affecting rate of reaction? Before we address that, we'll first go through what is collision theory, and then, we'll connect the relationship between collisions and the rate of reaction, which is collision theory of reaction rate. Once we get that out of the way, we'll start addressing What are the factors affecting the rate of chemical reaction. Basically, there are four factors affecting rate of chemical reaction. We'll start with the first factor affecting rate of reaction which is concentration. Then, we'll look into the second factor affecting rate of reaction which is the surface area of solid reactants. Then, we'll move onto the third factor affecting rate of reaction, which is temperature. Lastly, we'll look at the fourth factor affecting rate of reaction which is catalyst. If you stay until the end, I'll share with you how all of the factors affect rate of reaction.

why is there a need to control the rate of some chemical reactions??

It depends on the situation. If let's say you're manufacturing chemicals, it will benefit you to speed up the reaction. If let's say you're trying to glue something together, you'll probably want the reaction to slow down so that you'll have time to adjust the pieces together.
