Grew up watching reruns of Talespin on afternoon cartoons. Loved that show. Thanks for this video!
You're most welcome, not enough people talk about Tailspin. It was always my favorite of the Disney Afternoon shows.
I used to love watching the classic Jungle Book in Elementary school and when I was little. Looking at all of these animated movies bring me back beautiful memories. 😊
Jungle Book was my favorite Disney movie as a kid! Talespin was my favorite Disney Afternoon series. It was a lot of fun looking up all of the information on how this series came about. I had those Talespin Comics, the Video Game and a couple of those action figures. This brought back a lot of great memories for me too.
Man I never realized how all this stuff inspired talespin.
It was a very interesting rabbit hole to go down as far as research goes.
This was a nice segment! I had no idea so many this went into the story behind Talespin. It was fascinating! Happy Father's Day my lord!
The Empire thanks you! It was a lot of fun diving into this series history, I'm glad you enjoyed this video! And I'll have to see if I can track down the Ducktales movie some time. I remember them playing it all the time on Disney Channel back in the day but I've never actually seen it.
These jungle book characters never appeared in Talespin unfortunately, Colonel Hathi and Bagheera.
If Hathi was in Talespin, I could see him being the Colonel for whatever army Cape Suzette has.
Not sure what type of occupation Bagheera would have.
The snake Kaa doesn't cross my mind as much, since he would be difficult to anthromorphize since snakes have no arms and legs
I do wish we could have seen Hathi in Talespin for sure! Interestingly they couldn't think of anything to do with Bagheera, which is why they cast all of Khan's pilots as Panthers.
I have Been Imagining What Bagheera Would Look Like in Talespin.
@@deionpehowdy He'd make a cool fighter Pilot, Khans pilots were all panthers.
I mean Disney animated Sir Hiss
Thank you for making this. I started thinking about this show and didn't understand why it existed.
You are quite welcome! It is really fascinating to see all of the influences to go into movies or tv shows. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Of all the Disney Afternoon shows back in the day... this is probably my fav..2nd being Darkwing duck.....*hint hint*
This really was a great show! My favorite episodes were always the treasure hunts, or episodes that had a lot to do with the Air Pirates.
Darkwing Duck was a great show too, Bushroot, Megavolt, and Steel Beak were my favorite villains.
@@VaderReviews Disney and the Good Old Days...And Shere Khan was a pretty good Baddie on the Tail Spin Show too..but then he was voiced by Legendary Tony Jay. RIP Good Sir
@@the_flyattractor8656 The man's voice was Icy Cold Awesomeness!!!! He perfectly captured Shere Khan's calculating Intimidation. Khan was always a favorite character of mine as well.
Thanks after the day I've had I need this I love tail spin now I know more on how it came to be.
I'm sorry you've had a rough day my friend, but I'm glad this was able to help brighten your day a bit. Talespin is SUCH an amazing series! I have the whole thing on dvd. I've been wanting to cover this topic for some time, and since I've been on a nostalgia trip lately... I thought it was about time ^_^
It would be fun to do a review on the Ducktales Movie! 😁
i saw this comment somewhere, it was from another user, fan fiction fantasy, if Bagheera and Colonel Hathi had appeared in Talespin. He mentioned for Bagheera, Bagheera would work for Shere Khan, and be the leader of Shere Khan's pilots and maybe even is an old classmate of Baloo where they went and took there pilot license and maybe become rivals over who are the better pilot.
As for Hathi, i agree, he could be the Colonel for whatever army Cape Suzette has.
Also, i believe Kit Cloudkicker is basically Mowgli as an anthromorphic Bear, they are both orphans as well. Since Mowgli in the Jungle Book wants to be a bear like Baloo, well, Kit Cloudkicker is Mowgli in bear form.
It really would have been great to see Hathi as the Colonel in charge of the Cape Suzette cliff guns! He could have been a great addition to the cast. And yeah, Kit is sort of a mix of Mowgli and Little Bear from Kissy Fur.
Talespin was such an interesting mix of several ideas and influenes. They really don't make great shows like this any more. A few years ago I wished they would make a new CGI Talespin movie. But after Chip N Dale... I think we dodged a bullet since its never happened.
Kit Kinda does Remind me of Mowgli
@@deionpehowdy It was really interesting how they combined different characters to make this show.
@@VaderReviews Yeah.
I can see the similarities and the fact it tied into tailspin its really amazing 😁
Great video
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed this video my friend! It was very interesting diving into the history of this series learning what influenced it. It just goes to show, you can pull from a lot of sources to come up with something great.
I think too many people see a fully formed series and think "Well I could never come up with anything like that..." with out knowing it was highly inspired by other things.
@@VaderReviews agreed i wanna see more of this :3
@@Animeknight1992 I really like seeing what people can create as well! Its really inspiring.
@@VaderReviews oh absolutely
@@Animeknight1992 I'm probably going to do another deep dive into some of these classic shows if this video gets enough views. It was interesting learning about this series. It was my favorite as a kid.
I'm glad you done this. It was a nessecity a simple Bear Nessecoty forget about your youngling and your wife!
I also loved Tales of the Golden Monkey.
I'm glad you liked this video! You know not many people I talk to remember "Tales of the Golden Monkey" but it was a pretty good little adventure show!
I spoke to Dan tonight. I'm astonished at you people.
I wish I could draw.
Anyone can draw with enough practice Admiral! You just have to believe in yourself my friend!!
I love talespin so much
Its always been my favorite of the Disney animated shows.
Weird, my sister and I were just talking about tale spin today!
Talespin was one of my favorite TV shows growing up. I had some of the toys too, Baloo, Dumptruck, Louie, and even the Seaduck. I had the SEGA game too. It was HARD!
@@VaderReviews Remember that game too, don't think I ever beat it.
@@SirArtanis7 I never beat it, my brother and I got up to the final boss ONCE but we couldn't manage to beat it either.
@@VaderReviews I never got that far, guess I should try getting the game again and try at least getting that far. Know its not Technically legal but, an emulator should help me get the game.
@@SirArtanis7 There were a few fun levels in that game! But yeah the bosses were really difficult for sure. But that was pretty much par for the course old SEGA games.
I love this duck tales and chip n Dale rescue Rangers
Those old shows had great theme songs!! Insanely catchy!
Excellent video Vader Reviews also what day or week will you upload your reaction video on the fan film Star Wars Legends Legacy of the Force?
I'm glad you enjoyed the video my friend! I always upload my videos on Saturday's ( unless there is some sort of technical difficulty ) I don't know when exactly I'll be get to Legacy of the Force because I have a big backlog of videos. But I will get to it eventually.
@@VaderReviews I hope you eventually do a reaction video on the fan film Star Wars Legends Legacy of the Force because I absolutely love to hear your thoughts on this fan film adaptation based on the novel Invincible written by Troy Denning it’s truly a fan film worth watching more than once the people who worked on this Star Wars fan film did a great job of adapting the final novel of the Legacy of the Force series to live action it’s definitely a fan film worth watching more than once.
I’m rewatching Talespin now! It’s a great show and stands up to the audiences of today.
Tailspin has always been my favorite Disney animated series. At the risk of sounding like an old fart, they really don't make them like they used too!
I love and still love Tailspin to this day, I only wish that it had a proper series final episode 😔
It really was one of if not the best Disney Afternoon show. I wish there could have been a proper finally too. Or an animated feature film.
Kit Cloudkicker Even Makes a Cameo Appearance in DuckTales.
I've heard of that! I hadn't seen the new Duck Tales show but I'll look up the clip on youtube.
@@VaderReviews Okay!.
Cloudkicker is one of my very LEAST favorite Disney protagonists. In all due fairness, though, I love the rest of The Jungle Aces. And just as much, I love Keoni Jameson, Lilo Pelekai, and Max Goof.
Can't wait for a review of the animated jungle book
You know I forgot I never got around to reviewing that one!
I've seen bits and pieces of this cartoon and have really enjoyed it. All this information you've told about this wonderful cartoon series has made me want to start watching it again. I've always loved the Jungle Book and I remember watching I Love Lucy with my grandparents at some point. Also, my ultimate favorite Disney Cartoon series growing up was Kim Possible and American Dragon Jake Long. I would watch both of those series any chance I got.
This was such an imaginative series! Jungle Book has great characters and animation, and it all carried over to Talespin. It really is a fun show, I always wished they would have had Barheera or Kaa on the show.
@@VaderReviews awwww darn. They didn't have Barheera? Or even Kaa? Dang it. At least there's still the other iconic characters :)
@@EdellaFinSonaan95 Well with Kaa it was probably because it would be difficult to have a character with out hands. As far as Bagheera, Shere Khan's pilots are all Panthers. So I guess he's kinda in the show. But Khan's pilots are hardly in the show.
@@VaderReviews oh ok I see. Yeah I guess that would be difficult seeing as Kaa is a snake.
@@EdellaFinSonaan95 Of course they did have a cool character named Klang in one episode who was a Cobra. He had robot arms.
I wonder what's next for Animation History? Powerpuff Girls, with the story of how a creator failed in his initial pitch and learned what he did wrong and made a gem of a series? Or the story of a connoisseur of macab humor who would make a twisted yet hilarious comedy horror show for kids. (The Grim Adventures of Billy And Mandy)
The Jungle book to Talk spin
Still one of my favorite Disney films of all time!
great review!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! This was a lot of fun to break down.
yo, your voice is crazy bro
love it
The Empire greets you! We are honored that you would join us,. And thank you, we don't get many comments on the Vader voice, I really appreciate it!
Out of curiosity, will you one day review porkoroso. Sorry if I butchered that last part. Also how is the fan film coming along?
You know I've never seen Porko Rosso, but after doing my research for this video I really want too! I'll probably review it once I've watched it. The fan film is coming along nicely, we're working on a lot of post production now. There are a LOT of visual effects shots in the movie. But all of our location work is complete.
@@VaderReviews that's good to hear.
One final point: You left out the part about Don Karnage being derived from Captain Hook rather than a Jungle Book Character.
I didn't know he was based on Captain Hook, that's interesting.
@@VaderReviews And my Don Karnage obsession doesn't stop there. All in all, he's like a kid friendly Trevor Phillips. Both love looting. Both love kidnapping. Both are stellar with firearms. Both are capable of huge ambushes. And both have a pilot's license.
I'm going to check this show out! I'm aware of the show's existence, but I never really watched this. I like animation, and I'm now very inquisitive!
Its definitely a fun little show! The animation quality is good too. It was during that golden era where WB and Disney were competing for having the best quality TV shows. So at WB you had Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Batman the Animated Series ex. Meanwhile at Disney you had Talespin, Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers, and Gargoyles.
@@VaderReviews Fox Kids was phenomenal as well.
@@kylekullin2520 They had some great shows as well for sure!
@@VaderReviews X-Men, Spiderman, Batman , and the Tick kept me entertained as a kid. I was so preoccupied with it that I really didn't need a babysitter 😎
@@kylekullin2520 I was just watching the classic Spiderman series last night! The Venom origin episodes. The Tick was a funny show too!
This is what I like to call: animals next step towards evolution!
I do wish we could get a Tailspin movie that would be pretty wizard!
I saw jungle book in theaters at eight in its 90 reissue and watched and taped talespin every morning.
One of my favorite shows and Rebecca Cunningham and the talespin women I dug as they were babes
I wanted to see the Jungle Book re-release back in the 90s. But I never ended up getting to the theater in time. But we watched Talespin all the time! Played the old SEGA Game ( even though it was more hard than fun haha )
TaleSpin (which is my favorite Disney cartoon) would NOT exist without public domain.
In my personal opinion TaleSpin is actually MORE interesting than the source material.
That's why public domain is vital for creativity.
i forgot if you mentioned this, but other trivia about Talespin, is that Baloo's original voice, Phil Harris, he was originally slated to reprise his role as Baloo, and there are conflicting reports as to how much dialogue he recorded for Talespin, some sources say 1 episode or as much as 5 episodes, but he was already an elderly man at the time, in his 80s, and they found his voice had changed too much with age, and so he was replaced with Ed Gilbert. Its unknown if Phil Harris's voice records for Baloo survive, most people think Disney discarded them, others think they might be stored in a Disney vault somewhere.
It was a shame that Phil Harris couldn't voice Baloo in Talespin. That would have been great ( as much as I really enjoy the Baloo we got in the series ) I also always wished they had included Kaa, and Hathi in the Tailspin series.
@@VaderReviews same thing along with Bagheera as well, the closest we got to Bagheera in Talespin, was that Shere Khan's pilots, his air force, was composed of Panther Pilots, which looked like Bagheera clones
@@initiatorhater0688 I always wished they would have had at least one of Khan's pilots have more of a character. And have him act like Bagheera.
What was your favorite Disney Afternoon series?
Ducktales, although I enjoyed Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers almost as much. 😊
@@icegirl514 Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers was another favorite of mine as well ^_^ Gizmoduck was pretty wizard too!
Darkwing duck loved that show.
@@KnightWolfVT I loved the intro as a kid but I couldn't stand Gosalin haha Bush Root, Mega Volt, and Steelbeak were my favorite characters.
@@EdellaFinSonaan95 I remember seeing a few episodes of Kim Possible back when it first came out back in the day.
Which Talespin episode is playing at 3:34? Anybody know?
The voice is like. A mix if sean Connery mixed with James erl jones
Thanks for checking out the video!
Okay, it had Baloo, it had Louie, it even had Shere Khan..... where were Bagheera and Kaa?
Or the wolves
Sadly the closest we ever got to Bagheera were Khan's fighter pilots. They were all panthers. I always thought Kaa should have been Khan's right hand man, but for so e reason they never included him.
@@VaderReviews don’t get me wrong, was a good show, but if you adapt something like that, at least add ALL the characters from the movie, or have characters from the book in their place at the very least
Neato burrito Vader Reno
Glad you enjoyed the video my friend! The Empire greets you, it was a lot of fun diving into this series again.
I loved Kissyfur as a kid! Not a very well known or talked about cartoon.
It was a very cute little show, I watched it myself back in the day. And you're right, not many people seem to even remember it. Kissyfur and Koala-Walla-Land were a couple of my favorite shows when I was little.
@@VaderReviews I still remember the mayor assuring the townspeople that the new bridge was "Gator-proof", seconds later the gators totally annihilated the bridge like it was made out of cotton balls!!
@@JonBap42680 There were a lot of great old cartoon shows back then. I think there needs to be a resurgence of these older style cartoons.
Right on #time. . .
Can you react to Imagivotion: Revan vs Darth Vader - A Star Wars Fan Film?
I think I saw that one awhile back, they have Revan win don't they?
@@VaderReviews yeah. Against an illusion of yourself. Can you do a reaction video to that?
@@tylergranger2159 It wouldn't be a genuine reaction I suppose since I've already seen it. I suppose it would have to be more of a watch along.
